1. जब अहज्याह की माता अतल्याह ने देखा, कि मेरा पुत्रा मर गया, तब उस ने पूरे राजवंश को नाश कर डाला।

1. Then Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah when she saw that her sonne was dead, she arose, and destroyed all the Kings seede.

2. परन्तु यहोशेबा जो राजा योराम की बेटी, और अहज्याह की बहिन थी, उस ने अहज्याह के पुत्रा योआश को घात होनेवाले राजकुमारों के बीच में से चुराकर धाई समेत बिछौने रखने की कोठरी में छिपा दिया। और उन्हों ने उसे अतल्याह से ऐसा छिपा रखा, कि वह मारा न गया।

2. But Iehosheba the daughter of King Ioram, and sister to Ahaziah tooke Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah, and stale him from among the Kings sonnes that shoulde be slaine, both him and his nource, keeping them in the bed chaber, and they hid him from Athaliah, so that he was not slaine.

3. और वह उसके पास यहोवा के भवन में छेवर्ष छिपा रहा, और अतल्याह देश पर राज्य करती रही।

3. And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord sixe yeere: and Athaliah did reigne ouer the land.

4. सातवें वर्ष में यहोयादा ने जल्लादों और पहरूओं के शतपतियों को बुला भेजा, और उनको यहोवा के भवन में अपने पास ले आया; और उन से वाचा बान्धी और यहोवा के भवन में उनको शपथ खिलाकर, उनको राजपुत्रा दिखाया।

4. And the seuenth yeere Iehoiada sent and tooke the captaines ouer hundreths, with other captaines and them of the garde, and caused them to come vnto him into the house of the Lord, and made a couenant with them, and tooke an othe of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the Kings sonne.

5. और उस ने उन्हें आज्ञा दी, कि एक काम करो : अर्थात् तुम में से एक तिहाई लोग जो विश्रामदिन को आनेवाले हों, वह राजभवन के पहरे की चौकसी करें।

5. And he commanded them, saying, This is it that ye must doe, The third part of you, that commeth on the Sabbath, shall warde towarde the Kings house:

6. और एक तिहाई लोग सूर नाम फाटक में ठहरे रहें, और एक तिहाई लोग पहरूओं के पीछे के फाटक में रहें; यों तुम भवन की चौकसी करके लोगों को रोके रहना।

6. And another third part in the gate of Sur: and another thirde part in the gate behinde them of the garde: and ye shall keepe watche in the house of Massah.

7. और तुम्हारे दो दल अर्थात् जितने विश्राम दिन को बाहर जानेवाले हों वह राजा के आसपास होकर यहोवा के भवन की चौकसी करें।

7. And two parts of you, that is, all that goe out on the Sabbath day, shall keepe the watch of the house of the Lord about the King.

8. और तुम अपने अपने हाथ में हथियार लिये हुए राजा के चारों ओर रहना, और जो कोई पांतियों के भीतर घुसना चाहे वह मार डाला जाए, और तुम राजा के आते- जाते समय उसके संग रहना।

8. And ye shall compasse the King rounde about, euery man with his weapon in his hande, and whosoeuer commeth within the ranges, let him be slayne: be you with the King, as he goeth out and in.

9. यहायादा याजक की इन सब आज्ञाओं के अनुसार शतपतियों ने किया। वे विश्रामदिन को आनेवाले और जानेवाले दोनों दलों के अपने अपने जनों को संग लेकर यहोयादा याजक के पास गए।

9. And the captaines of the hundreths did according to all that Iehoiada the Priest commaded, and they tooke euery man his men that entred in to their charge on the Sabbath with them that went out of it on the Sabbath, and came to Iehoiada the Priest.

10. तब याजक ने शतपतियों को राजा दाऊद के बर्छे, और ढालें जो यहोवा के भवन में थीं दे दीं।

10. And the Priest gaue to the captaines of hundreths the speares and the shieldes that were King Dauids, and were in the house of the Lord.

11. इसलिये वे पहरूए अपने अपने हाथ में हथियार लिए हुए भवन के दक्खिनी कोने से लेकर उत्तरी कोने तक वेदी और भवन के पास राजा के चारों ओर उसकी आड़ करके खड़े हुए।

11. And the garde stoode, euery man with his weapon in his hande, from the right side of the house to the left side, about the altar and about the house, round about the King.

