1. और अराम के राजा बेन्हदद ने अपनी सारी सेना इकट्ठी की, और उसके साथ बत्तीस राजा और घोड़े और रथ थे; उन्हें संग लेकर उस ने शोमरोन पर चढ़ाई की, और उसे घेर के उसके विरूद्ध लड़ा।

1. And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his hoast together, hauing thirtie & two kinges with him, and horses and charets: and went vp and besieged Samaria, & warred against it.

2. और उस ने नगर में इस्राएल के राजा अहाब के पास दूतों को यह कहने के लिये भेजा, कि बेन्हदद तुझ से यों कहता है,

2. And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the citie, and sayde vnto him, thus saith Benhadad.

3. कि तेरा चान्दी सोना मेरा है, और तेरी स्त्रियों और लड़केबालों में जो जो उत्तम हैं वह भी सब मेरे हैं।

3. Thy siluer & thy gold is myne, & the fayrest of thy wiues & of thy childre be mine.

4. इस्राएल के राजा ने उसके पास कहला भेजा, हे मेरे प्रभु ! हे राजा ! तेरे वचन के अनुसार मैं और मेरा जो कुछ है, सब तेरा है।

4. And the king of Israel aunswered and said: My lord king, according to thy saying, I am thyne and all that I haue.

5. उन्हीं दूतों ने फिर आकर कहा बेन्हदद तुझ से यों कहता है, कि मैं ने तेरे पास यह कहला भेजा था कि तुझे अपनी चान्दी सोना और स्त्रियां और बालक भी मुझे देने पड़ेंगे।

5. And when the messengers came againe, they sayd, thus sayth Benhadad: Forasmuch as I haue sent vnto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliuer me thy siluer and thy golde, and thy wyues, and thy children:

6. परन्तु कल इसी समय मैं अपने कर्मचारियों को तेरे पास भेजूंगा और वे तेरे और तेरे कर्मचारियों के धरों में ढूंढ़- ढांढ़ करेंगे, और तेरी जो जो मनभावनी वस्तुएं निकालें उन्हें वे अपने अपने हाथ में लेकर आएंगे।

6. I will therfore send my seruauntes vnto thee to morowe this time: and they shall searche thyne house, & the houses of thy seruauntes, and whatsoeuer is pleasaunt in thyne eyes, they shall take it in their handes, and bring it away.

7. तब इस्राएल के राजा ने अपने देश के सब पुरनियों को बुलवाकर कहा, सोच विचार करो, कि वह मनुष्य हमारी हानि ही का अभिलाषी है; उस ने मुझ से मेरी स्त्रियां, बालक, चान्दी सोना मंगा भेजा है, और मैं ने इन्कार न किया।

7. Then the king of Israel sent for all the elders of the land, and said: Take heede I pray you, and see howe this felowe goeth about mischiefe: For he sent vnto me for my wiues, for my children, for my siluer, and for my golde, and I denyed him not.

8. तब सब पुरनियों ने और सब साधारण लोगों ने उस से कहा, उसकी न सुनना; और न मानना।

8. And all the elders and all the people said: Hearken not vnto him, nor consent.

9. तब राजा ने बेन्हदद के दूतों से कहा, मेरे प्रभु राजा से मेरी ओर से कहो, जो कुुछ तू ने पहिले अपने दास से चाहा था वह तो मैं करूंगा, परन्तु यह मुझ से न होगा। तब बेन्हदद के दूतों ने जाकर उसे यह उत्तर सुना दिया।

9. Wherfore he sayde vnto the messengers of Benhadad: Tell my lord the king, all that thou dyddest send for to thy seruaut at the first time, that I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought aunswere againe.

10. And Benhadad sent vnto him againe, and sayde: Thus and thus do the gods vnto me, if the dust of Samaria be enough for al the people that folowe me, to take euery man an handfull.

11. तब बेन्हदद ने अहाब के पास कहला भेजा, यदि शोमरोन में इतनी धूलि निकले कि मेरे सब पीछे चलनेहारों की मुट्ठी भर कर अट जाए तो देवता मेरे साथ ऐसा ही वरन इस से भी अधिक करें।

11. And the king of Israel aunswered, and sayd: Tell him, let not him that putteth on his harnesse boast him selfe, as he that putteth it of.

12. इस्राएल के राजा ने उत्तर देकर कहा, उस से कहो, कि जो हथियार बान्धता हो वह उसकी नाई न फूले जो उन्हें उतारता हो।

12. And it fortuned, that when Benhadad hearde that tydinges, as he was with the kinges drinking within the pauilions, and he saide vnto this seruauntes, Put your selues in order. And they set them selues in aray against the citie.

