1. अब मूरतों के साम्हने बलि की हुई वस्तुओं के विषय में हम जानते हैं, कि हम सब को ज्ञान है: ज्ञान घमण्ड उत्पन्न करता है, परन्तु प्रेम से उन्नति होती है।

1. Now, concerning the idol-sacrifices, we are aware because we, all, have knowledge, knowledge, puffeth up, but, love, buildeth up;

2. यदि कोई समझे, कि मैं कुछ जानता हूं, तो जैसा जानना चाहिए वैसा अब तक नहीं जानता।

2. If anyone thinketh that he knoweth anything, not yet knoweth he, as he must needs come to know,

3. परन्तु यदि कोई परमेश्वर से प्रेम रखता है, तो उसे परमेश्वर पहिचानता है।

3. But, if anyone loveth God, the same, is known of him

4. सो मूरतों के साम्हने बलि की हुई वस्तुओं के खाने के विषय में हम जानते हैं, कि मूरत जगत में कोई वस्तु नहीं, और एक को छोड़ और कोई परमेश्वर नहीं।

4. Concerning, then, the eating of idol-sacrifices, we are aware that an idol is, nothing, in the world, and that, none, is God save one.

5. यद्यपि आकाश में और पृथ्वी पर बहुत से ईश्वर कहलाते हैं, (जैसा कि बहुत से ईश्वर ओर बहुत से प्रभु हैं)।

5. For, if indeed there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or upon earth, as indeed there are gods many and lords many,

6. तौभी हमारे निकट तो एक ही परमेश्वर है: अर्थात् पिता जिस की ओर से सब वस्तुएं हैं, और हम उसी के लिये हैं, और एक ही प्रभु है, अर्थात् यीशु मसीह जिस के द्वारा सब वस्तुएं हुई, और हम भी उसी के द्वारा हैं।

6. Yet , to us, there is one God the Father, of whom are all things, and, we, for him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and, we, through him.

7. परन्तु सब को यह ज्ञान नही; परन्तु कितने तो अब तक मूरत को कुछ समझने के कारण मूरतों के साम्हने बलि की हुई को कुछ वस्तु समझकर खाते हैं, और उन का विवेक निर्बल होकर अशुद्ध होता है।

7. Howbeit, not in all, is the knowledge; but, some, by their familiarity, until even now, with the idol, as an idol-sacrifice, eat it, and, their conscience, being, weak, is defiled.

8. भेजन हमें परमेश्वर के निकट नहीं पहुंचाता, यदि हम न खांए, तो हमारी कुछ हानि नहीं, और यदि खाएं, तो कुछ लाभ नहीं।

8. Food, indeed, will not commend us unto God, neither, if we eat not, do we lack, nor, if we eat, do we abound.

9. परन्तु चौकस रहो, ऐसा न हो, कि तुम्हारी यह स्वतंत्राता कहीं निर्बलों के लिये ठोकर का कारण हो जाए।

9. But be taking heed, lest, by any means, your right, itself, become, an occasion of stumbling, unto the weak;

10. क्योंकि यदि कोई तुझ ज्ञानी को मूरत के मन्दिर में भोजन करते देखे, और वह निर्बल जन हो, तो क्या उसके विवेक में मूरत के साम्हने बलि की हुई वस्तु के खाने का हियाव न हो जाएगा।

10. For, if anyone should see thee who hast knowledge, in an idol-temple, reclining, will not, his conscience, being, weak, be built up for the eating of the idol-sacrifices?

11. इस रीति से तेरे ज्ञान के कारण वह निर्बल भाई जिस के लिये मसीह मरा नाश हो जाएगा।

11. In fact, he that is weak, is being destroyed, by thy knowledge the brother for whose sake Christ died.

12. सो भाइयों का अपराध करने से ओर उन के निर्बल विवेक को चोट देने से तुम मसीह का अपराध करते हो।

12. But, in thus sinning against the brethren am wounding their conscience, seeing it is weak, against Christ, are ye sinning.

13. इस कारण यदि भोजन मेरे भाई को ठोकर खिलाए, तो मैं कभी किसी रीति से मांस न खाऊंगा, न हो कि मैं अपने भाई के ठोकर का कारण बनूं।

13. Therefore, if food is an occasion of stumbling unto my brother, in nowise will I eat flesh unto the age that abideth, that, I may not occasion, my brother, to stumble.
