1. लेवी के घराने के एक पुरूष ने एक लेवी वंश की स्त्री को ब्याह लिया।

1. And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took a laughter of Levi.

2. और वह स्त्री गर्भवती हुई और उसके एक पुत्रा उत्पन्न हुआ; और यह देखकर कि यह बालक सुन्दर है, उसे तीन महीने तक छिपा रखा।

2. And the woman conceived and bare a son, and she saw him, that he was a goodly child, so she hid him three months.

3. और जब वह उसे और छिपा न सकी तब उसके लिये सरकंड़ों की एक टोकरी लेकर, उस में बालक को रखकर नील नदी के तीर पर कांसों के बीच छोड़ आई।

3. And when she could no longer hide him, she took for him an ark of paper-reed, and covered it over with bitumen, and with pitch, and put therein the child, and laid it among the rushes upon the bank of the river.

4. उस बालक कि बहिन दूर खड़ी रही, कि देखे इसका क्या हाल होगा।

4. Then did his sister station herself at a distance, to see what would be done to him.

5. तब फिरौन की बेटी नहाने के लिये नदी के तीर आई; उसकी सखियां नदी के तीर तीर टहलने लगीं; तब उस ने कांसों के बीच टोकरी को देखकर अपनी दासी को उसे ले आने के लिये भेजा।

5. So then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe by the river, and her, maidens, were walking by the side of the river, when she saw the ark in the midst of the rushes, and sent her handmaid, and fetched it.

6. तब उस ने उसे खोलकर देखा, कि एक रोता हुआ बालक है; तब उसे तरस आया और उस ने कहा, यह तो किसी इब्री का बालक होगा।

6. And she opened and beheld it even the child, and lo! a boy weeping, so she took pity on him, and said, Of the children of the Hebrews, is this.

7. तब बालक की बहिन ने फिरौन की बेटी से कहा, क्या मैं जाकर इब्री स्त्रियों में से किसी धाई को तेरे पास बुला ले आऊं जो तेरे लिये बालक को दूध पिलाया करे?

7. Then said his sister unto Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call thee a nurse, of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse for thee the child?

8. फिरौन की बेटी ने कहा, जा। तब लड़की जाकर बालक की माता को बुला ले आई।

8. And Pharaoh's daughter said to her Go. So the maid went, and called the mother of the child.

9. फिरौन की बेटी ने उस से कहा, तू इस बालक को ले जाकर मेरे लिये दूध पिलाया कर, और मैं तुझे मजदूरी दूंगी। तब वह स्त्री बालक को ले जाकर दूध पिलाने लगी।

9. And Pharaoh's daughter said to her Take this child, and nurse it for me, and, I, will give thee thy wages. So the woman took the child, and nursed it.

10. जब बालक कुछ बड़ा हुआ तब वह उसे फिरौन की बेटी के पास ले गई, और वह उसका बेटा ठहरा; और उस ने यह कहकर उसका नाम मूसा रखा, कि मैं ने इसको जल से निकाल लिया।।

10. And the child grew, and she brought him in to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses, and said For out of the water, I drew him.

11. उन दिनों में ऐसा हुआ कि जब मूसा जवान हुआ, और बाहर अपने भाई बन्धुओं के पास जाकर उनके दु:खों पर दृष्टि करने लगा; तब उस ने देखा, कि कोई मिद्दी जन मेरे एक इब्री भाई को मार रहा है।

11. And it came to pass in those days when Moses grew up, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens, and saw, an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew of his brethren,

12. जब उस ने इधर उधर देखा कि कोई नहीं है, तब उस मिद्दी को मार डाला और बालू में छिपा दिया।।

12. So he turned this way and that, and when he saw that there was no man, he smote the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

13. फिर दूसरे दिन बाहर जाकर उस ने देखा कि दो इब्री पुरूष आपस में मारपीट कर रहे हैं; उस ने अपराधी से कहा, तू अपने भाई को क्यों मारता है ?

