1. This is a record of the family line of Jesus Christ. He is the son of David. He is also the son of Abraham.

2. Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was the father of Jacob. Jacob was the father of Judah and his brothers.

7. Solomon was the father of Rehoboam. Rehoboam was the father of Abijah. Abijah was the father of Asa.

8. Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat was the father of Jehoram. Jehoram was the father of Uzziah.

9. Uzziah was the father of Jotham. Jotham was the father of Ahaz. Ahaz was the father of Hezekiah.

10. और हिजिकिरयाह से मनश्शिह उत्पन्न हुआ। और मनश्शिह से आमोन उत्पन्न हुआ; और आमोन से योशिरयाह उत्पन्न हुआ।

10. Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh. Manasseh was the father of Amon. Amon was the father of Josiah.

11. और बन्दी होकर बाबूल जाने के समय में योशिरयाह से यकुन्याह, और उस के भाई उत्पन्न हुए।।

11. And Josiah was the father of Jeconiah and his brothers. At that time, the Jewish people were forced to go away to Babylon.

12. बन्दी होकर बाबुल पहुंचाए जाने के बाद यकुन्याह से शालतिएल उत्पन्न हुआ; और शालतिएल से जरूब्बाबिल उत्पन्न हुआ।

12. After this, the family line continued. Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel. Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel.

13. और जरूब्बाबिल से अबीहूद उत्पन्न हुआ, और अबीहूद से इल्याकीम उत्पन्न हुआ; और इल्याकीम से अजोर उत्पन्न हुआ।

13. Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud. Abiud was the father of Eliakim. Eliakim was the father of Azor.

14. और अजोर से सदोक उत्पन्न हुआ; और सदोक से अखीम उत्पन्न हुआ; और अखीम से इलीहूद उत्पन्न हुआ।

14. Azor was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Akim. Akim was the father of Eliud.

15. और इलीहूद से इलियाजार उत्पन्न हुआ; और इलियाजर से मत्तान उत्पन्न हुआ; और मत्तान से याकूब उत्पन्न हुआ।

15. Eliud was the father of Eleazar. Eleazar was the father of Matthan. Matthan was the father of Jacob.

16. और याकूब से यूसुफ उत्पन्न हुआ; जो मरियम का पति था जिस से यीशु जो मसीह कहलाता है उत्पन्न हुआ।।

16. Jacob was the father of Joseph. Joseph was the husband of Mary. And Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called Christ.

17. इब्राहीम से दाऊद तक सब चौदह पीढ़ी हुई और दाऊद से बाबुल को बन्दी होकर पहुंचाए जाने तक चौदह पीढ़ी और बन्दी होकर बाबुल को पहुंचाए जाने के समय से लेकर मसीह तक चौदह पीढ़ी हुई।।

17. So there were 14 generations from Abraham to David. There were 14 from David until the Jewish people were forced to go away to Babylon. And there were 14 from that time to the Christ.

18. अब यीशु मसीह का जन्म इस प्रकार से हुआ, कि जब उस की माता मरियम की मंगनी यूसुफ के साथ हो गई, तो उन के इकट्ठे होने के पहिले से वह पवित्रा आत्मा की ओर से गर्भवती पाई गई।

18. This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. His mother Mary and Joseph had promised to get married. But before they started to live together, it became clear that she was going to have a baby. She became pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit.

19. सो उसके पति यूसुफ ने जो धर्मी था और उसे बदनाम करना नहीं चाहता था, उसे चुपके से त्याग देने की मनसा की।

19. Her husband Joseph was a godly man. He did not want to put her to shame in public. So he planned to divorce her quietly.

20. जब वह इन बातों के सोच ही में था तो प्रभु का स्वर्गदूत उसे स्वप्न में दिखाई देकर कहने लगा; हे यूसुफ दाऊद की सन्तान, तू अपनी पत्नी मरियम को अपने यहां ले आने से मत डर; क्योंकि जो उसके गर्भ में है, वह पवित्रा आत्मा की ओर से है।

20. But as Joseph was thinking about this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. The angel said, 'Joseph, son of David, don't be afraid to take Mary home as your wife. The baby inside her is from the Holy Spirit.

21. वह पुत्रा जनेगी और तू उसका नाम यीशु रखना; क्योंकि वह अपने लोगों का उन के पापों से उद्वार करेगा।

21. She is going to have a son. You must give him the name Jesus. That is because he will save his people from their sins.'

22. यह सब कुछ इसलिये हुआ कि जो वचन प्रभु ने भविष्यद्वक्ता के द्वारा कहा था; वह पूरा हो।

22. All of this took place to bring about what the Lord had said would happen. He had said through the prophet,

23. कि, देखो एक कुंवारी गर्भवती होगी और एक पुत्रा जनेगी और उसका नाम इम्मानुएल रखा जाएगा जिस का अर्थ यह है 'परमेश्वर हमारे साथ'।

23. 'The virgin is going to have a baby. She will give birth to a son. And he will be called Immanuel.'--(Isaiah 7:14) The name Immanuel means 'God with us.'

24. सो यूसुफ नींद से जागकर प्रभु के दूत की आज्ञा अनुसार अपनी पत्नी को अपने यहां ले आया।

24. Joseph woke up. He did what the angel of the Lord commanded him to do. He took Mary home as his wife.

25. और जब तक वह पुत्रा न जनी तब तक वह उसके पास न गया: और उस ने उसका नाम यीशु रखा।।

25. But he did not make love to her until after she gave birth to a son. And Joseph gave him the name Jesus.
