1. अराम के राजा का नामान नाम सेनापति अपने स्वामी की दृष्टि में बड़ा और प्रतिष्ठित पुम्ष था, क्योंकि यहोवा ने उसके द्वारा अरामियों को विजयी किया था, और यह शूरवीर था, परन्तु कोढ़ी था।
लूका 4:27

1. Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a very important man in the eyes of his master. And he was highly respected. That's because the Lord had helped him win the battle over Aram's enemies. He was a brave soldier. But he had a skin disease.

2. अरामी लोेग दल बान्धकर इस्राएल के देश में जाकर वहां से एक छोटी लड़की बन्धुवाई में ले आए थे और वह नामान की पत्नी की सेवा करती थी।

2. Companies of soldiers from Aram had marched out. They had captured a young girl from Israel. She became a servant of Naaman's wife.

3. उस ने अपनी स्वामिन से कहा, जो मेरा स्वामी शोमरोन के भविष्यद्वक्ता के पास होता, तो क्या ही अच्छा होता ! क्योंकि वह उसको कोढ़ से चंगा कर देता।

3. She spoke to the woman she was serving. She said, 'I wish my master would go and see the prophet who is in Samaria. He would heal my master of his skin disease.'

4. तो किसी ने उसके प्रभु के पास जाकर कह दिया, कि इस्राएली लड़की इस प्रकार कहती है।

4. Naaman went to see his own master. He told him what the girl from Israel had said.

5. अराम के राजा ने कहा, तू जा, मैं इस्राएल के राजा के पास एक पत्रा भेजूंगा; तब वह दस किक्कार चान्दी और छेहजार टुकड़े सोना, और दस जोड़े कपड़े साथ लेकर रवाना हो गया।

5. 'I think you should go,' the king of Aram replied. 'I'll give you a letter to take to the king of Israel.' So Naaman left. He took 750 pounds of silver with him. He also took 150 pounds of gold. And he took ten sets of clothes.

6. और वह इस्राएल के राजा के पास वह पत्रा ले गया जिस में यह लिखा था, कि जब यह पत्रा तुझे मिले, तब जानना कि मैं ने नामान नाम अपने एक कर्मचारी को तेरे पास इसलिये भेजा है, कि तू उसका कोढ़ दूर कर दे।

6. He carried the letter to the king of Israel. It said, 'I'm sending my servant Naaman to you with this letter. I want you to heal him of his skin disease.'

7. इस पत्रा के पढ़ने पर इस्राएल का राजा अपने वस्त्रा फाड़कर बोला, क्या मैं मारनेवाला और जिलानेवाला परमेश्वर हूँ कि उस पुरूष ने मेरे पास किसी को इसलिये भेजा है कि मैं उसका कोढ दूर करूं? सोच विचार तो करो, वह मुझ से झगड़े का कारण ढूंढ़ता होगा।

7. The king of Israel read the letter. As soon as he did, he tore his royal robes. He said, 'Am I God? Can I kill people and bring them back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be healed of his skin disease? He must be trying to pick a fight with me!'

8. यह सुनकर कि इस्राएल के राजा ने अपने वस्त्रा फाड़े हैं, परमेश्वर के भक्त एलीशा ने राजा के पास कहला भेजा, तू ने क्यों अपने वस्त्रा फाड़ेे हैं? वह मेरे पास आए, तब जान लेगा, कि इस्राएल में भविष्यद्वक्ता तो है।

8. Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes. So he sent the king a message. It said, 'Why have you torn your robes? Tell the man to come to me. Then he will know there is a prophet in Israel.'

9. तब नामान धोड़ों और रथों समेत एलीशा के द्वार पर आकर खड़ा हुआ।

9. So Naaman went to see Elisha. He took his horses and chariots with him. He stopped at the door of Elisha's house.

10. तब एलीशा ने एक दूत से उसके पास यह कहला भेजा, कि तू जाकर यरदन में सात बार डुबकी मार, तब तेरा शरीर ज्यों का त्यों हो जाएगा, और तू शुठ्ठ होगा।

10. Elisha sent a messenger out to him. The messenger said, 'Go. Wash yourself in the Jordan River seven times. Then your skin will be healed. You will be pure and clean again.'

