1. दाऊद राजा बूढ़ा वरन बहुत पुरनिया हुआ; और यद्यपि उसको कपड़े ओढ़ाये जाते थे, तौभी वह गर्म न होता था।

1. Now King David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he got no heat.

2. सो उसके कर्मचारियों ने उस से कहा, हमारे प्रभु राजा के लिये कोई जवान कुंवारी ढूंढ़ी जाए, जो राजा के सम्मुख रहकर उसकी सेवा किया करे और तेरे पास लेटा करे, कि हमारे प्रभु राजा को गम पहुंचे।

2. Therefore his slaves said to him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

3. तब उन्हों ने समस्त इस्राएली देश में सुन्दर कुंवारी ढूंढ़ते ढूंढ़ते अबीशग नाम एक शूनेमिन को पाया, और राजा के पास ले आए।

3. So they sought for a beautiful damsel throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

4. वह कन्या बहुत ही सुन्दर थी; और वह राजा की दासी होकर उसकी सेवा करती रही; परन्तु राजा उस से सहबास न हुआ।

4. And the damsel was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king didn't have any sex with her.

5. तब हग्गीत का पुत्रा अदोनिरयाह सिर ऊंचा करके कहने लगा कि मैं राजा हूंगा; सो उस ने रथ और सवार और अपने आगे आगे दौड़ने को पचास पुरूष रख लिए।

5. Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

6. उसके पिता ने तो जन्म से लेकर उसे कभी यह कहकर उदास न किया था कि तू ने ऐसा क्यों किया। वह बहुत रूपवान था, और अबशालोम के पीछे उसका जन्म हुआ था।

6. And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why have you done so? And he was also a very goodly man; and he was born after Absalom.

7. और उस ने सरूयाह के पुत्रा योआब से और एब्यातार याजक से बातचीत की, और उन्हों ने उसके पीछे होकर उसकी सहायता की।

7. And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and those following Adonijah helped him.

8. परन्तु सादोक याजक यहोयादा का पुत्रा बनायाह, नातान नबी, शिमी रेई, और दाऊद के शूरवीरों ने अदोनिरयाह का साथ न दिया।

8. But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

9. और अदोनिरयाह ने जोहेलेत नाम पत्थ्र के पास जो एनरोगेल के निकट है, भेड़- बैल और तैयार किए हुए पशू बलि किए, और अपने भाई सब राजकुमारों को, और राजा के सब यहूदी कर्मचारियों को बुला लिया।

9. And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's slaves:

10. परन्तु नातान नबी, और बनायाह और शूरवीरों को और अपने भाई सुलैमान को उस ने न बुलाया।

10. but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he did not call.

11. तब नातान ने सुलैमान की माता बतशेबा से कहा, क्या तू ने सुना है कि हग्गीत का पुत्रा अदोनिरयाह राजा बन बैठा है और हमारा प्रभु दाऊद हसे नहीं जानता?

11. Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord does not know it?

12. इसलिये अब आ, मैं तुझे ऐसी सम्मति देता हूँ, जिस से तू अपना और अपने पुत्रा सुलैमान का प्राण बचाए।

12. Now therefore come, let me, I pray you, give you counsel, that you may save your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.

13. तू दाऊद राजा के पास जाकर, उस से यों पूछ, कि हे मेरे प्रभु ! हे राजा ! क्या तू ने शपथ खाकर अपनी दासी से नहीं कहा, कि तेरा पुत्रा सुलैमान मेरे पीछे राजा होगा, और वह मेरी राजगद्दी पर विराजेगा? फिर अदोनिरयाह क्यों राजा बन बैठा है?

13. Go and get in to King David, and say to him, Did you not, my lord, O king, swear to your slave, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign?

14. और जब तू वहां राजा से ऐसी बातें करती रहेगी, तब मैं तेरे पीछे आकर, तेरी बातों को पुष्ट करूंगा।

14. Look, while you yet talk there with the king, I also will come in after you, and confirm your words.

15. तब बतशेबा राजा के पास कोठरी में गई; राजा तो बहुत बूढ़ा था, और उसकी सेवा टहल शूनेमिन अबीशग करती थी।

15. And Bathsheba went in to the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king.

16. और बतशेबा ने झुककर राजा को दणडवत् की, और राजा ने पूछा, तू क्या चाहती है?

16. And Bathsheba bowed, and did obeisance to the king. And the king said, What do you want?

17. उस ने उत्तर दिया, हे मेरे प्रभु, तू ने तो अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की शपथ खाकर अपनी दासी से कहा था कि तेरा पुत्रा सुलैमान मेरे पीछे राजा होगा और वह मेरी गद्दी पर विराजेगा।

17. And she said to him, My lord, you swore by Yahweh your God to your slave, [saying,] Assuredly Solomon your son will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne.