13. And he went out on the second day, and lo! two Hebrews, striving together, so he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore shouldest thou smite thy fellow?

14. उस ने कहा, किस ने तुझे हम लोगों पर हाकिम और न्यायी ठहराया ? जिस भांति तू ने मिद्दी को घात किया क्या उसी भांति तू मुझे भी घात करना चाहता है ? तब मूसा यह सोचकर डर गया, कि निश्चय वह बात खुल गई है।

14. And he said Who hath set thee for a chief and a judge over us? To slay me, art thou thinking, as thou didst slay the Egyptian? Then was Moses afraid, and said Surely the thing is, known!

15. जब फिरौन ने यह बात सुनी तब मूसा को घात करने की युक्ति की। तब मूसा फिरौन के साम्हने से भागा, और मिद्यान देश में जाकर रहने लगा; और वह वहां एक कुएं के पास बैठ गया।

15. So Pharaoh heard this thing, and sought to slay Moses, and Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian and sat down by the well.

16. मिद्यान के याजक की सात बेटियां थी; और वे वहां आकर जल भरने लगीं, कि कठौतों में भरके अपने पिता की भेड़बकरियों को पिलाएं।

16. Now, the priest of Midian, had seven daughters, and they came and drew and filled the troughs, to water their fathers flock.

17. तब चरवाहे आकर उनको हटाने लगे; इस पर मूसा ने खड़ा होकर उनकी सहायता की, और भेड़- बकरियों को पानी पिलाया।

17. Then came the shepherds, and drave them away, so Moses rose up, and succoured them, and watered their flock,

18. जब वे अपने पिता रूएल के पास फिर आई, तब उस ने उन से पूछा, क्या कारण है कि आज तुम ऐसी फुर्ती से आई हो ?

18. Then came they in unto Reuel their father, and he said, Wherefore have ye so early come in to-day?

19. उन्हों ने कहा, एक मिद्दी पुरूष ने हम को चरवाहों के हाथ से छुड़ाया, और हमारे लिये बहुत जल भरके भेड़- बकरियों को पिलाया।

19. And they said, An Egyptian, delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, Moreover also he drew, for us, and watered the flock.

20. तब उस ने अपनी बेटियों से कहा, वह पुरूष कहां है ? तुम उसको क्यों छोड़ आई हो ? उसको बुला ले आओ कि वह भोजन करे।

20. And he said unto his daughters And where is he? wherefore is it that ye left the man? Call him that he may eat bread.

21. और मूसा उस पुरूष के साथ रहने को प्रसन्न हुआ; उस ने उसे अपनी बेटी सिप्पोरा को ब्याह दिया।

21. And Moses was well-pleased to dwell with the man, and he gave Zipporah his daughter to Moses.

22. और उसके एक पुत्रा उत्पन्न हुआ, तब मूसा ने यह कहकर, कि मैं अन्य देश में परदेशी हूं, उसका नाम गेर्शोम रखा।।

22. And she bare a son, and he called his name Gershom, for he said, A, sojourner, I am, in a strange land.

23. बहुत दिनों के बीतने पर मि का राजा मर गया। और इस्राएली कठिन सेवा के कारण लम्बी लम्बी सांस लेकर आहें भरने लगे, और पुकार उठे, और उनकी दोहाई जो कठिन सेवा के कारण हुई वह परमेश्वर तक पहुंची।

23. And it came to pass, during those many days, that the king of Egypt died, and the sons of Israel sighed by reason of the servitude and lamented, and their cry for help went up to God, by reason of the servitude.

24. और परमेश्वर ने उनका कराहना सुनकर अपनी वाचा को, जो उस ने इब्राहीम, और इसहाक, और याकूब के साथ बान्धी थी, स्मरण किया।

24. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant, with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob;

25. और परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों पर दृष्टि करके उन पर चित्त लगाया।।

25. so then, God looked upon the sons of Israel, and God regarded.
