1. तब यहोवा ने अरयूब को आँधी में से यूं उत्तर दिया,

1. Then out of the storm the LORD spoke to Job.

2. यह कौन है जो अज्ञानता की बातें कहकर युक्ति को बिगाड़ना चाहता है?

2. Who are you to question my wisdom with your ignorant, empty words?

3. पुरूष की नाई अपनी कमर बान्ध ले, क्योंकि मैं तुझ से प्रश्न करता हूँ, और तू मुझे उत्तर दे।

3. Now stand up straight and answer the questions I ask you.

4. जब मैं ने पृथ्वी की नेव डाली, तब तू कहां था? यदि तू समझदार हो तो उत्तर दे।

4. Were you there when I made the world? If you know so much, tell me about it.

5. उसकी नाप किस ने ठहराई, क्या तू जानता है उस पर किस ने सूत खींचा?

5. Who decided how large it would be? Who stretched the measuring line over it? Do you know all the answers?

6. उसकी नेव कौन सी वस्तु पर रखी गई, वा किस ने उसके कोने का पत्थर लिठाया,

6. What holds up the pillars that support the earth? Who laid the cornerstone of the world?

7. जब कि भोर के तारे एक संग आनन्द से गाते थे और परमेश्वर के सब पुत्रा जयजयकार करते थे?

7. In the dawn of that day the stars sang together, and the heavenly beings shouted for joy.

8. फिर जब समुद्र ऐसा फूट निकला मानो वह गर्भ से फूट निकला, तब किस ने द्वार मूंदकर उसको रोक दिया;

8. Who closed the gates to hold back the sea when it burst from the womb of the earth?

9. जब कि मैं ने उसको बादल पहिनाया और घोर अन्धकार में लमेट दिया,

9. It was I who covered the sea with clouds and wrapped it in darkness.

10. और उसके लिये सिवाना बान्धा और यह कहकर बेंड़े और किवाड़े लगा दिए, कि

10. I marked a boundary for the sea and kept it behind bolted gates.

11. यहीं तक आ, और आगे न बढ़, और तेरी उमंडनेवाली लहरें यहीं थम जाएं?

11. I told it, 'So far and no farther! Here your powerful waves must stop.'

12. क्या तू ने जीवन भर में कभी भोर को आज्ञा दी, और पौ को उसका स्थान जताया है,

12. Job, have you ever in all your life commanded a day to dawn?

13. ताकि वह पृथ्वी की छोरों को वश में करे, और दुष्ट लोग उस में से झाड़ दिए जाएं?

13. Have you ordered the dawn to seize the earth and shake the wicked from their hiding places?

14. वह ऐसा बदलता है जैसा मोहर के नीचे चिकनी मिट्टी बदलती है, और सब वस्तुएं मानो वस्त्रा पहिने हुए दिखाई देती हैं।

14. Daylight makes the hills and valleys stand out like the folds of a garment, clear as the imprint of a seal on clay.

15. दुष्टों से उनका उजियाला रोक लिया जाता है, और उनकी बढ़ाई हुई बांह तोड़ी जाती है।

15. The light of day is too bright for the wicked and restrains them from doing violence.

16. क्या तू कभी समुद्र के सोतों तक पहुंचा है, वा गहिरे सागर की थाह में कभी चला फिरा है?

16. Have you been to the springs in the depths of the sea? Have you walked on the floor of the ocean?

17. क्या मृत्यु के फाटक तुझ पर प्रगट हुए, क्या तू घोर अन्धकार के फाटकों को कभी देखन पाया है?

17. Has anyone ever shown you the gates that guard the dark world of the dead?

18. क्या तू ने पृथ्वी की चौड़ाई को पूरी रीति से समझ लिया है? यदि तू यह सब जानता है, तो बतला दे।

18. Have you any idea how big the world is? Answer me if you know.

19. उजियाले के निवास का मार्ग कहां है, और अन्धियारे का स्थान कहां है?

19. Do you know where the light comes from or what the source of darkness is?

20. क्या तू उसे उसके सिवाने तक हटा सकता है, और उसके घर की डगर पहिचान सकता है?

20. Can you show them how far to go, or send them back again?

21. निेसन्देह तू यह सब कुछ जानता होगा ! क्योंकि तू तो उस समय उत्पन्न हुआ था, और तू बहुत आयु का है।

21. I am sure you can, because you're so old and were there when the world was made!

22. फिर क्या तू कभी हिम के भणडार में पैठा, वा कभी ओलों के भणडार को तू ने देखा है,

22. Have you ever visited the storerooms, where I keep the snow and the hail?

23. जिसको मैं ने संकट के समय और युठ्ठ और लड़ाई के दिन के लिये रख छोड़ा है?

23. I keep them ready for times of trouble, for days of battle and war.

24. किस मार्ग से उजियाला फैलाया जाता है, ओर पुरवाई पृथ्वी पर बहाई जाती है?

24. Have you been to the place where the sun comes up, or the place from which the east wind blows?

25. महावृष्टि के लिये किस ने नाला काटा, और कड़कनेवाली बिजली के लिये मार्ग बनाया है,

25. Who dug a channel for the pouring rain and cleared the way for the thunderstorm?

26. कि निर्जन देश में और जंगल में जहां कोई मनुष्य नहीं रहता मेंह बरसाकर,

26. Who makes rain fall where no one lives?

27. उजाड़ ही उजाड़ देश को सींचे, और हरी घास उगाए?

27. Who waters the dry and thirsty land, so that grass springs up?

28. क्या मेंह का कोई पिता है, और ओस की बूंदें किस ने उत्पन्न की?

28. Does either the rain or the dew have a father?

29. किस के गर्भ से बर्फ निकला है, और आकाश से गिरे हुए पाले को कौन उत्पन्न करता है?

29. Who is the mother of the ice and the frost,

30. जल पत्थर के समान जम जाता है, और गहिरे पानी के ऊपर जमावट होती है।

31. Can you tie the Pleiades together or loosen the bonds that hold Orion?

32. क्या तू राशियों को ठीक ठीक समय पर उदय कर सकता, वा सप्तर्षि को साथियों समेत लिए चल सकता है?

32. Can you guide the stars season by season and direct the Big and the Little Dipper?

33. क्या तू आकाशमणडल की विधियां जानता और पृथ्वी पर उनका अधिकार ठहरा सकता है?

33. Do you know the laws that govern the skies, and can you make them apply to the earth?

34. क्या तू बादलों तक अपनी वाणी पहुंचा सकता है ताकि बहुत जल बरस कर तुझे छिपा ले?

34. Can you shout orders to the clouds and make them drench you with rain?

35. क्या तू बिजली को आज्ञा दे सकता है, कि वह जाए, और तुझ से कहे, मैं उपस्थित हूँ?

35. And if you command the lightning to flash, will it come to you and say, 'At your service'?

40. जब वे मांद में बैठे हों और आड़ में घात लगाए दबक कर बैठे हों?

40. when they hide in their caves, or lie in wait in their dens?

41. फिर जब कौवे के बच्चे ईश्वर की दोहाई देते हुए निराहार उड़ते फिरते हैं, तब उनको आहार कौन देता है?

41. Who is it that feeds the ravens when they wander about hungry, when their young cry to me for food?
