1. नाबोत नाम एक यिज्रेली की एक दाख की बारी शोमरोन के राजा अहाब के राजमन्दिर के पास यिज्रेल में थी।

1. And it came to pass after these things [that] Naboth of Jezreel had a vineyard, which [was] in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria.

2. इन बातों के बाद आीाब ने नाबोत से कहा, तेरी दाख की बारी मेरे घर के पास है, तू उसे मुझे दे कि मैं उस में साग पात की बारी लगाऊं; और मैं उसके बदले तुझे उस से अच्छी एक बाटिका दूंगा, नहीं तो तेरी इच्छा हो तो मैं तुझे उसका मूल्य दे दूंगा।

2. And Ahab spoke unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard that I may have it for a garden of herbs because it [is] next to my house, and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; [or] if it seems good unto thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.

3. नाबोत ने यहाब से कहा, यहोवा न करे कि मैं अपने पुरखाओं का निज भाग तुझे दूं !

3. And Naboth replied unto Ahab, The LORD keep me from giving thee the inheritance of my fathers.

4. यिज्रेली नाबोत के इस वचन के कारण कि मैं तुझे अपने पुरखाओं का निज भाग न दूंगा, अहाब उदास और अप्रसन्न होकर अपते घर गया, और बिछौने पर लेट गया और मुंह फेर लिया, और कुछ भेजन न किया।

4. And Ahab came into his house, sad and angry, because of the word which Naboth of Jezreel had spoken to him, for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he lay down upon his bed and turned away his face and would eat no bread.

5. तब उसकी पत्नी ईज़ेबेल ने उसके पास आकर पूछा, तेरा मन क्यों ऐसा उदास है कि तू कुछ भोजन नहीं करता?

5. And Jezebel, his wife, came to him and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad that thou dost eat no bread?

6. उस ने कहा, कारण यह है, कि मैं ने यिज्रेली नाबोत से कहा कि रूपया लेकर मुझे अपनी दाख की बारी दे, नहीं तो यदि नू चाहे तो मैं उसकी सन्ती दूसरी दाख की बारी दूंगा; और उसने कहा, मैं अपनी दाख की बारी तुझे न दूंगा।

6. And he said unto her, Because I spoke with Naboth of Jezreel and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee [another] vineyard for it; and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

7. उसकी पत्नी ईज़ेबेल ने उस से कहा, क्या तू इस्राएल पर राज्य करता है कि नहीं? उठकर भोजन कर; और तेरा मन आनन्दित हो; यिज्रेली नाबोत की दाख की बारी मैं तुझे दिलवा दूंगी।

7. And Jezebel, his wife, said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? Arise [and] eat bread and let thy heart be merry; I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreel.

8. तब उस ने अहाब के नाम से चिट्ठी लिखकर उसकी अंगूठी की छाप लगाकर, उन पुरनियों और रईसों के पास भेज दी जो उसी नगर में नाबोत के पड़ोस में रहते थे।

8. So she wrote letters in Ahab's name and sealed [them] with his seal and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that [were] in his city dwelling with Naboth.

9. उस चिट्ठी में उस ने यों लिखा, कि उपवास का प्रचार करो, और नाबोत को लोगों के साम्हने ऊंचे स्थान पर बैठाना।

9. And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast and set Naboth at the head of the people

10. तब दो नीच जनों को उसके साम्हने बैठाना जो साक्षी देकर उस से कहें, तू ने परमेश्वर और राजा दोनों की निन्दा की। नब नुम लोग उसे बाहर ले जाकर उसको पत्थरवाह करना, कि वह मर जाए।

10. and set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And [then] carry him out and stone him that he may die.

11. ईज़ेबेल की चिट्ठी में की आज्ञा के अनुसार नगर में रहनेवाले पुरनियों और रईसों ने उपवास का प्रचार किया,

11. And the men of his city, [even] the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them [and] as it [was] written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

12. और नाबोत को लोगों के साम्हने ऊंचे स्थान पर बैठाया।

12. They proclaimed a fast and set Naboth at the head of the people.

13. तब दो नीच जन आकर उसके सम्मुख बैठ गए; और उन नीच जनों ने लोगों लोगों के साम्हने नाबोत के विम्ठ्ठ यह साक्षी दी, कि नाबोत ने परमेश्वर और राजा दोनों की निन्दा की। इस पर उन्हों ने उसे नगर से बाहर ले जाकर उसको पत्थरवाह किया, और वह मर गया।

13. Then the two men, sons of Belial, came in and sat before him; and those men of Belial witnessed against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth blasphemed God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones that he died.

14. तब उन्हों ने ईज़ेबेल के पास यह कहला भेजा कि नाबोत पत्थरवाह करके मार डाला गया है।

14. Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth has been stoned and is dead.