13. यह वचन सुनते ही वह जो और राजाओं समेत डेरों में पी रहा था, उस ने अपने कर्मचारियों से कहा, पांति बान्धो, तब उन्हों ने नगर के विरूद्ध पांति बान्धी।

13. And beholde, there came a prophete vnto Ahab king of Israel, saying, thus sayeth the Lord: Hast thou seene all this great multitude? beholde, I will deliuer it into thyne hand this day, & thou shalt knowe that I am the Lorde.

14. तब एक नबी ते इस्राएल के राजा अहाब के पास जाकर कहा, यहोवा तुझ से यों कहता है, यह बड़ी भीड़ जो तू ने देखी है, उस सब को मैं आज तेरे हाथ में कर दूंगा, इस से तू जान लेगा, कि मैं यहोवा हूँ।

14. And Ahab sayd: By whom? He sayde: Thus sayth the Lorde, euen by the seruauntes of the gouernours of ye shyres. He sayd againe: who shall order the battayle? And he aunswered: Thou.

15. अहाब ने पूछा, किस के द्वारा? उस ने कहा यहोवा यों कहता है, कि प्रदेशों के हाकिमों के सेवकों के द्वारा ! फिर उस ने पूछा, युठ्ठ को कौन आरम्भ करे? उस ने उत्तर दिया, तू ही।

15. Then he numbred the seruauntes of the gouernours of the shyres, & they were two hundred and thirtie and two: And after them also he numbred all the people of the children of Israel [euen] seuen thousande.

16. तब उस ने प्रदेशों के हाकिमों के सेवकों की गिनती ली, और वे दो सौ बत्तीस निकले; और उनके बाद उस ने सब इस्राएली लोगों की गिनती ली, और वे सात हजार निकले।

16. And they went out at noone: but Benhadad dyd drinke till he was drunken in the pauillions, both he and the kinges: eue thirtie & two kinges, that holpe him.

17. ये दोपहर को निकल गए, उस समय बेन्हदद अपने सहायक बत्तीसों राजाओं समेत डेरों में दारू पीकर मतवाला हो रहा था।

17. And the seruauntes of the gouernours of the shyres went out first, and Benhadad sent out, & they shewed him, saying: There are men come out of Samaria.

18. प्रदेशों के हाकिमों के सेवक पहिले निकले। तब बेन्हदद ने दूत भेजे, और उन्हों ने उस से कहा, शोमरोन से कुछ मनुष्य निकले आते हैं।

18. He sayde: Whether they be come out for peace, take them alyue: or whether they be come out to fight, take them yet alyue.

19. उस ने कहा, चाहे वे मेल करने को निकले हों, चाहे लड़ने को, तौभी उन्हें जीवित ही पकड़ लाओ।

19. And so those young men of the gouernours of the shyres came out of the citie, and the hoast after them:

20. तब प्रदेशों के हाकिमों के सेवक और उनके पीछे की सेना के सिपाही नगर से निकले।

20. And they slue euery one his enemie [that came in his way:] and the Syrians fled, & they of Israel folowed after the: And Benhadad the king of Syria scaped on a horse, with his horsemen.

21. तौर वे अपने अपने साम्हने के पुरूष को पारने लगे; और अरामी भागे, और इस्राएल ने उनका पीछा किया, और अराम का राजा बेन्हदद, सवारों के संग घोड़े पर चढ़ा, और भागकर बच गया।

21. And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and charettes, & with a great slaughter slue he the Syrians.

22. तब इस्राएल के राजा ने भी निकलकर घोड़ों और रथों को मारा, और अरामियों को बड़ी मार से मारा।

22. (And there came a prophete to the king of Israel, and said vnto him: Go foorth, and play the man, be wyse, & take heede what thou doest: for when the yere is gone about, the king of Syria will come vp against thee.)

23. तब उस नबी ने इस्राएल के राजा के पास जाकर कहा, जाकर लड़ाई के लिये अपने को दृढ़ कर, और सचेत होकर सोच, कि क्या करना है, क्योंकि नये वर्ष के लगते ही अराम का राजा फिर तुझ पर चढ़ाई करेगा।

23. And the seruauntes of the king of Syria sayde vnto him: The gods of the hilles are their gods, and therefore they had the better of vs: but let vs fight against them in the playne, and [for what ye will] we shall haue the better of them.

24. तब अराम के राजा के कर्मचारियों ने उस से कहा, उन लोगों का देवता पहाड़ी देवता है, इस कारण वे हम पर प्रबल हुए; इसलिये हम उन से चौरस भूमि पर लड़ें तो निश्चय हम उन पर प्रबल हो जाएंगे।

24. And this do: Take the kinges away euery man out of his place, & put dukes in their roomes:

25. और यह भी काम कर, अर्थात् सब राजाओं का पद ले ले, और उनके स्थान पर सेनापतियों को ठहरा दे।

25. And do thou number thee an hoast, lyke the hoast that thou hast lost, such horses and suche charets, and we will fight against them in the plaine, and thou shalt see vs get the better of the. And he hearkened vnto their voyce, and dyd euen so.

