1. यहोवा का वचन जो यिर्मयाह के पास सूखे वर्ष के विषय में पहुंचो

2. यहूदा विलाप करता और फाटकों में लोग शोक का पहिरावा पहिने हुए भूमि पर उदास बैठे हैं; और यरूशलेम की चिल्लाहट आकाश तक पहुंच गई है।

2. Jude weilide, and the yatis therof fellen doun, and ben maad derk in erthe, and the cry of Jerusalem stiede.

3. और उनके बड़े लोग उनके छोटे लोगों को पानी के लिये भेजते हैं; वे गड़हों पर आकर पानी नहीं पाते इसलिये छूछे बर्तन लिए हुए घर लौट जाते हैं; वे लज्जित और निराश होकर सिर ढांप लेते हैं।

3. Grettere men senten her lesse men to water; thei camen to drawe watir, and thei foundun no water, thei brouyten ayen her vessels voide; thei weren schent and turmentid,

4. देश में पानी न बरसने से भूमि में दरार पड़ गए हैं, इस कारण किसान लोग निराश होकर सिर ढांप लेते हैं।

4. and thei hiliden her heedis for distriyng of the lond, for reyn cam not in the lond. Erthe tilieris weren schent, thei hiliden her heedis.

5. हरिणी भी मैदान में बच्चा जनकर छोड़ जाती है क्योंकि हरी घास नहीं मिलती।

5. For whi and an hynde caluyde in the feeld, and lefte her calues, for noon eerbe was;

6. जंगली गदहे भी मुंडे टीलों पर खड़े हुए गीदड़ों की नाई हांफते हैं; उनकी आंखें धुंधला जाती हैं क्योंकि हरियाली कुछ भी नहीं है।

7. हे यहोवा, हमारे अधर्म के काम हमारे विरूद्ध साक्षी दे रहे हैं, हम तेरा संग छोड़कर बहुत दूर भटक गए हैं, और हम ने तेरे विरूद्ध पाप किया है; तौभी, तू अपने नाम के निमित्त कुछ कर।

7. If oure wickidnessis answeren to vs, Lord, do thou for thi name, for oure turnyngis awei ben manye; we han synned ayens thee.

8. हे इस्राएल के आधार, संकट के समय उसका बचानेवाला तू ही है, तू क्यों इस देश में परदेशी की नाई है? तू क्यों उस बटोही के समान है जो रात भर रहने के लिये कहीं टिकता हो?

8. Thou abidyng of Israel, the sauyour therof in the tyme of tribulacioun,

9. तू क्यों एक विस्मित पुरूष या ऐसे वीर के समान है जो बचा न सके? तौभी हे यहोवा तू हमारे बीच में है, और हम तेरे कहलाते हैं; इसलिये हमको न तज।

9. whi schalt thou be as a comelyng in the lond, and as a weigoere bowynge to dwelle? whi schalt thou be as a man of vnstable dwellyng, as a strong man that mai not saue? Forsothe, Lord, thou art in vs, and thin hooli name is clepid to help on vs; forsake thou not vs.

10. यहोवा ने इन लोगों के विषय यों कहा : इनको ऐसा भटकना अच्छा लगता है; ये कुकर्म में चलने से नहीं रूके; इसलिये यहोवा इन से प्रसन्न नहीं है, वह इनका अधर्म स्मरण करेगा और उनके पाप का दण्ड देगा।

10. The Lord seith these thingis to this puple, that louede to stire hise feet, and restide not, and pleside not the Lord; now he schal haue mynde on the wickidnesses of hem, and he schal visite the synnes of hem.

11. फिर यहोवा ने मुझ से कहा, इस प्रजा की भलाई के लिये प्रार्थना मत कर।

11. And the Lord seide to me, Nyle thou preie for this puple in to good.

12. चाहे वे उपवास भी करें, तौभी मैं इनकी दुहाई न सुनूंगा, और चाहे वे होमबलि और अन्नबलि चढ़ाएं, तौभी मैं उन से प्रसन्न न होऊंगा; मैं तलवार, महंगी और मरी के द्वारा इनका अन्त कर डालूंगा।

12. Whanne thei schulen faste, Y schal not here the preieris of hem; and if thei offren brent sacrifices and slayn sacrifices, Y schal not resseyue tho, for Y schal waste hem bi swerd and hungur and pestilence.

13. तब मैं ने कहा, हाय, प्रभु यहोवा, देख, भविष्यद्वक्ता इन से कहते हैं कि न तो तुम पर तलवार चलेगी और न महंगी होगी, यहोवा तुम को इस स्थान में सदा की शान्ति देगा।

13. And Y seide, A! A! A! Lord God, profetis seien to hem, Ye schulen not se swerd, and hungur schal not be in you, but he schal yyue to you veri pees in this place.

