1. फिर दाऊद और सेनापतियों ने आसाप, हेमान और यदूतून के कितने पुत्रों को सेवकाई के लिये अलग किया कि वे वीणा, सारंगी और झांझ बजा बजाकर नबूवत करें। और इस सेवकाई के काम करनेवाले मनुष्यों की गिनती यह थी :

2. अर्थात् आसाप के पुत्रों में से तो जक्कूर, योसेप, नतन्याह और अशरेला, आसाप के ये पुत्रा आसाप ही की आज्ञा में थे, जो राजा की आज्ञा के अनुसार नबूवत करता था।

2. From the family of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah; they were supervised by Asaph, who spoke for GOD backed up by the king's authority.

3. फिर यदूतून के पुत्रों में से गदल्याह, सरीयशायाह, हसब्याह, मत्तित्याह, ये ही छे अपने पिता यदूतून की आज्ञा में होकर जो यहोवा का धन्यवाद और स्तुति कर करके नबूवत करता था, वीणा बजाते थे।

3. From the family of Jeduthun there were six sons: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah; they were supervised by their father Jeduthun, who preached and accompanied himself with the zither--he was responsible for leading the thanks and praise to GOD.

4. और हेमान के पुत्रों में से, मुक्किरयाह, मत्तन्याह, लज्जीएल, शबूएल, यरीमोत, हनन्याह, हनानी, एलीआता, गि लती, रोममतीएजेर, योशबकाशा, मल्लोती, होतीर और महजीओत।

4. From the family of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

5. परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञानुकूल जो उसका नाम बढ़ाने की थी, ये सब हेमान के पुत्रा थे जो राजा का दश था; क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने हेमान को चौदह बेटे और तीन बेटियां दीं थीं।

5. These were the sons of Heman the king's seer; they supported and assisted him in his divinely appointed work. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6. ये सब यहोवा के भवन में गाने के लिये अपने अपने पिता के अधीन रहकर, परमेश्वर के भवन, की सेवकाई में झांझ, सारंगी और वीणा बजाते थे। और आसाप, यदूतून और हेमान राजा के अधीन रहते थे।

6. Under their father's supervision they were in charge of leading the singing and providing musical accompaniment in the work of worship in the sanctuary of God (Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman took their orders directly from the king).

7. इन सभों की गिनती भाइयों समेत जो यहोवा के गीत सीखे हुए और सब प्रकार से निपुण थे, दो सौ अठासी थी।

7. They were well-trained in the sacred music, all of them masters. There were 288 of them.

8. और उन्हों ने क्या बड़ा, क्या छोटा, क्या गुरू, क्या चेला, अपनी अपनी बारी के लिये चिट्ठी डाली।

8. They drew names at random to see who would do what. Nobody, whether young or old, teacher or student, was given preference or advantage over another.

9. और पहिली चिट्ठी आसाप के बेटों में से योसेप के नाम पर निकली, दूसरी गदल्याह के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

9. The first name from Asaph's family was Joseph and his twelve sons and brothers; second, Gedaliah and his twelve sons and brothers;

10. तीसरी जक्कूर के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

10. third, Zaccur and his twelve sons and brothers;

11. चौथी यिस्री के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

11. fourth, Izri and his twelve sons and brothers;

12. पांचवीं नतन्याह के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

12. fifth, Nethaniah and his twelve sons and brothers;

13. छठीं बुक्किरयाह के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

13. sixth, Bukkiah and his twelve sons and brothers;

14. सातवीं यसरेला के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

14. seventh, Jesarelah and his twelve sons and brothers;

15. आठवीं यशायाह के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

15. eighth, Jeshaiah and his twelve sons and brothers;

16. नौवीं मतन्याह के नाम पर निकली, जिसके पुत्रा और भाई समेत बारह थे।

16. ninth, Mattaniah and his twelve sons and brothers;

17. दसवीं शिमी के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

17. tenth, Shimei and his twelve sons and brothers;

18. ग्यारहवीं अजरेल के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

18. eleventh, Azarel and his twelve sons and brothers;

19. बारहवीं हशब्याह के नाम पर निकली, जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

29. twenty-second, Giddalti and his twelve sons and brothers;

30. बाईसवीं गि लती के नाम पर तिकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।

30. twenty-third, Mahazioth and his twelve sons and brothers;

31. तेईसवीं महजीओत के नाम पर निकली जिसके पुत्रा और भाई उस समेत बारह थे।