11. परन्तु नामान क्रोधित हो यह कहता हुआ चला गया, कि मैं ने तो सोचा था, कि अवश्य वह मेरे पास बाहर आएगा, और खड़ा होकर अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से प्रार्थना करके कोढ़ के स्थान पर अपना हाथ फेरकर कोढ़ को दूर करेगा !

11. But Naaman went away angry. He said, 'I was sure he would come out to me. I thought he would stand there and pray to the Lord his God. I thought he would wave his hand over my skin. Then I would be healed.

12. क्या दमिश्क की अबाना और पर्पर नदियां इस्राएल के सब जलाशयों से अत्तम नहीं हैं? क्या मैं उन में स्नान करके शुठ्ठ नहीं हो सकता हूँ? इसलिये वह जलजलाहट से भरा हुआ लौटकर चला गया।

12. And what about the Abana and Pharpar rivers of Damascus? Aren't they better than any of the rivers of Israel? Couldn't I wash in them and be made pure and clean?' So he turned and went away. He was burning with anger.

13. तब उसके सेवक पास आकर कहने लगे, हे हमारे पिता यदि भविष्यद्वक्ता तुझे कोई भारी काम करने की आज्ञा देता, तो क्या तू उसे न करता? फिर जब वह कहता है, कि स्नान करके शुठ्ठ हो जा, तो कितना अधिक इसे मानना चाहिये।

13. Naaman's servants went over to him. They said, 'You are like a father to us. What if the prophet Elisha had told you to do some great thing? Wouldn't you have done it? But he only said, 'Wash yourself. Then you will be pure and clean.' You should be even more willing to do that!'

14. तब उस ने परमेश्वर के भक्त के वचन के अनुसार यरदन को जाकर उस में सात बार डुबकी मारी, और उसका शरीर छोटे लड़के का सा हो गया; और वह शुठ्ठ हो गया।

14. So Naaman went down to the Jordan River. He dipped himself in it seven times. He did exactly what the man of God had told him to do. Then his skin was made pure again. It became clean like the skin of a young boy.

15. तब वह अपने सब दल बल समेत परमेश्वर के भक्त के यहां लौट आया, और उसके सम्मुख खड़ा होकर कहने लगा सुन, अब मैं ने जान लिया है, कि समस्त पृथ्वी में इस्राएल को छोड़ और कहीं परमेश्वर नहीं है। इसलिये अब अपने दास की भेंट ग्रहण कर।

15. Naaman and all of his attendants went back to the man of God. Naaman stood in front of Elisha. He said, 'Now I know that there is no God anywhere in the whole world except in Israel. Please accept a gift from me.'

16. एलीशा ने कहा, यहोवा जिसके सम्मुख मैं उपस्थित रहता हूँ उसके जीवन की शपथ मैं कुछ भेंट न लूंगा, और जब उस ने उसको बहुत विवश किया कि भेंट को ग्रहण करे, तब भी वह इनकार ही करता रहा।

16. The prophet answered, 'I serve the Lord. You can be sure that he lives. And you can be just as sure that I won't accept a gift from you.' Even though Naaman begged him to take it, Elisha wouldn't.

17. तब नामान ने कहा, अच्छा, तो तेरे दास को दो खच्चर मिट्टी मिले, क्योंकि आगे को तेरा दास यहोवा को छोड़ और किसी ईश्वर को होमबलि वा मेलबलि न चढ़ाएगा।

17. I can see that you won't accept a gift from me,' said Naaman. 'But please let me have some soil from your land. Give me as much as a pair of mules can carry. Here's why I want it. I won't ever bring burnt offerings and sacrifices to any other god again. I'll bring them only to the Lord. I'll worship him on his own soil.

18. एक बात तो यहोवा तेरे दास के लिये क्षमा करे, कि जब मेरा स्वामी रिम्मोन के भवन में दणडवत करने को जाए, और वह मेरे हाथ का सहारा ले, और यों मुझे भी रिम्मोन के भवन में दणडवत करनी पड़े, तब यहोवा तेरे दास का यह काम क्षमा करे कि मैं रिम्मोन के भवन में दणडवत करूं।

18. 'But there is one thing I hope the Lord will forgive me for. From time to time my master will enter the temple to bow down to his god Rimmon. When he does, he'll lean on my arm. Then I'll have to bow down there also. I hope the Lord will forgive me for that.'