26. फिर एक और सेना जो तेरी उस सेना के बराबर हो जो नष्ट हो गई है, घोड़े के बदले घोड़ा, और रथ के बदले रथ, अपने लिये गिन ले; तब हम चौरस भूमि पर उन से लड़ें, और निश्चय उन पर प्रबल हो जाएंगे। उनकी यह सम्मति मानकर बेन्हदद ने वैसा ही किया।

26. And it fortuned, that after the yere was gone about, Benhadad numbred the Syrians, and went vp to Aphec to fight against Israel.

27. और नये वर्ष के लगते ही बेन्हदद ने अरामियों को इकट्ठा किया, और इस्राएल से लड़ने के लिये अपेक को गया।

27. And the children of Israel were numbred, & with their whole number went they against them, and the children of Israel pitched before them lyke two litle flockes of kiddes: but the Syrians filled the countrey.

28. और इस्राएली भी इकट्ठे किए गए, और उनके भोजन की तैयारी हुई; तब वे उनका साम्हना करने को गए, और इस्राएली उनके साम्हने डेरे डालकर बकरियों के दो छोटे झुणड से देख पड़े, परन्तु अरामियों से देश भर गया।

28. And there came a man of God, and sayd vnto the king of Israel, thus sayth the Lorde: Because the Syrians haue sayd, the Lorde is but God of the hilles, and not God of the valleys: therfore wil I deliuer all this great multitude into thyne hande, and ye shall knowe that I am the Lorde.

29. तब परमेश्वर के उसी जन ने इस्राएल के राजा के पास जाकर कहा, यहोवा यों कहता है, अरामियों ने यह कहा है, कि यहोवा पहाड़ी देवता है, परन्तु नीची भूमि का नहीं है; इस कारण मैं उस बड़ी भीड़ को तेरे हाथ में कर दूंगा, तब तुम्हें बोध हो जाएगा कि मैं यहोवा हूँ।

29. And they pitched one ouer against the other seuen dayes: and it came to passe, that in the seuenth day the battaile was ioyned, and the children of Israel slue of the Syrians an hundred thousande footemen in one day.

30. और वे सात दिन आम्हने साम्हने डेरे डाले पड़े रहे; तब सातवें दिन युठ्ठ छिड़ गया; और एक दिन में इस्राएलियों ने एक लाख अरामी पियादे मार डाले।

30. But the rest fled to Aphec into the citie, and there fell a wall vpon twentie and seuen thousande of the men that were left: And Benhadad fled, and came into the citie, from chamber to chamber.

31. जो बच गए, वह अपेक को भागकर नगर में घुसे, और वहां उन बचे हुए लोगों में से सत्ताईस हजार पुरूष श्हरपनाह की दीवाल के गिरने से दब कर मर गए। बेन्हदद भी भाग गया और नगर की एक भीतरी कोठरी में गया।

31. And his seruauntes said vnto him: Behold, we haue heard say that the kinges of the house of Israel are mercyfull kinges: We will therfore put sackcloth about our loynes, and ropes about our heades, and go out to the king of Israel, if happyly he will saue thy lyfe.

32. तब उसके कर्मचारियों ने उस से कहा, सुन, हम ने तो सुना है, कि इस्राएल के घराने के राजा दयालु राजा होते हैं, इसदिये हमें कमर में टाट और सिर पर रस्सियां बान्धे हुए इस्राएल के राजा के पास जाने दे, सम्भव है कि वह तेरा प्राण बचा ले।

32. And so they girded sackcloth about their loynes, & put ropes about their heades, and came to the king of Israel, and said: Thy seruaunt Benhadad sayth, I pray thee let me lyue. He sayde: Is he yet alyue? he is my brother.

33. तब वे कमर में टाट और सिर पर रस्सियां बान्ध कर इस्राएल के राजा के पास जाकर कहने लगे, तेरा दास बेन्हदद तुझ से कहता है, कृपा कर के मुझे जीवित रहने दे। राजा ने उत्तर दिया, क्या वह अब तक जीवित है? वह तो मेरा भाई है।

33. And ye men toke that word for good lucke and hastyly caught it out of his mouth, and sayd: Yea thy brother Benhadad. He sayde: Go, bring him hyther. And Benhadad came out vnto him, and he caused him to come vp into the charet.

