1. इन बातों और ऐसे प्रबन्ध के बाद अश्शूर का राजा सन्हेरीब ने आकर यहूदा में प्रवेश कर ओर गढ़वाले नगरों के विरूद्ध डेरे डालकर उनको अपने लाभ के लिये लेना चाहा।

1. After all these things that Hezekiah had faithfully done happened, King Sennacherib of Assyria came to attack the country of Judah. Sennacherib and his army camped outside the fortresses. He did this so that he could make plans to defeat these towns. Sennacherib wanted to win them for himself.

2. यह देखकर कि सन्हेरीब निकट आया है और यरूशलेम से लड़ने की मनसा करता है,

2. Hezekiah knew that Sennacherib came to Jerusalem to attack it.

3. हिजकिरयाह ने अपने हाकिमों और वीरों के साथ यह सम्मति की, कि नगर के बाहर के सोतों को पठवा दें; और उन्हों ने उसकी सहायता की।

3. Then Hezekiah talked to his officials and army officers. They all agreed to stop the waters of the water springs outside the city. The officials and army officers helped Hezekiah.

4. इस पर बहुत से लोग इकट्ठे हुए, और यह कहकर, कि अश्शूर के राजा क्यों यहां आएं, और आकर बहुत पानी पाएं, उन्होंने सब सोतों को पाट दिया और उस नदी को सुखा दिया जो देश के मध्य होकर बहती थी।

4. Many people came together and stopped all the springs and the stream that flowed through the middle of the country. They said, 'The king of Assyria will not find much water when he comes here!'

5. फिर हिजकिरयाह ने हियाव बान्धकर शहरपनाह जहां कहीं टूटी थी, वहां वहां उसको बनवाया, और उसे गुम्मटों के बराबर ऊंचा किया और बाहर एक और शहरपनाह बनवाई, और दाऊदपुर में मिल्लो को दृढ़ किया। और बहुत से तीर और ढालें भी बनवाई।

5. Hezekiah made Jerusalem stronger. This is how he did it: He rebuilt all the parts of the wall that were broken down. He also built towers on the wall. He also built another wall outside the first wall. He rebuilt the strong places on the east side of the old part of Jerusalem. He made many weapons and shields.

6. तब उस ने प्रजा के ऊपर सेनापति नियुक्त किए और उनको नगर के फाटक के चौक में इकट्ठा किया, और यह कहकर उनको धीरज दिया,

6. Hezekiah chose officers of war to be in charge of the people. He met with these officers at the open place near the city gate. He talked to the officers and encouraged them. He said, 'Be strong and brave. Don't be afraid or worry about the king of Assyria or the large army with him. There is a greater power with us than the king of Assyria has with him!

7. कि हियाव बान्धो और दृढ हो तुम न तो अश्शूर के राजा से डरो और न उसके संग की सारी भीड़ से, और न तुम्हारा मन कच्चा हो; क्योंकि जो हमारे साथ है, वह उसके संगियों से बड़ा है।

8. अर्थात् उसका सहारा तो मतुष्य ही है परन्तु हमारे साथ, हमारी सहायता और हमारी ओर से युठ्ठ करने को हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा है। इसलिये प्रजा के लोग यहूदा के राजा हिजकिरयाह की बातों पर भरोसा किए रहे।

8. The king of Assyria only has men. But we have the Lord our God with us! Our God will help us. He will fight our battles!' So King Hezekiah of Judah encouraged the people and made them feel stronger.

9. इसके बाद अश्शूर का राजा सन्हेरीब जो सारी सेना समेत लाकीश के साम्हने पड़ा था, उस ने अपने कर्मचारियों को यरूशलेम में यहूदा के राजा हिजकिरयाह और उन सब यहूदियों से जो यरूशलेम में थे यों कहने के लिये भेजा,

9. King Sennacherib of Assyria and all his army were camped near the town of Lachish so that they could defeat it. Then Sennacherib sent his officers to King Hezekiah of Judah and to all the people of Judah in Jerusalem. His officers had a message for Hezekiah and all the people in Jerusalem.

10. कि अश्शूर का राजा सन्हेरीब कहता है, कि तुम्हें किस का भरोसा है जिससे कि तुम घेरे हुए यरूशलेम में बैठे हो?

10. They said, 'King Sennacherib of Assyria says this: 'What do you trust in that makes you stay under attack in Jerusalem?

11. क्या हिजकिरयाह तुम से यह कहकर कि हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हम को अश्शूर के राजा के पंजे से बचाएगा तुम्हें नहीं भरमाता है कि तुम को भूखों प्यासों मारे?

11. Hezekiah is fooling you. You are being tricked into staying in Jerusalem so that you will die from hunger and thirst. Hezekiah says to you, 'The Lord our God will save us from the king of Assyria.'

