1. फिर यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,

1. GOD spoke to Moses:

2. मिद्यानियों से इस्त्राएलियों का पलटा ले; बाद को तू अपने लोगों में जा मिलेगा।

2. 'Avenge the People of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you will go to be with your dead ancestors.'

3. तब मूसा ने लोगों से कहा, अपने में से पुरूषों को युद्ध के लिये हथियार बन्धाओ, कि वे मिद्यानियों पर चढ़के उन से यहोवा का पलटा ले।

3. Moses addressed the people: 'Recruit men for a campaign against Midian, to exact GOD's vengeance on Midian,

4. इस्त्राएल के सब गोत्रों में से प्रत्येक गोत्रा के एक एक हजार पुरूषों को युद्ध करने के लिये भेजो।

4. a thousand from each tribe of Israel to go to war.'

5. तब इस्त्राएल के सब गोत्रों में से प्रत्येक गोत्रा के एक एक हजार पुरूष चुने गये, अर्थात् युद्ध के लिये हथियार- बन्द बारह हजार पुरूष।

5. A fighting force of a thousand from each tribe of Israel--twelve thousand in all--was recruited.

6. प्रत्येक गोत्रा में से उन हजार हजार पुरूषों को, और एलीआजर याजक के पुत्रा पीनहास को, मूसा ने युद्ध करने के लिये भेजा, और उसके हाथ में पवित्रास्थान के पात्रा और वे तुरहियां थीं जो सांस बान्ध बान्ध कर फूंकी जाती थीं।

6. Moses sent them off to war, a thousand from each tribe, and also Phinehas son of Eleazar, who went as priest to the army, in charge of holy vessels and the signaling bugles.

7. और जो आज्ञा यहोवा ने मूसा को दी थी, उसके अनुसार उन्हों ने मिद्यानियों से युद्ध करके सब पुरूषों को घात किया।

7. They attacked Midian, just as GOD had commanded Moses, and killed every last man.

8. और दूसरे जूझे हुओं को छोड़ उन्हों ने एवी, रेकेम, सूर, हूर, और रेबा नाम मिद्यान के पांचों राजाओं को घात किया; और बोर के पुत्रा बिलाम को भी उन्हों ने तलवार से घात किया।

8. Among the fallen were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba--the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.

9. और इस्त्राएलियों ने मिद्यानी स्त्रियों को बालबच्चों समेत बन्धुआई में कर लिया; और उनके गाय- बैल, भेड़- बकरी, और उनकी सारी सम्पत्ति को लूट लिया।

9. The People of Israel took the Midianite women and children captive and took all their animals and herds and goods as plunder.

10. और उनके निवास के सब नगरों, और सब छावनियों को फूंक दिया;

10. They burned to the ground all the towns in which Midianites lived and also their tent camps.

11. तब वे, क्या मनुष्य क्या पशु, सब बन्धुओं और सारी लूट- पाट को लेकर

11. They looted and plundered everything and everyone--stuff and people and animals.

12. यरीहो के पास की यरदन नदी के तीर पर, मोआब के अराबा में, छावनी के निकट, मूसा और एलीआजर याजक और इस्त्राएलियों की मण्डली के पास आए।।

12. They took it all--captives and booty and plunder--back to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the company of Israel where they were camped on the Plains of Moab, at Jordan-Jericho.

13. तब मूसा और एलीआजर याजक और मण्डली के सब प्रधान छावनी के बाहर उनका स्वागत करने को निकले।

13. Moses, Eleazar, and all the leaders of the congregation went to meet the returning army outside the camp.

14. और मूसा सहस्त्रापति- शतपति आदि, सेनापतियों से, जो युद्ध करके लौटे आते थे क्रोधित होकर कहने लगा,

14. Moses was furious with the army officers--the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds--as they came back from the battlefield:

15. क्या तुम ने सब स्त्रियों को जीवित छोड़ दिया?

15. 'What's this! You've let these women live!

16. देखे, बिलाम की सम्मति से, पोर के विषय में इस्त्राएलियों से यहोवा का विश्वासघात इन्हीं ने कराया, और यहोवा की मण्डली में मरी फैली।

16. They're the ones who, under Balaam's direction, seduced the People of Israel away from GOD in that mess at Peor, causing the plague that hit GOD's people.