18. अब देख अदोनिरयाह राजा बन बैठा है, और अब तक मेरा प्रभु राजा इसे नहीं जानता।

18. And now, look, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, do not know it:

19. और उस ने बहुत से बैल तैयार किए, पशु और भेड़ें बलि कीं, और सब राजकुमारों की और एब्यातार याजक और योआब सेनापति को बुलाया है, परन्तु तेरे दास सुलैमान को नहीं बुलाया।

19. and he has slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host; but Solomon your slave he has not called.

20. और हे मेरे प्रभु ! जे राजा ! सब इसाएली तुझे ताक रहे हैं कि तू उन से कहे, कि हमारे प्रभु राजा की गद्दी पर उसके पीछे कौन बैठेगा।

20. And you, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

21. नहीं तो जब हमारा प्रभु राजा, अपने पुरखाओं के संग सोएगा, तब मैं और मेरा पुत्रा सुलैमान दोनों अपराधी गिने जाएंगे।

21. Otherwise it will come to pass, when my lord the king will sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders.

22. यों बतशेबा राजा से बातें कर ही रही थी, कि नातान नबी भी आ गया।

22. And, look, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.

23. और राजा से कहा गया कि नातान नबी हाज़िर है; तब वह राजा के सम्मुख आया, और मुह के बल गिरकर राजा को दणडवत् की।

23. And they told the king, saying, Look, Nathan the prophet. And when he came in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

24. और नातान कहने लगा, हे मेरे पभु, हे राजा ! क्या तू ने कहा है, कि अदोनिरयाह मेरे पीछे राजा होगा और वह मेरी गद्दी पर विराजेगा?

24. And Nathan said, My lord, O king, have you said, Adonijah will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne?

25. देख उस ने आज नीचे जाकर बहुत से बैल, तैयार किए हुए पशु और भेड़ें बलि की हैं, और सब राजकुमारों और सेनापतियों को और एब्यातार याजक को भी बुलालिया है; और वे उसके सम्मुख खाते पीते हुए कह रहे हैं कि अदोनिरयाह राजा जीवित रहे।

25. For he has gone down this day, and has slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, look, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, [Long] live King Adonijah.

26. परन्तु मुझ तेरे दास को, और सादोक याजक और यहोयादा के पुत्रा बनायाह, और तेरे दास सुलैमान को उस ने नहीं बुलाया।

26. But me, even me your slave, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your slave Solomon, he has not called.

27. क्या यह मेरे प्रभु राजा की ओर से हुआ? तू ने तो अपने दास को यह नहीं जताया है, कि प्रभु राजा की गद्दी पर कौन उसके पीछे विराजेगा।

27. Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you have not shown to your slave who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?

28. दाऊद राजा ने कहा, बतशेबा को मेरे पास बुला लाओ। तब वह राजा के पास आकर उसके साम्हने खड़ी हुई।

28. Then King David answered and said, Call to me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.

29. राजा ने शपथ खाकर कहा, यहोवा जो मेरा प्राण सब जोखिमों से बचाता आया है,

29. And the king swore, and said, As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

30. उसके जीवन की शपथ, जैसा मैं ने तुझ से इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की शपथ खाकर कहा था, कि तेरा पुत्रा सुलैमान मेरे पीछे राजा होगा, और वह मेरे बदले मेरी गद्दी पर विराजेगा, वैसा ही मैं निश्चय आज के दिन करूंगा।

30. truly as I swore to you by Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne in my stead; truly so I will do this day.

31. तब बतशेबा ने भूमि पर मुंह के बल गिर राजा को दणडवत् करके कहा, मेरा प्रभु राजा दाऊद सदा तक जीवित रहे !

31. Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did obeisance to the king, and said, Let my lord King David live forever.

32. तब दाऊद राजा ने कहा, मेरे पास सादोक याजक नातान नबी, अहोयादा के पुत्रा बनायाह को बुला लाओ। सो वे राजा के साम्हने आए।

32. And King David said, Call to me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.

33. राजा ने उन से कहा, अपने प्रभु के कर्मचारियो को साथ लेकर मेरे पुत्रा सुलैमान को मेरे निज खच्चर पर चढ़ाओ; और गीहोन को ले जाओ;

33. And the king said to them, Take with you+ the slaves of your+ lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:

34. और वहां सादोक याजक और नातान नबी इस्राएल का राजा होने को उसका अभिषेक करें; तुब तुम सब नरसिंगा फूंककर कहना, राजा सुलैमान जीवित रहे।

34. and let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel; and blow+ the trumpet, and say, [Long] live King Solomon.

35. और तुम उसके पीछे पीछे इधर आना, और वह अकर मेरे सिंहासन पर विराजे, क्योंकि मेरे बदले में वही राजा होगा; और उसी को मैं ने इस्राएल और यहूदा का प्रधान होने को ठहराया है।

35. Then you+ will come up after him, and he will come and sit on my throne; for he will be king in my stead; and I have appointed him to be leader over Israel and over Judah.