12. क्या उसी हिजकिरयाह ने उसके ऊंचे स्थान और वेदियो दूर करके यहूदा और यरूशलेम को आज्ञा नहीं दी, कि तुम एक ही वेदी के साम्हने दणडवत करना और उसी पर धूप जलाना?

12. Hezekiah himself took away the Lord's high places and altars. He told you people of Judah and Jerusalem that you must worship and burn incense on only one altar.

13. क्या तुम को मालूम नहीं, कि मैं ने और मेरे पुरखाओं ने देश देश के सब लोगों से क्या क्या किया है? क्या उन देशें की जातियों के देवता किसी भी उपाय से अपने देश को मेरे हाथ से बचा सके?

13. Of course, you know what my ancestors and I have done to all the peoples in other countries. The gods of the other countries could not save their people. Those gods could not stop me from destroying their people.

14. जितनी जातियों का मेरे पुरखाओं ने सत्यानाश किया है उनके सब देवताओं में से ऐसा कौन था जो अपनी प्रजा को मेरे हाथ से बचा सका हो? फिर तुम्हारा देवता तुम को मेरे हाथ से कैसे बचा सकेगा?

14. My ancestors destroyed those countries. There is no god that can stop me from destroying his people. So you think your god can save you from me?

15. अब हिजकिरयाह तुम को इस रीति भुलाने अथवा बहकाने न पाए, और तुम उसकी प्रतीति न करो, क्योंकि किसी जाति या राज्य का कोई देवता अपनी प्रजा को न तो मेरे हाथ से और न मेरे पुरखाओं के हाथ से बचा सका। यह निश्चय है कि तुम्हारा देवता तुम को मेरे हाथ से नहीं बचा सकेगा।

15. Don't let Hezekiah fool you or trick you. Don't believe him because no god of any nation or kingdom has ever been able to keep his people safe from me or my ancestors. Don't think your god can stop me from destroying you.''

16. इस से भी अधिक उसके कर्मचारियों ने यहोवा परमेश्वर की, और उसके दास हिजकिरयाह की निन्दा की।

16. The officers of the king of Assyria said worse things against the Lord God and against Hezekiah, God's servant.

17. फिर उस ने ऐसा एक पत्रा भेजा, जिस में इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की निन्दा की ये बातें लिखी थीं, कि जैसे देश देश की जातियों के देवताओं ने अपनी अपनी प्रजा को मेरे हाथ से नहीं बचाया वैसे ही हिजकिरयाह का देवता भी अपनी प्रजा को मेरे हाथ से नहीं बचा सकेगा।

17. The king of Assyria also wrote letters that insulted the Lord, the God of Israel. This is what the king of Assyria said in those letters: 'The gods of the other nations could not stop me from destroying their people. In the same way Hezekiah's god will not be able to stop me from destroying his people.'

18. और उन्हों ने ऊंचे शब्द से उन यरूशलेमियों को जो शहरपनाह पर बैठे थे, यहूदी बोली में पुकारा, कि उनको डराकर घबराहट में डाल दें जिस से नगर को ले लें।

18. Then the Assyrian officers shouted loudly to the people of Jerusalem who were on the city wall. They spoke in the language of Judah so that the people on the wall could understand and be frightened enough that the Assyrians could capture the city of Jerusalem.

19. और उन्हों ने यरूशलेम के परमेश्वर की ऐसी चर्चा की, कि मानो पृथ्वी के देश देश के लोगों के देवताओं के बराबर हो, जो मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए हैं।

19. Then they insulted the God of Jerusalem just as they had insulted all the gods of the people from other nations� even though those gods are only things people made with their hands.

20. तब इन घटनाओं के कारण राजा हिजकिरयाह और आमोस के पुत्रा यशायाह नबी दोनों ने प्रार्थना की और स्वर्ग की ओर दोहाई दी।

20. Hezekiah the king and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz prayed about this problem. They prayed very loudly to heaven.

21. तब यहोवा ने एक दूत भेज दिया, जिस ने अश्शूर के राजा की छावनी में सब शूरवीरों, प्रधानों और सेनापतियों को नाश किया। और वह लज्जित होकर, आने देश को लौट गया। और जब वह अपने देवता के भवन में था, तब उसके निज पुत्रों ने वहीं उसे तलवार से मार डाला।

21. Then the Lord sent an angel to the king of Assyria's camp. That angel killed all the soldiers, leaders, and officers in the Assyrian army. So the king of Assyria went back home to his own country, and his people were ashamed of him. He went into the temple of his god and some of his own sons killed him there with a sword.

22. यों यहोवा ने हिजकिरयाह और यरूशलेम के निवासियों को अश्शूर के राजा सन्हेरीब और अपने सब शत्रुओं के हाथ से बचाया, और चारों ओर उनकी अगुवाई की।

22. So the Lord saved Hezekiah and the people in Jerusalem from King Sennacherib of Assyria and from all other people. The Lord cared for Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem.

