2. Ahaziah fell down through the wooden bars in his upstairs room in Samaria and was badly hurt. He sent messengers and told them, 'Go, ask Baal-Zebub, god of Ekron, if I will recover from my injuries.'

3. तब यहोवा के दूत ने तिशबी एलिरयाह से कहा, उठकर शोमरोन के राजा के दूतों से मिलने को जा, और उन से कह, क्या इस्राएल में कोई परमेश्वर नहीं जो तुम एक्रोन के बालजबूब देवता से पूछने जाते हो?

3. But the Lord's angel said to Elijah the Tishbite, 'Go up and meet the messengers sent by the king of Samaria. Ask them, 'Why are you going to ask questions of Baal-Zebub, god of Ekron? Is it because you think there is no God in Israel?'

4. इसलिये अब यहोवा तुझ से यों कहता है, कि जिस पलंग पर तू पड़ा है, उस पर से कभी न उठेगा, परन्तु मर ही जाएगा। तब एलिरयाह चला गया।

4. This is what the Lord says: 'You will never get up from the bed you are lying on; you will die.'' Then Elijah left.

5. जब अहज्याह के दूत उसके पास लौट आए, तब उस ने उन से पूछा, तुम क्यों लौट आए हो?

5. When the messengers returned to Ahaziah, he asked them, 'Why have you returned?'

6. उन्हों ने उस से कहा, कि एक मनुष्य हम से मिलने को आया, और कहा, कि जिस राजा ने तुम को भेजा उसके पास लौटकर कहो, यहोवा यों कहता है, कि क्या इस्राएल में कोई परमेश्वर नहीं जो तू एक्रोन के बालजबूब देवता से पूछने को भेजता है? इस कारण जिस पलंग पर तू पड़ा है, उस पर से कभी न उठेगा, परन्तु मर ही जाएगा।

6. They said, 'A man came to meet us. He said, 'Go back to the king who sent you and tell him what the Lord says: 'Why do you send messengers to ask questions of Baal-Zebub, god of Ekron? Is it because you think there is no God in Israel? You will never get up from the bed you are lying on; you will die.'' '

7. Ahaziah asked them, 'What did the man look like who met you and told you this?'

8. They answered, 'He was a hairy man and wore a leather belt around his waist.' Ahaziah said, 'It was Elijah the Tishbite.'

9. Then he sent a captain with his fifty men to Elijah. The captain went to Elijah, who was sitting on top of the hill, and said to him, 'Man of God, the king says, 'Come down!''

10. एलिरयाह ने उस पचास सिपाहियों के प्रधान से कहा, यदि मैं परमेश्वर का भक्त हूँ तो आकाश से आग गिरकर तुझे तेरे पचासों समेत भस्म कर डाले। तब आकाश से आग उतरी और उसे उसके पचासों समेत भस्म कर दिया।

10. Elijah answered the captain, 'If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and burn up you and your fifty men.' Then fire came down from heaven and burned up the captain and his fifty men.

11. फिर राजा ने उसके पास पचास सिपाहियों के एक और प्रधान को, पचासों सिपाहियों समेत भेज दिया। प्रधान ने उस से कहा हे परमेश्वर के भक्त राजा ने कहा है, कि फुत से तू उतर आ।

11. Ahaziah sent another captain and fifty men to Elijah. The captain said to him, 'Man of God, this is what the king says: 'Come down quickly!''

12. एलिरयाह ने उत्तर देकर उन से कहा, यदि मैं परमेश्वर का भक्त हूँ तो आकाश से आग गिरकर तुझे, तेरे पचासों समेत भस्म कर डाले; तब आकाश से परमेश्वर की आग उतरी और उसे उसके पचासों समेत भस्म कर दिया।

12. Elijah answered, 'If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and burn up you and your fifty men!' Then fire came down from heaven and burned up the captain and his fifty men.

13. फिर राजा ने तीसरी बार पचास सिपाहियों के एक और प्रधान को, पचासों सिपाहियों समेत भेज दिया, और पचास का वह तीसरा प्रधान चढ़कर, एलिरयाह के साम्हने घुटनों के बल गिरा, और गिड़गिड़ा कर उस से कहने लगा, हे परमेश्वर के भक्त मेरा प्राण और तेरे इन पचास दासों के प्राण तेरी दृष्टि में अनमोल ठहरें।

13. Ahaziah then sent a third captain with his fifty men. The third captain came and fell down on his knees before Elijah and begged, 'Man of God, please respect my life and the lives of your fifty servants.

14. पचास पचास सिपाहियों के जो दो प्रधान अपने अपने पचासों समेत पहिले आए थे, उनको तो आग ने आकाश से गिरकर भस्म कर डाला, परन्तु अब मेरा प्राण तेरी दृष्टि में अनमोल ठहरे।

14. See, fire came down from heaven and burned up the first two captains of fifty with all their men. But now, respect my life.'

15. तब यहोवा के दूत ने उलिरयाह से कहा, उसके संग नीचे जा, उस से पत डर। तब एलिरयाह उठकर उसके संग राजा के पास नीचे गया।

15. The Lord's angel said to Elijah, 'Go down with him and don't be afraid of him.' So Elijah got up and went down with him to see the king.

16. और उस से कहा, यहोवा यों कहता है, कि तू ने तो एक्रोन के बालजबूब देवता से पूछने को दूत भेजे थे तो क्या इस्राएल में कोई परमेश्वर नहीं कि जिस से तू पूछ सके? इस कारण तू जिस पलंग पर पड़ा है, उस पर से कभी न उठेगा, परन्तु मर ही जाएगा।

16. Elijah told Ahaziah, 'This is what the Lord says: 'You have sent messengers to ask questions of Baal-Zebub, god of Ekron. Is it because you think there is no God in Israel to ask? Because of this, you will never get up from your bed; you will die.''

17. यहोवा के इस वचन के अनुसार जो एलिरयाह ने कहा था, वह मर गया। और उसके सन्तान न होने के कारण यहोराम उसके स्थान पर यहूदा के राजा यहोशापात के पुत्रा यहोराम के दूसरे वर्ष में राज्य करने लगा।

17. So Ahaziah died, just as the Lord, through Elijah, had said he would. Joram became king in Ahaziah's place during the second year Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat was king of Judah. Joram ruled because Ahaziah had no son to take his place.

18. अहज्याह के और काम जो उस ने किए वह क्या इस्राएल के राजाओं के इतिहास की पुस्तक में नहीं लिखे हैं?