12. तब उस ने राजकुमार को बाहर लाकर उसके सिर पर मुकुट, और साक्षीपत्रा धर दिया; तब लोगों ने उसका अभिषेक करके उसको राजा बनाया; फिर ताली बजा बजाकर बोल उठे, राजा जीवित रहे ।

12. Then he brought out the Kings sonne, and put the crowne vpon him and gaue him the Testimonie, and they made him King: also they anoynted him, and clapt their handes, and sayde, God saue the King.

13. जब अतल्याह को पहरूओं और लोगों का हलचल सुन पड़ा, तब वह उनके पास यहोवा के भवन में गई।

13. And when Athaliah heard the noyse of the running of the people, shee came in to the people in the house of the Lord.

14. और उस ने क्या देखा कि राजा रीति के अनुसार खम्भे के पास खड़ा है, और राजा के पास प्रधान और तुरही बजानेवाले खड़े हैं। और लोग आनन्द करते और तुरहियां बजा रहे हैं। तब अतल्याह अपने वस्त्रा फाड़कर राजद्रोह.. राजद्रोह यों पुकारने लगी।

14. And when shee looked, beholde, the King stoode by a pillar, as the maner was, and the princes and the trumpetters by the King, and al the people of the land reioyced, and blew with trumpets. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and cryed, Treason, treason.

15. तब यहोयादा याजक ने दल के अधिकारी शतपतियों को आज्ञा दी कि उसे अपनी पांतियों के बीच से निकाल ले जाओ; और जो कोई उसके पीछे चले उसे तलवार से मार डालो। क्योंकि याजक ने कहा, कि वह यहोवा के भवन में न मार डाली जाए।

15. But Iehoiada the Priest commanded the captaines of the hundreths that had the rule of the hoste, and sayde vnto them, Haue her forth of the ranges, and he that followeth her, let him die by the sworde: for the Priest had sayd, Let her not be slaine in the house of the Lord.

16. इसलिये उन्हों ने दोनों ओर से उसको जगह दी, और वह उस मार्ग के बीच से चली गई, जिस से घोड़े राजभवन में जाया करते थे; और वहां वह मार डाली गई।

16. Then they laid hands on her, and she went by the way, by the which the horses goe to the house of the King, and there was she slaine.

17. तब यहोयादा ने यहोवा के, और राजा- प्रजा के बीच यहोवा की प्रजा होने की वाचा बन्धाई, और उस ने राजा और प्रजा के मध्य भी वाचा बन्धाई।

17. And Iehoiada made a couenant betweene the Lord, and the King and the people, that they should be the Lordes people: likewise betweene the King and the people.

18. तब सब लोगों ने बाल के भवन को जाकर ढा दिया, और उसकी वेदियां और मूरतें भली भंति तोड़ दीं; और मतान नाम बाल के याजक को वेदियों के साम्हने ही घात किया। और याजक ने यहोवा के भवन पर अधिकारी ठहरा दिए।

18. Then all the people of the lande went into the house of Baal, and destroyed it with his altars, and his images brake they downe courageously, and slewe Mattan the Priest of Baal before the altars: and the Priest set a garde ouer the house of the Lord.

19. तब वह शतपतियों, जल्लादों और पहरूओं और सब लोगों को साथ लेकर राजा को यहोवा के भवन से नीचे ले गया, और पहरूओं के फाटक के मार्ग से राजभवन को पहुंचा दिया। और राजा राजगद्दी पर विराजमान हुआ।

19. Then he tooke the captaines of hudreths, and the other captaines, and the garde, and all the people of the lande: and they brought the King from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the garde to the Kings house: and he sate him downe on the throne of the Kings.

20. तब सब लोग आनन्दित हुए, और नगर में शान्ति हुई। अतल्याह तो राजभवन के पास तलवार से मार डाली गई थी।

20. And all the people of the land reioyced, and the citie was in quiet: for they had slaine Athaliah with the sworde beside the Kings house.

21. जब योआश राजा हुआ, उस समय वह सात पर्ष का था।

21. Seuen yeere olde was Iehoash when he began to reigne.
