1. तब उन तीनों पुरूषों ने यह देखकर कि अरयूब अपनी दृष्टि में निदष है उसको उत्तर देना छोड़ दिया।

1. Job's three friends refused to reply further to him because he kept insisting on his innocence.

2. और बूजी बारकेल का पुत्रा एलीहू जो राम के कुल का था, उसका क्रोध भड़क उठा। अरयूब पर उसका क्रोध इसलिये भड़क उठा, कि उस ने परमेश्वर को नहीं, अपने ही को निदष ठहराया।

2. Then Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, became angry. He was angry because Job refused to admit that he had sinned and that God was right in punishing him.

3. फिर अरयूब के तीनों मित्रों के विरूद्ध भी उसका क्रोध इस कारण भड़का, कि वे अरयूब को उत्तर न दे सके, तौभी उसको दोषी ठहराया।

3. He was also angry with Job's three friends, for they made God appear to be wrong by their inability to answer Job's arguments.

4. एलीहू तो अपने को उन से छोटा जानकर अरयूब की बातों के अन्त की बाट जोहता रहा।

4. Elihu had waited for the others to speak to Job because they were older than he.

5. परन्तु जब एलीहू ने देखा कि ये तीनों पुरूष कुछ उत्तर नहीं देते, तब उसका क्रोध भड़क उठा।

5. But when he saw that they had no further reply, he spoke out angrily.

6. तब बूजी बारकेल का पुत्रा एलीहू कहने लगा, कि मैं तो जवान हूँ, और तुम बहुत बूढ़े हो; इस कारण मैं रूका रहा, और अपना विचार तुम को बताने से डरता था।

6. Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite said, 'I am young and you are old, so I held back from telling you what I think.

7. मैं सोचता था, कि जो आयु में बड़े हैं वे ही बात करें, और जो बहुत वर्ष के हैं, वे ही बुध्दि सिखाएं।

7. I thought, 'Those who are older should speak, for wisdom comes with age.'

8. परन्तु मनुष्य में आत्मा तो है ही, और सर्वशक्तिमान अपनी दी हुई सांस से उन्हें समझने की शक्ति देता है।

8. But there is a spirit within people, the breath of the Almighty within them, that makes them intelligent.

9. जो बुध्दिमान हैं वे बड़े बड़े लोग ही नहीं और न्याय के समझनेवाले बूढ़े ही नहीं होते।

9. Sometimes the elders are not wise. Sometimes the aged do not understand justice.

10. इसलिये मैं कहता हूं, कि मेरी भी सुनो; मैं भी अपना विचार बताऊंगा।

10. So listen to me, and let me tell you what I think.

11. मैं तो तुम्हारी बातें सुनने को ठहरा रहा, मैं तुम्हारे प्रमाण सुनने के लिये ठहरा रहा; जब कि तुम कहने के लिये शब्द ढूढ़ते रहे।

11. 'I have waited all this time, listening very carefully to your arguments, listening to you grope for words.

12. मैं चित्त लगाकर तुम्हारी सुनता रहा। परन्तु किसी ने अरयूब के पक्ष का खणडन नहीं किया, और न उसकी बातों का उत्तर दिया।

12. I have listened, but not one of you has refuted Job or answered his arguments.

13. तुम लोग मत समझो कि हम को ऐसी बुध्दि मिली है, कि उसका खणडन मनुष्य नहीं ईश्वर ही कर सकता है।

13. And don't tell me, 'He is too wise for us. Only God can convince him.'

14. जो बातें उस ने कहीं वह मेरे विरूद्ध तो नहीं कहीं, और न मैं तुम्हारी सी बातों से उसको उत्तर दूंगा।

14. If Job had been arguing with me, I would not answer with your kind of logic!

15. वे विस्मित हुए, और फिर कुछ उत्तर नहीं दिया; उन्हों ने बातें करना छोड़ दिया।

15. You sit there baffled, with nothing more to say.

16. इसलिये कि वे कुछ नहीं बोलते और चुपचाप खड़े हैं, क्या इस कारण मैं ठहरा रहूं?

16. Should I continue to wait, now that you are silent? Must I also remain silent?

17. परन्तु अब मैं भी कुछ कहूंगा मैं भी अपना विचार प्रगट करूंगा।

17. No, I will say my piece. I will speak my mind.

18. क्योंकि मेरे मन में बातें भरी हैं, और मेरी आत्मा मुझे उभार रही है।

18. For I am full of pent-up words, and the spirit within me urges me on.

19. मेरा मन उस दाखमधु के समान है, जो खोला न गया हो; वह नई कुप्पियों की नाई फटा चाहता है।

19. I am like a cask of wine without a vent, like a new wineskin ready to burst!

20. शान्ति पाने के लिये मैं बोलूंगा; मैं मुंह खोलकर उत्तर दूंगा।

20. I must speak to find relief, so let me give my answers.

21. न मैं किसी आदमी का पक्ष करूंगा, और न मैं किसी मनुष्य को चापलूसी की पदवी दूंगा।

21. I won't play favorites or try to flatter anyone.

22. क्योंकि मुझे तो चापलूसी करना आता ही नहीं नहीं तो मेरा सिरजनहार क्षण भर में मुझे उठा लेता।

22. For if I tried flattery, my Creator would soon destroy me.