15. यह सुनते ही कि नाबोत पत्थरवाह करके मारडाला गया है, ईज़ेबेल ने अहाब से कहा, उठकर यिज्रेली नाबोत की दाख की बारी को जिसे उस ने तुझे रूपया लेकर देने से भी इनकार किया था अपने अधिकार में ले, क्योंकि नाबोत जीवित नहीं परन्तु वह मर गया है।

15. And it came to pass when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead that she said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreel which he refused to give thee for money, for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

16. यिज्रेली नाबोत की मृत्यु का समाचार पाते ही अहाब उसकी दाख की बारी अपने अधिकार में लेने के लिये वहां जाने को उठ खड़ा हुआ।

16. And it came to pass when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreel, to take possession of it.

17. तब यहोवा का यह वचन निशबी एलिरयह के पास पहुंचा, कि चल,

17. Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah, the Tishbite, saying,

18. शोमरोन में रहनेवाले इस्राएल के राजा अहाब से मिलने को जा; वह तो नाबोत की दाख की बारी में है, उसे अपने अधिकार में लेने को वह वहां गया है।

18. Arise, go down to meet Ahab, king of Israel, who [is] in Samaria; behold, [he is] in the vineyard of Naboth, where he is gone down to possess it.

19. और उस से यह कहना, कि यहोवा यों कहता है, कि क्या तू ने घात किया, और अधिकारी भी बन बैटा? फिर तू उस से यह भी कहना, कि यहोवा यों कहता है, कि जिस स्थान पर कुत्तों ने नाबोत का लोहू चाटा, उसी स्थान पर कुत्ते तेरा भी लोहू चाटेंगे।

19. And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus hath the LORD said, Hast thou murdered and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him again, saying, Thus hath the LORD said, In the same place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall the dogs also lick thy blood, even thine.

20. एलिरयाह को देखकर अहाब ने कहा, हे मेरे शत्रु ! क्या तू ने मेरा पता लगाया है? उस ने कहा हां, लगाया तो है; और इसका कारण यह है, कि जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में बुरा है, उसे करने के लिये तू ने अपने को बेच डाला है।

20. And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found [thee] because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

21. मैं तुझ पर ऐसी विपत्ति डालूंगा, कि तुझे पूरी रीति से मिटा डालूंगा; और अहाब के घर के एक एक लड़के को और क्या बन्धुए, क्या स्वाधीन इस्राएल में हर एक रहनेवाले को भी नाश कर डालूंगा।

21. Behold, I will bring evil upon thee and will burn away thy posterity and will cut off from Ahab him that pisses against the wall and he that is kept and he that is left in Israel.

22. और मैं तेरा घराना नबात के पुत्रा यारोबाम, और अहिरयाह के पुत्रा बाशा का सा कर दूंगा; इसलिये कि तू ने मुझे क्रोधित किया है, और इस्राएल से पाप करवाया है।

22. And I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha, the son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which thou hast provoked [me] to anger and made Israel to sin.

23. और ईज़ेबेल के विषय में यहोवा यह कहता है, कि यिज्रेल के किले के पास कुत्ते ईज़ेबेल को खा डालेंगे।

23. And of Jezebel, the LORD has also spoken, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the rampart of Jezreel.

24. अहाब का जो काई नगर में मर जाएगा उसको कुत्ते खा लेंगे; और जो कोई मैदान में मर जाएगा उसको आकाश के पक्षी खा जाएंगे।

24. Him that dies of Ahab in the city, the dogs shall eat, and him that dies in the field, shall the fowls of the air eat.

25. सचमुच अहाब के तुल्य और कोई न था जिसने अपनी पत्नी ईज़ेबेल के उसकाने पर वह काम करने को जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में बुरा है, अपने को बेच डाला था।

25. (Truly there was none like unto Ahab, who sold himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife incited him.

26. वह तो उन एमोरियों की नाई जिनको यहोवा ने इस्राएलियों के साम्हने से देश से निकाला था बहुत ही घिनौने काम करता था, अर्थात् मूरतों की उपासना करने लगा था।

26. He was very abominable, following idols, according to all the [things] that the Amorites did, whom the LORD cast out before the sons of Israel.)

27. एलिरयाह के ये वचन सुनकर अहाब ने अपने वस्त्रा फाड़े, और अपनी देह पर टाट लपेटकर उपवास करने और टाट ही ओढ़े पड़ा रहने लगा, और दबे पांवों चलने लगा।

27. And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh and fasted and slept in sackcloth and went softly.

28. और यहोवा का यह वचन तिशबी एलिरयाह के पास पहुंचा,

28. Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah, the Tishbite, saying,

29. कि क्या तू ने देखा है कि अहाब मेरे साम्हने नम्र बन गया है? इस कारण कि वह मेरे साम्हने नम्र बन गया है मैं वह विपत्ति उसके जीते जी उस पर न डालूंगा परन्तू उसके पुत्रा के दिनों में मैं उसके घराने पर वह पिपत्ति भेजूंगा।

29. Seest thou how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days, [but] in his son's days I will bring the evil upon his house.:
