1. मेरा प्राण नाश हुआ चाहता है, मेरे दिन पूरे हो चुके हैं; मेरे लिये कब्र तैयार है।

1. My spirit hath been destroyed, My days extinguished -- graves [are] for me.

2. निश्चय जो मेरे संग हैं वह ठट्ठा करनेवाले हैं, और उनका झगड़ा रगड़ा मुझे लगातार दिखाई देता है।

2. If not -- mockeries [are] with me. And in their provocations mine eye lodgeth.

3. जमानत दे अपने और मेरे बीच में तू ही जामिन हो; कौन है जो मेरे हाथ पर हाथ मारे?

3. Place, I pray Thee, my pledge with Thee; Who is he that striketh hand with me?

4. तू ने इनका मन समझने से रोका है, इस कारण तू इनको प्रबल न करेगा।

4. For their heart Thou hast hidden From understanding, Therefore Thou dost not exalt them.

5. जो अपने मित्रों को चुगली खाकर लूटा देता, उसके लड़कों की आंखें रह जाएंगी।

5. For a portion he sheweth friendship, And the eyes of his sons are consumed.

6. उस ने ऐसा किया कि सब लोग मेरी उपमा देते हैं; और लोग मेरे मुंह पर थूकते हैं।

6. And he set me up for a proverb of the peoples, And a wonder before them I am.

7. खेद के मारे मेरी आंखों में घुंघलापन छा गया है, और मेरे सब अंग छाया की नाई हो गए हैं।

7. And dim from sorrow is mine eye, And my members as a shadow all of them.

8. इसे देखकर सीधे लोग चकित होते हैं, और जो निदष हैं, वह भक्तिहीन के विरूद्ध उभरते हैं।

8. Astonished are the upright at this, And the innocent against the profane Stirreth himself up.

9. तौभी धम लोग अपना मार्ग पकड़े रहेंगे, और शुठ्ठ काम करनेवाले सामर्थ्य पर सामर्थ्य पाते जाएंगे।

9. And the righteous layeth hold [on] his way, And the clean of hands addeth strength, And -- dumb are they all.

10. तुम सब के सब मेरे पास आओ तो आओ, परन्तु मुझे तुम लोगों में एक भी बुध्दिमान न मिलेगा।

10. Return, and come in, I pray you, And I find not among you a wise man.

11. मेरे दिन तो बीत चुके, और मेरी मनसाएं मिट गई, और जो मेरे मन में था, वह नाश हुआ है।

11. My days have passed by, My devices have been broken off, The possessions of my heart!

12. वे रात को दिन ठहराते; वे कहते हैं, अन्धियारे के निकट उजियाला है।

12. Night for day they appoint, Light [is] near because of darkness.

13. यदि मेरी आश यह हो कि अधोलोक मेरा धाम होगा, यदि मैं ने अन्धियारे में अपना बिछौना बिछा लिया है,

13. If I wait -- Sheol [is] my house, In darkness I have spread out my couch.

14. यदि मैं ने सड़ाहट से कहा कि तू मेरा पिता है, और कीड़े से, कि तू मेरी मां, और मेरी बहिन है,

14. To corruption I have called: -- 'Thou [art] my father.' 'My mother' and 'my sister' -- to the worm.

15. तो मेरी आशा कहां रही? और मेरी आशा किस के देखने में आएगी?

15. And where [is] now my hope? Yea, my hope, who doth behold it?

16. वह तो अधोलोक में उतर जाएगी, और उस समेत मुझे भी मिट्टी में विश्राम मिलेगा।

16. [To] the parts of Sheol ye go down, If together on the dust we may rest.
