1. एप्रैम के पहाड़ी देश के रामतैम सोपीम नाम नगर का निवासी एल्काना नाम पुरूष था, वह एप्रेमी था, और सूप के पुत्रा तोहू का परपोता, एलीहू का पोता, और यरोहाम का पुत्रा था।

1. Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of Mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.

2. और उसके दो पत्नियां थीं; एक का तो नाम हन्ना और दूसरी का पनिन्ना था। और पनिन्ना के तो बालक हुए, परन्तु हन्ना के कोई बालक न हुआ।

2. And he had two wives: the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

3. वह पुरूष प्रति वर्ष अपने नगर से सेनाओं के यहोवा को दण्डवत् करने और मेलबलि चढ़ाने के लिये शीलो में जाता था; और वहां होप्नी और पीनहास नाम एली के दोनों पुत्रा रहते थे, जो यहोवा के याजक थे।

3. And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

4. और जब जब एल्काना मेलबलि चढ़ाता था तब तब वह अपनी पत्नी पनिन्ना को और उसके सब बेटे- बेटियों को दान दिया करता था;

4. And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters, portions.

5. परन्तु हन्ना को वह दूना दान दिया करता था, क्योंकि वह हन्ना से प्रीति रखता था; तौभी यहोवा ने उसकी कोख बन्द कर रखी थी।

5. But unto Hannah he gave a double portion, for he loved Hannah; but the LORD had shut up her womb.

6. परन्तु उसकी सौत इस कारण से, कि यहोवा ने उसकी कोख बन्द कर रखी थी, उसे अत्यन्त चिढ़ाकर कुढ़ाती रहती थीं।

6. And her adversary also provoked her sorely to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

7. और वह तो प्रति वर्ष ऐसा ही करता था; और जब हन्ना यहोवा के भवन को जाती थी तब पनिन्ना उसको चिढ़ाती थी। इसलिये वह रोती और खाना न खाती थी।

7. And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.

8. इसलिये उसके पति एल्काना ने उस से कहा, हे हन्ना, तू क्यों रोती है? और खाना क्यों नहीं खाती? और मेरा मन क्यों उदास है? क्या तेरे लिये मैं दस बेटों से भी अच्छा नहीं हूं?

8. Then said Elkanah her husband to her, 'Hannah, why weepest thou? And why eatest thou not? And why is thy heart grieved? Am not I better to thee than ten sons?'

9. तब शीलो में खाने और पीने के बाद हन्ना उठी। और यहोवा के मन्दिर के चौखट के एक अलंग के पास एली याजक कुर्सी पर बैठा हुआ था।

9. So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh and after they had drunk. (Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.)

10. और यह मन में व्याकुल होकर यहोवा से प्रार्थना करने और बिलख बिलखकर रोने लगी।

10. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD and wept sorely.

11. और उस ने यह मन्नत मानी, कि हे सेनाओं के यहोवा, यदि तू अपनी दासी के दु:ख पर सचमुच दृष्टि करे, और मेरी सुधि ले, और अपनी दासी को भूल न जाए, और अपनी दासी को पुत्रा दे, तो मैं उसे उसके जीवन भर के लिये यहोवा को अर्पण करूंगी, और उसके सिर पर छुरा फिरने न पाएगा।

11. And she vowed a vow and said, 'O LORD of hosts, if Thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of Thine handmaid, and remember me and not forget Thine handmaid, but wilt give unto Thine handmaid a manchild, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.'

12. जब वह यहोवा के साम्हने ऐसी प्रार्थना कर रही थी, तब एली उसके मुंह की ओर ताक रहा था।

12. And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli observed her mouth.

13. हन्ना मन ही मन कह रही थी; उसके होंठ तो हिलते थे परन्तु उसका शब्द न सुन पड़ता था; इसलिये एली ने समझा कि वह नशे में है।

13. Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

14. तब एली ने उस से कहा, तू कब तक नशे में रहेगी? अपना नशा उतार।

14. And Eli said unto her, 'How long wilt thou be drunken? Put away thy wine from thee.'

15. हन्ना ने कहा, नहीं, हे मेरे प्रभु, मैं तो दु:खिया हूं; मैं ने न तो दाखमधु पिया है और न मदिरा, मैं ने अपने मन की बात खोलकर यहोवा से कही है।