36. तब यहोयादा के पुत्रा बनायाह ने कहा, आमीन ! मेरे प्रभु राजा का परमेश्वर यहोवा भी ऐसा ही कहे।

36. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: Yahweh, the God of my lord the king, says so [too].

37. जिस रीति यहोवा मेरे प्रभु राजा के संग रहा, उसी रीति वह सुलैमान के भी संग रहे, और उसका राज्य मेरे प्रभु दाऊद राजा के राज्य से भी अधिक बढ़ाए।

37. As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, even so he will be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.

38. तब सादोक याजक और नातान नबी और यहोयादा का पुत्रा बनायाह करेतियों और पलेतियों को संग लिए हुए नीचे गए, और सुलैमान को राजा दाऊद के खच्चर पर चढ़ाकर गीहोन को ले चले।

38. So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.

39. तब सादोक याजक ने यहोवा के तम्बू में से तेल भरा हुआ सींग निकाला, और सुलैमान का राज्याभिषेक किया। और वे नरसिंगे फूंकने लगे; और सब लोग बोल उठे, राजा सुलैमान जीविन रहे।

39. And Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, [Long] live King Solomon.

40. तब सब लोग उसके पीछे पीछे बांसुली बजाते और इतना बड़ा आनन्द करते हुए ऊपर गए, कि उनकी ध्वनि से पृथ्वी डोल उठी।

40. And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

41. जब अदोनिरयाह और उसके सब नेवतहरी खा चुके थे, तब यह ध्वनि उनको सुनाई पड़ी। और योआब ने नरसिंगे का शब्द सुनकर पूछा, नगर में हलचल और चिल्लाहट का शब्द क्यों हो रहा है?

41. And Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?

42. वह यह कहता ही था, कि एब्यातार याजक का पुत्रा योनातन आया और अदोनिरयाह ने उस से कहा, भीतर आ; तू तो भला मनुष्य है, और भला समाचार भी लाया होगा।

42. While he yet spoke, look, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said, Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news.

43. योनातन ने अदोनिरयाह से कहा, सचमुच हमारे प्रभु राजा दाऊद ने सुलैमान को राजा बना दिया।

43. And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Truly our lord King David has made Solomon king:

44. और राजा ने सादोक याजक, नातान नबी और यहोयादा के पुत्रा बनायाह और करेतियों और पलेतियों को उसके संग भेज दिया, और उन्हों ने उसको राजा के खच्चर पर चढ़ाया है।

44. and the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king's mule;

45. और सादोक याजक, और नातान नबी ने गीहोन में उसका राज्याभिषेक किया है; और वे वहां से ऐसा आनन्द करते हुए ऊपर गए हैं कि नगर में हलचल मच गई, और जो शब्द तुम को सुनाई पड़ रहा है वही है।

45. and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon; and they have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you+ have heard.

46. सुलैमान राजगद्दी पर विराज भी रहा है।

46. And also Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.

47. फिर राजा के कर्मचारी हमारे प्रभु दाऊद राजा को यह कहकर धन्य कहने आए, कि तेरा परमेश्वर, सुलैमान का नाम, तेरे नाम से भी महान करे, और उसका राज्य तेरे राज्य से भी अधिक बढ़ाए; और राजा ने अपने पलंग पर दणडवत् की।

47. And moreover the king's slaves came to bless our lord King David, saying, Your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne: and the king bowed himself on the bed.

48. फिर राजा ने यह भी कहा, कि इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा धन्य है, जिस ने आज मेरे देखते एक को मेरी गद्दी पर विराजमान किया है।

48. And also thus said the king, Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.

49. तब जितने नेवतहरी अदोनिरयाह के संग थे वे सब थरथरा गए, और उठकर अपना अपना मार्ग लिया।

49. And all the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.

50. और अदोनिरयाह सुलैमान से डर कर अठा, और जाकर वेदी के सींगों को पकड़ लिया।

50. And Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

51. तब सुलैमान को यह समाचार मिला कि अदोनिरयाह सुलैमान राजा से ऐसा डर गया है कि उस ने वेदी के सींगों को यह कहकर पकड़ लिया है, कि आज राजा सुलैमान शपथ खाए कि अपने दास को तलवार से न मार डालेगा।

51. And it was told Solomon, saying, Look, Adonijah fears King Solomon; for, look, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not slay his slave with the sword.

52. सुलैमान ने कहा, यदि वह भलमनसी दिखाए तो उसका एक बाल भी भूमि पर गिरने न पाएगा, परन्तु यदि उस में दुष्टता पाई जाए, तो वह मारा जाएगा।

52. And Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, not a hair of him will fall to the earth; but if wickedness is found in him, he will die.

53. तब राजा सुलैमान ने लोगों को भेज दिया जो उसको वेदी के पास से उतार ले आए तब उस ने आकर राजा सुलैमान को दणडवत् की और सुलैेमान ने उस से कहा, अपने घर चला जा।

53. So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and did obeisance to King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, Go to your house.