17. सो अब बालबच्चों में से हर एक लड़के को, और जितनी स्त्रियों ने पुरूष का मुंह देखा हो उन सभों को घात करो।

17. Finish your job: kill all the boys. Kill every woman who has slept with a man.

18. परन्तु जितनी लड़कियों ने पुरूष का मुंह न देखा हो उन सभों को तुम अपने लिये जीवित रखो।

18. The younger women who are virgins you can keep alive for yourselves.

19. और तुम लोग सात दिन तक छावनी के बाहर रहो, और तुम में से जितनों ने किसी प्राणी को घात किया, और जितनों ने किसी मरे हुए को छूआ हो, वे सब अपने अपने बन्धुओं समेत तीसरे और सातवें दिनों में अपने अपने को पाप छुड़ाकर पावन करें।

19. 'Now here's what you are to do: Pitch tents outside the camp. All who have killed anyone or touched a corpse must stay outside the camp for seven days. Purify yourselves and your captives on the third and seventh days.

20. और सब वस्त्रों, और चमड़े की बनी हुई सब वस्तुओं, और बकरी के बालों की और लकड़ी की बनी हुई सब वस्तुओं को पावन कर लो।

20. Purify every piece of clothing and every utensil--everything made of leather, goat hair, or wood.'

21. तब एलीआजर याजक ने सेना के उन पुरूषों से जो युद्ध करने गए थे कहा, व्यवस्था की जिस विधि की आज्ञा यहोवा ने मूसा को दी है वह यह है,

21. Eleazar the priest then spoke to the soldiers who had fought in the battle: 'This is the ruling from the Revelation that GOD gave Moses:

22. कि सोना, चांदी, पीतल, लोहा, रांगा, और सीसा,

22. Gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, and lead--

23. जो कुछ आग में ठहर सके उसको आग में डालो, तब वह शुद्ध ठहरेगा; तौभी वह अशुद्धता छुड़ानेवाले जल के द्वारा पावन किया जाए; परन्तु जो कुछ आग में न ठहर सके उसे जल में डुबाओ।

23. and anything else that can survive fire--must be passed through the fire; then it will be ritually purified. It must also be ritually washed in the Water-of-Cleansing. Further, whatever cannot survive fire must be put through that water.

24. और सातवें दिन अपने वस्त्रों को धोना, तब तुम शुद्ध ठहरोगे; और तब छावनी में आना।।

24. On the seventh day scrub your clothes; you will be ritually clean. Then you can return to camp.'

25. फिर यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,

25. GOD said to Moses,

26. एलीआजर याजक और मण्डली के पितरों के घरानों के मुख्य मुख्य पुरूषों को साथ लेकर तू लूट के मनुष्यों और पशुओं की गिनती कर;

26. 'I want you and Eleazar the priest and the family leaders in the community to count the captives, people and animals.

27. तब उनको आधा आधा करके एक भाग उन सिपाहियों को जो युद्ध करने को गए थे, और दूसरा भाग मण्डली को दे।

27. Split the plunder between the soldiers who fought the battle and the rest of the congregation.

28. फिर जो सिपाही युद्ध करने को गए थे, उनके आधे में से यहोवा के लिये, क्या मनुष्य, क्या गाय- बैल, क्या गदहे, क्या भेड़- बकरियां

28. 'Then tax the booty that goes to the soldiers at the rate of one life out of five hundred, whether humans, cattle, donkeys, or sheep.

29. पांच सौ के पीछे एक को मानकर ले ले; और यहोवा की भेंट करके एलीआजर याजक को दे दे।

29. It's a GOD-tax taken from their half-share to be turned over to Eleazar the priest on behalf of GOD.

30. फिर इस्त्राएलियों के आधे में से, क्या मनुष्य, क्या गाय- बैल, क्या गदहे, क्या भेड़- बकरियां, क्या किसी प्रकार का पशु हो, पचास के पीछे एक लेकर यहोवा के निवास की रखवाली करनेवाले लेवियों को दे।

30. Tax the congregation's half-share at the rate of one life out of fifty, whether persons, cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, or other animals. Give this to the Levites who are in charge of the care of GOD's Dwelling.'

31. यहोवा की इस आज्ञा के अनुसार जो उस ने मूसा को दी मूसा और एलीआजर याजक ने किया।

31. Moses and Eleazar followed through with what GOD had commanded Moses.

32. और जो वस्तुएं सेना के पुरूषों ने अपने अपने लिये लूट ली थीं उन से अधिक की लूट यह थी; अर्थात् छ: लाख पचहत्तर हजार भेड़- बकरियां,

32. The rest of the plunder taken by the army: 675,000 sheep

33. बहत्तर हजार गाय बैल,

33. 72,000 cattle

34. इकसठ हजार गदहे,

34. 61,000 donkeys

35. और मनुष्यों में से जिन स्त्रियों ने पुरूष का मुंह नहीं देखा था वह सब बत्तीस हजार थीं।

35. 32,000 women who were virgins

36. और इसका आधा, अर्थात् उनका भाग जो युद्ध करने को गए थे, उस में भेड़बकरियां तीन लाख साढ़े सैंतीस हजार,

36. The half-share for those who had fought in the war: 337,500 sheep,

37. जिस में से पौने सात सौ भेड़- बकरियां यहोवा का कर ठहरीं।

37. with a tax of 675 for GOD

38. और गाय- बैल छत्तीस हजार, जिन में से बहत्तर यहोवा का कर ठहरे।

38. 36,000 cattle, with a tax of 72 for GOD

39. और गदहे साढ़े तीस हजार, जिन में से इकसठ यहोवा का कर ठहरे।

39. 30,500 donkeys, with a tax of 61 for GOD

40. और मनुष्य सोलह हजार जिन में से बत्तीस प्राणी यहोवा का कर ठहरे।

40. 16,000 people, with a tax of 32 for GOD

41. इस कर को जो यहोवा की भेंट थी मूसा ने यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार एलीआजर याजक को दिया।

41. Moses turned the tax over to Eleazar the priest as GOD's part, following GOD's instructions to Moses.

42. और इस्त्राएलियों की मण्डली का आधा

42. The other half-share for the Israelite community that Moses set apart from what was given to the men who fought the war was:

43. तीन लाख साढ़े सैंतिस हजार भेड़- बकरियां

43. 337,500 sheep

44. छत्तीस हजार गाय- बैल,

44. 36,000 cattle

45. साढ़े तीस हजार गदहे,

45. 30,500 donkeys

46. और सोलह हजार मनुष्य हुए।

46. 16,000 people

47. इस आधे में से, जिसे मूसा ने युद्ध करनेवाले पुरूषों के पास से अलग किया था, यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार मूसा ने, क्या मनुष्य क्या पशु, पचास पीछे एक लेकर यहोवा के निवास की रखवाली करनेवाले लेवियों को दिया।

47. From the half-share going to the People of Israel, Moses, just as GOD had instructed him, picked one out of every fifty persons and animals and gave them to the Levites, who were in charge of maintaining GOD's Dwelling.

48. तब सहस्त्रापति- शतपति आदि, जो सरदार सेना के हजारों के ऊपर नियुक्त थे, वे मूसा के पास आकर कहने लगे,

48. The military officers--commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds--came to Moses

49. जो सिपाही हमारे अधीन थे उनकी तेरे दासों ने गिनती ली, और उन में से एक भी नहीं घटा।

49. and said, 'We have counted the soldiers under our command and not a man is missing.

50. इसलिये पायजेब, कड़े, मुंदरियां, बालियां, बाजूबन्द, सोने के जो गहने, जिस ने पाया है, उनको हम यहोवा के साम्हने अपने प्राणों के निमित्त प्रायश्चित्त करने को यहोवा की भेंट करके ले आए हैं।

50. We've brought offerings to GOD from the gold jewelry we got--armlets, bracelets, rings, earrings, ornaments--to make atonement for our lives before GOD.'

51. तब मूसा और एलीआजर याजक ने उन से वे सब सोने के नक्काशीदार गहने ले लिए।

51. Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from them, all that fine-crafted jewelry.

52. और सहस्त्रापतियों और शतपतियों ने जो भेंट का सोना यहोवा की भेंट करके दिया वह सब का सब सोलह हजार साढ़े सात सौ शेकेल का था।

52. In total, the gold from the commanders of thousands and hundreds that Moses and Eleazar offered as a gift to GOD weighed about six hundred pounds,

53. ( योद्धाओं ने तो अपने अपने लिये लूट ले ली थी। )

53. all donated by the soldiers who had taken the booty.

54. यह सोना मूसा और एलीआजर याजक ने सहस्त्रापतियों और शतपतियों से लेकर मिलापवाले तम्बू में पहुंचा दिया, कि इस्त्राएलियों के लिये यहोवा के साम्हने स्म्रण दिलानेवाली वस्तु ठहरे।।

54. Moses and Eleazar took the gold from the commanders of thousands and hundreds and brought it to the Tent of Meeting, to serve as a reminder for the People of Israel before GOD.