15. And Hannah answered and said, 'No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

16. अपनी दासी को ओछी स्त्री न जान जो कुछ मैं ने अब तक कहा है, वह बहुत ही शोकित होने और चिढ़ाई जाने के कारण कहा है।

16. Count not thine handmaid as a daughter of Belial, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.'

17. एली ने कहा, कुशल से चली जा; इस्राएल का परमेश्वर तुझे मन चाहा वर दे।
मरकुस 5:34

17. Then Eli answered and said, 'Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of Him.'

18. उसे ने कहा, तेरी दासी तेरी दृष्टि में अनुग्रह पाए। तब वह स्त्री चली गई और खाना खाया, और उसका मुंह फिर उदास न रहा।

18. And she said, 'Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight.' So the woman went her way and ate, and her countenance was no more sad.

19. बिहान को वे सवेरे उठ यहोवा को दण्डवत् करके रामा में अपने घर लौट गए। और एलकाना अपनी स्त्री हन्ना के पास गया, और यहोवा ने उसकी सुधि ली;

19. And they rose up in the morning early and worshiped before the LORD, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.

20. तब हन्ना गर्भवती हुई और समय पर उसके एक पुत्रा हुआ, और उसका नाम शमूएल रखा, क्योंकि वह कहने लगी, मैं ने यहोवा से मांगकर इसे पाया है।

20. Therefore it came to pass, when the time had come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bore a son and called his name Samuel [that is, Asked of God], saying, 'Because I have asked him of the LORD.'

21. फिर एल्काना अपने पूरे घराने समेत यहोवा के साम्हने प्रति वर्ष की मेलबलि चढ़ाने और अपनी मन्नत पूरी करने के लिये गया।

21. And the man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice and his vow.

22. परन्तु हन्ना अपने पति से यह कहकर घर में रह गई, कि जब बालक का दूध छूट जाएगा तब मैं उसको ले जाऊंगी, कि वह यहोवा को मुंह दिखाए, और वहां सदा बना रहे।

22. But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, 'I will not go up until the child is weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD and there abide for ever.'

23. उसके पति एलकाना ने उस से कहा, जो तुझे भला लगे वही कर, जब तक तू उसका दूध न छुड़ाए तब तक यहीं ठहरी रह; केवल इतना हो कि यहोवा अपना वचन पूरा करे। इसलिये वह स्त्री वहीं घर पर रह गई और अपने पुत्रा के दूध छुटने के समय तक उसको पिलाती रही।

23. And Elkanah her husband said unto her, 'Do what seemeth to thee good. Tarry until thou have weaned him, only the LORD establish His word.' So the woman remained, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

24. जब उस ने उसका दूध छुड़ाया तब वह उसको संग ले गई, और तीन बछड़े, और एपा भर आटा, और कुप्पी भर दाखमधु भी ले गई, और उस लड़के को शीलो में यहोवा के भवन में पहुंचा दिया; उस समय वह लड़का ही था।

24. And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks and one ephah of flour and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh; and the child was young.

25. और उन्हों ने बछड़ा बलि करके बालक को एली के पास पहुंचा दिया।

25. And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

26. तब हन्ना ने कहा, हे मेरे प्रभु, तेरे जीवन की शपथ, हे मेरे प्रभु, मैं वही स्त्री हूं जो तेरे पास यहीं खड़ी होकर यहोवा से प्रार्थना करती थी।

26. And she said, 'Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman who stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.

27. यह वही बालक है जिसके लिये मैं ने प्रार्थना की थी; और यहोवा ने मुझे मुंह मांगा वर दिया है।

27. For this child I prayed, and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of Him.

28. इसी लिये मैं भी उसे यहोवा को अर्पण कर देती हूं; कि यह अपने जीवन भर यहोवा ही का बना रहे। तब उस ने वहीं यहोवा को दण्डवत् किया।।

28. Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD.' And he worshiped the LORD there.