19. उस ने उस से कहा, कुशल से बिदा हो।

19. 'Go in peace,' Elisha said. Naaman started out on his way.

20. वह उसके यहां से थोड़ी दूर जला गया था, कि परमेश्वर के भक्त एलीशा का सेवक गेहजी सोचने लगा, कि मेरे स्वामी ने तो उस अरामी नामान को ऐसा ही छोड़ दिया है कि जो वह ले आया था उसको उस ने न लिया, परन्तु यहोवा के जीवन की शपथ मैं उसके पीछे दौड़कर उस से कुछ न कुछ ले लूंगा।

20. Gehazi was the servant of Elisha, the man of God. Gehazi said to himself, 'My master was too easy on Naaman from Aram. He should have accepted the gift he brought. I'm going to run after Naaman. I'm going to get something from him. And that's just as sure as the Lord is alive.'

21. तब गेहजी नामान के पीछे दौड़ा, और नामान किसी को अपने पीछे दौड़ता हूआ देखकर, उस से मिलने को रथ से उतर पड़ा, और पूछा, सब कुशल क्षेम तो है?

21. Gehazi hurried after Naaman. Naaman saw him running toward him. So he got down from the chariot to greet him. 'Is everything all right?' he asked.

22. उस ने कहा, हां, सब कुशल है; परन्तु मेरे स्वामी ने मुझे यह कहने को भेजा है, कि एप्रैम के पहाड़ी देश से भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के चेलों में से दो जवान मेरे यहां अभी आए हैं, इसदिये उनके लिये एक किक्कार चान्दी और दो जोड़े वस्त्रा दे।

22. 'Everything is all right,' Gehazi answered. 'My master sent me to say, 'Two young men from the company of the prophets have just come to me. They've come from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them 75 pounds of silver and two sets of clothes.' '

23. नामान ने कहा, दो किक्कार लेने को प्रसन्न हो, तब उस ने उस से बहुत बिनती करके दो किक्कार खन्दी अलग थैलियों में बान्धकर, दो जोड़े वस्त्रा समेत अपने दो सेवकों पर लाद दिया, और वे उन्हें उसके आगे आगे ले चले।

23. 'I wish you would take twice as much silver,' said Naaman. He begged Gehazi to accept it. Then Naaman tied up 150 pounds of silver in two bags. He also gave Gehazi two sets of clothes. He gave all of it to two of his own servants. They carried it ahead of Gehazi.

24. जब वह टीले के पास पहुंचा, तब उस ने उन वस्तुओं को उन से लेकर घर में रख दिया, और उन मनुष्यों को बिदा किया, और वे चले गए।

24. Gehazi came to the hill where Elisha lived. Then the servants handed the things over to Gehazi. He put them away in Elisha's house. He sent the men away, and they left.

25. और वह भीतर जाकर, अपने स्वामी के साम्हने खड़ा हुआ। एलीशा ने उस से पूछा, हे गेहजी तू कहां से आता है? उस ने कहा, तेरा दास तो कहीं नहीं गया,

25. Then he went back inside the house. He stood in front of his master Elisha. 'Gehazi, where have you been?' Elisha asked. 'I didn't go anywhere,' Gehazi answered.

26. उस ने उस से कहा, जब वह पुरूष इधर मुंह फेरकर तुझ से मिलने को अपने रथ पर से उतरा, तब वह पूरा हाल मुझे मालूम था; क्या यह समय चान्दी वा वस्त्रा वा जलपाई वा दाख की बारियां, भेड़- बकरियां, गायबैल और दास- दासी लेने का है?

26. But Elisha said to him, 'Didn't my spirit go with you? I know that the man got down from his chariot to greet you. Is this the time for you to accept money or clothes? Is it the time to take olive groves, vineyards, flocks or herds? Is it the time to accept male and female servants?

27. इस कारण से नामान का कोढ़ तुझे और तेरे वंश को सदा लगा रहेगा। तब वह हिम सा श्वेत कोढ़ी होकर उसके साम्हने से चला गया।

27. You and your children after you will have Naaman's skin disease forever.' Then Gehazi left Elisha. And he had Naaman's skin disease. His skin was as white as snow.