34. उन लोगों ने इसे शुभ शकुन जानकर, फुत से बूझ लेने का यत्न किया कि यह उसके मन की बात है कि नहीं, और कहा, हां तेरा भाई बेन्हदद। राजा ने कहा, जाकर उसको ले आओ। तब बेन्हदद उसके पास निकल आया, और उस ने उसे अपने रथ पर चढ़ा लिया।

34. And he said vnto him: The cities which my father toke from thy father, I will restore agayne, and thou shalt make streates for thee in Damasco, as my father dyd in Samaria: And I wil make an appoyntment with thee, & send the away. And so he made an appoyntment with him, and sent him away.

35. तब बेन्हदद ने उस से कहा, जो नगर मेरे पीता ने तेरे पिता से ले लिए थे, उनको मैं फेर दूंगा; और जैसे मेरे पिता ने शोमरोन में अपने लिये सड़कें बनवाई, वैसे ही तू दमिश्क में सड़कें बनवाना। अहाब ने कहा, मैं इसी वाचा पर तुझे छोड़ देता हूँ, तब उस ने बेन्हदद से वाचा बान्धकर, उसे स्वतन्त्रा कर दिया।

35. And there was a certayne man of the children of the prophetes, whiche sayde vnto his neyghbour in the word of the Lord: Smyte me I pray thee. And the man woulde not smyte him.

36. इसके बाद नबियों के चेलों में से एक जन ने यहोवा से वचन पाकर अपने संगी से कहा, मुझे मार, जब उस मनुष्य ने उसे मारने से इनकार किया,

36. Then sayd he vnto him: Because thou hast not hearkened vnto the voyce of the Lorde: beholde, assoone as thou art departed fro me, a lion shal slay thee. And it came to passe, that assoone as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slue him.

37. तब उस ने उस से कहा, तू ने यहोवा का वचन नहीं माना, इस कारण सुन, ज्योंही तू मेरे पास से चला जाएगा, त्योंही सिंह से मार डाला जाएगा। तब ज्योंही वह उसके पास से चला गया, ज्योंही उसे एक सिंह मिला, और उसको मार डाला।

37. Then he founde another man, & sayde: Smyte me I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smyting he wounded him.

38. फिर उसको दूसरा मनुष्य मिला, और उस से भी उस ने कहा, मुझे मार। और उस ने उसको ऐसा मारा कि वह घायल हुआ।

38. So the prophete went foorth, & wayted for the king by the way, and put him selfe out of knowledge with ashes whiche he layed vpon his face.

39. तब वह नबी चला गया, और आंखों को पगड़ी से ढांपकर राजा की बाट जोहता हुआ मार्ग पर खड़ा रहा।

39. And when the king came by, he cryed vnto the king, and sayde: Thy seruaunt wet out in the middes of the battel, and behold there went away a man, whom another man brought vnto me, & sayde, Kepe this man: and if he be myssed or lost, thy lyfe shall go for his, or els thou shalt pay a talent of siluer.

40. जब राजा पास होकर जा रहा था, तब उस ने उसकी दोहाई देकर कहा, कि जब तेरा दास युठ्ठ क्षेत्रा में गया था तब कोइ मनुष्य मेरी ओर मुड़कर किसी मनुष्य को मेरे पास ले आया, और मुझ से कहा, इस पतुष्य की चौकसी कर; यदि यह किसी रीति छूट जाए, तो उसके प्राण के बदले तुझे अपना प्राण देना होगा; नहीं तो किक्कार भर चान्दी देना पड़ेगा।

40. And as thy seruaunt had here & there to do, he was gone. And the king of Israel sayde vnto him: Euen so shall thy iudgement be, as thou hast defined it thy selfe.

41. उसके बाद तेरा दास इधर उधर काम में फंस गया, फिर वह न मिला। इस्राएल के राजा ने उस से कहा, तेरा ऐसा ही न्याय होगा; तू ने आप अपना न्याय किया है।

41. And he hasted, & toke the ashes away from his face, and the king of Israel knewe him, that he was of ye prophetes.

42. नबी ने झट अपनी आंखों से पगड़ी उठाई, तब इस्राएल के राजा ने उसे पहिचान लिया, कि वह कोई नबी है।

42. And he sayde vnto him, Thus sayth the Lorde: Because thou hast let go out of thy hande a man that is in my curse, thy lyfe shall go for his lyfe, and thy people for his people.

43. तब उस ने राजा से कहा, यहोवा तुझ से यों कहता है, इसलिये कि तू ने अपने हाथ से ऐसे ऐक मनुष्य को जाने दिया, जिसे मैं ने सत्यानाश हो जाने को ठहराया था, तुझे उसके प्राण की सन्ती अपना प्राण और उसकी प्रजा की सन्ती, अपनी प्रजा देनी पड़ेगी।

43. And the king of Israel went to his house wayward and in displeasure, and came to Samaria.