14. और यहोवा ने मुझ से कहा, ये भविष्यद्वक्ता मेरा नाम लेकर झूठी भविष्यद्वाणी करते हैं, मैं ने उनको न तो भेजा और न कुछ आज्ञा दी और न उन से कोई भी बात कही। वे तुम लोगों से दर्शन का झूठा दावा करके अपने ही मन से व्यर्थ और धोखे की भविष्यद्वाणी करते हैं।

14. And the Lord seide to me, The profetis profesien falsli in my name; Y sente not hem, and Y comaundide not to hem, nether Y spak to hem; thei profesien to you a fals reuelacioun, and a gileful dyuynyng, and the disseyuyng of her herte.

15. इस कारण जो भविष्यद्वक्ता मेरे बिना भेजे मेरा नाम लेकर भविष्यद्वाणी करते हैं कि उस देश में न तो तलवार चलेगी और न महंगी होगी, उनके विषय यहोवा यों कहता है, कि, वे भविष्यद्वक्ता आप तलवार और महंगी के द्वारा नाश किए जाएंगे।

15. Therfor the Lord seith these thingis of the profetis that profesien in my name, whiche Y sente not, and seien, Swerd and hungur schal not be in this lond; Tho profetis schulen be wastid bi swerd and hungur.

16. और जिन लोगों से वे भविष्यद्वाणी कहते हैं, वे महंगी और तलवार के द्वारा मर जाने पर इस प्रकार यरूशलेम की सड़कों में फेंक दिए जाएंगे, कि न तो उनका, न उनकी स्त्रियों का और न उनके बेटे- बेटियों का कोई मिट्टी देनेवाला रहेगा। क्योंकि मैं उनकी बुराई उन्हीं के ऊपर उण्डेलूंगा।

16. And the puplis, to whiche thei profesieden, schulen be cast forth in the weies of Jerusalem, for hungur and swerd, and noon schal be, that schal birie hem; they and the wyues of hem, the sones and the douytris of hem `schulen be cast forth; and Y schal schede out on hem her yuel.

17. तू उन से यह बात कह, मेरी ओखों से दिन रात आंसू लगातार बहते रहें, वे न रूकें क्योंकि मेरे लोगों की कुंवारी बेटी बहुत ही कुचली गई और घायल हुई है।

17. And thou schalt seie to hem this word, Myn iyen lede doun a teer bi niyt and dai, and be not stille, for the virgyn, the douyter of my puple, is defoulid bi greet defoulying, with the worste wounde greetli.

18. यदि मैं मैदान में जाऊं, तो देखो, तलवार के मारे हुए पड़े हैं ! और यदि मैं नगर के भीतर आऊं, तो देखो, भूख से अध्मूए पड़े हैं ! क्योंकि भविष्यद्वक्ता और याजक देश में कमाई करते फिरते और समझ नहीं रखते हैं।

18. If Y go out to feeldis, lo! men ben slayn bi swerd; and if Y entre in to the citee, lo! men ben maad leene for hungur; also a profete and a prest yeden in to the lond which thei knewen not.

19. क्या तू ने यहूदा से बिलकुल हाथ उठा लिया? क्या तू सिरयोन से घिन करता है? नहीं, तू ने क्यों हम को ऐसा मारा है कि हम चंगे हो ही नहीं सकते? हम शान्ति की बाट जोहते रहे, तौभी कुछ कल्याण नहीं हुआ; और यद्यपि हम अच्छे हो जाने की आशा करते रहे, तौभी घबराना ही पड़ा है।

19. Whether thou castynge awei hast cast awei Juda, ether thi soule hath wlatid Sion? whi therfor hast thou smyte vs, so that noon heelthe is? We abididen pees, and no good is; and we abididen time of heeling, and lo! disturbling is.

20. हे यहोवा, हम अपनी दुष्टता और अपने पुरख़ाओं के अधर्म को भी मान लेते हैं, क्योंकि हम ने तेरे विरूद्ध पाप किया है।

20. Lord, we han know oure vnfeithfulnessis, and the wickidnessis of oure fadris, for we han synned to thee.

21. अपने नाम के निमित्त हमें न ठुकरा; अपने तेजोमय सिंहासन का अपमान न कर; जो वाचा तू ने हमारे साथ बान्धी, उसे स्मरण कर और उसे न तोड़।

21. Yyue thou not vs in to schenschip, for thi name, nether do thou dispite to vs; haue thou mynde on the seete of thi glorie, make thou not voide thi boond of pees with vs.

22. क्या अन्यजातियों की मूरतों में से कोई वर्षा कर सकता है? क्या आकाश झड़ियां लगा सकता है? हे हमारे परमेश्वर यहोवा, क्या तू ही इन सब बातों का करनेवाला नहीं है? हम तेरा ही आसरा देखते रहेंगे, क्योंकि इन सारी वस्तुओं का सृजनहार तू ही है।

22. Whether in grauun ymagis of hethene men ben thei that reynen, ethir heuenes moun yyue reynes? whether thou art not oure Lord God, whom we abididen? For thou madist alle these thingis.