23. और बहुत लोग यरूशलेम को यहोवा के लिये भेंट और यहूदा के राजा हिजकिरयाह के लिये अनमोल वस्तुएं ले आने लगे, और उस समय से वह सब जातियों की दृष्टि में महान ठहरा।

23. Many people brought gifts for the Lord to Jerusalem. They brought valuable things to King Hezekiah of Judah. From that time on, all the nations respected Hezekiah.

24. उन दिनों हिजकिरयाह ऐसा रोगी हुआ, कि वह मरा चाहता था, तब उस ने यहोवा से प्रार्थना की; और उस ने उस से बातें करके उसके लिये एक चमत्कार दिखाया।

24. It was in those days that Hezekiah became very sick and near death. He prayed to the Lord. The Lord spoke to Hezekiah and gave him a sign.

25. परन्तु हिजकिरयाह ने उस उपकार का बदला न दिया, क्योंकि उसका मन फूल उठा था। इस कारण उसका कोप उस पर और यहूदा और यरूशलेम पर भड़का।

25. But Hezekiah's heart was proud, so he did not give God thanks for his kindness. This is why God was angry with Hezekiah and with the people of Judah and Jerusalem.

26. तब हिजकिरयाह यरूशलेम के निवासियों समेत अपने मन के फूलने के कारण दीन हो गया, इसलिये यहोवा का क्रोध उन पर हिजकिरयाह के दिनों में न भड़का।

26. But Hezekiah and the people living in Jerusalem changed their hearts and lives. They became humble and stopped being proud. So the Lord's anger didn't come on them while Hezekiah was alive.

27. और हिजकिरयाह को बहुत ही धन और विभव मिला; और उस ने चान्दी, सोने, मणियों, सुगन्धद्रव्य, ढालों और सब प्रकार के मनभावने पात्रों के लिये भणडार बनवाए।

27. Hezekiah had many riches and much honor. He made places to keep silver, gold, valuable jewels, spices, shields, and all kinds of things.

28. फिर उस ने अन्न, नया दाखमधु, और टटका लेल के लिये भणडार, और सब भांति के पशुओं के लिये थान, और भेड़- बकरियों के लिये भेड़शालाएं बनवाई।

28. Hezekiah had storage buildings for the grain, new wine, and oil that people sent to him. He had stalls for all the cattle and stalls for the sheep.

29. और उस ने नगर बसाए, और बहुत ही भेड़- बकरियों और गाय- बैलों की सम्पत्ति इकट्ठा कर ली, क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने उसे बहुत ही धन दिया था।

29. Hezekiah also built many towns, and he got many flocks of sheep and cattle. God gave him much wealth.

30. उसी हिजकिरयाह ने गीहोन नाम नदी के ऊपर के सोते को पाटकर उस नदी को नीचे की ओर दाऊदपुर की पच्छिम अलंग को सीधा पहुंचाया, और हिजकिरयाह अपने सब कामों में कृतार्थ होता था।

30. It was Hezekiah who stopped up the upper source of the waters of the Gihon Spring in Jerusalem and made the waters flow straight down on the west side of the City of David. And he was successful in everything he did.

31. तौभी जब बाबेल के हाकिमों ने उसके पास उसके देश में किए हुए चमत्कार के विषय पूछने को दूत भेजे तब परमेश्वर ने उसको इसलिये छोड़ दिया, कि उसको परख कर उसके मन का सारा भेद जान ले।

31. One time the leaders of Babylon sent messengers to Hezekiah. The messengers asked about a strange sign that had happened in the nations. When they came, God left Hezekiah alone to test him and to know everything that was in Hezekiah's heart.

32. हिजकिरयाह के और काम, ओर उसके भक्ति के काम आमोस के पुत्रा यशायाह नबी के दर्शन नाम पुस्तक में, और यहूदा और इस्राएल के राजाओं के इतिहास की पुस्तक में लिखे हैं।

32. Everything else Hezekiah did and how he loved the Lord are written in the book, The Vision of the Prophet Isaiah Son of Amoz and in the book, The History of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

33. अन्त में हिजकिरयाह अपने पुरखाओं के संग सो गया और उसको दाऊद की सन्तान के कब्रिस्तान की चढाई पर मिट्टी दी गई, और सब यहूदियों और यरूशलेम के निवासियों ने उसकी मृत्यु पर उसका आदरमान किया। और उसका पुत्रा मनश्शे उसके स्थान पर राज्य करने लगा।

33. Hezekiah died and was buried with his ancestors. The people buried him on the hill where the graves of David's ancestors are. All the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem gave honor to Hezekiah when he died. Hezekiah's son Manasseh became the new king in his place.
