1. फिर याकूब ने अपने पुत्रों को यह कहकर बुलाया, कि इकट्ठे हो जाओ, मैं तुम को बताऊंगा, कि अन्त के दिनों में तुम पर क्या क्या बीतेगा।

1. And Jacob calleth unto his sons and saith, 'Be gathered together, and I declare to you that which doth happen with you in the latter end of the days.

2. हे याकूब के पुत्रों, इकट्ठे होकर सुनो, अपने पिता इस्राएल की ओर कान लगाओ।

2. 'Be assembled, and hear, sons of Jacob, And hearken unto Israel your father.

3. हे रूबेन, तू मेरा जेठा, मेरा बल, और मेरे पौरूष का पहिला फल है; प्रतिष्ठा का उत्तम भाग, और शक्ति का भी उत्तम भाग तू ही है।

3. Reuben! my first-born thou, My power, and beginning of my strength, The abundance of exaltation, And the abundance of strength;

4. तू जो जल की नाईं उबलनेवाला है, इसलिये औरों से श्रेष्ठ न ठहरेगा; क्योंकि तू अपने पिता की खाट पर चढ़ा, तब तू ने उसको अशुद्ध किया; वह मेरे बिछौने पर चढ़ गया।।

4. Unstable as water, thou art not abundant; For thou hast gone up thy father's bed; Then thou hast polluted: My couch he went up!

5. शिमोन और लेवी तो भाई भाई हैं, उनकी तलवारें उपद्रव के हथियार हैं।

5. Simeon and Levi [are] brethren! Instruments of violence -- their espousals!

6. हे मेरे जीव, उनके मर्म में न पड़, हे मेरी महिमा, उनकी सभा में मत मिल; क्योंकि उन्हों ने कोप से मनुष्यों को घात किया, और अपनी ही इच्छा पर चलकर बैलों की पूंछें काटी हैं।।

6. Into their secret, come not, O my soul! Unto their assembly be not united, O mine honour; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will eradicated a prince.

7. धिक्कार उनके कोप को, जो प्रचण्ड था; और उनके रोष को, जो निर्दय था; मैं उन्हें याकूब में अलग अलग और इस्राएल में तित्तर बित्तर कर दूंगा।।

7. Cursed [is] their anger, for [it is] fierce, And their wrath, for [it is] sharp; I divide them in Jacob, And I scatter them in Israel.

8. हे यहूदा, तेरे भाई तेरा धन्यवाद करेंगे, तेरा हाथ तेरे शत्रुओं की गर्दन पर पड़ेगा; तेरे पिता के पुत्रा तुझे दण्डवत् करेंगे।।

8. Judah! thou -- thy brethren praise thee! Thy hand [is] on the neck of thine enemies, Sons of thy father bow themselves to thee.

9. यहूदा सिंह का डांवरू है। हे मेरे पुत्रा, तू अहेर करके गुफा में गया है : वह सिंह वा सिंहनी की नाई दबकर बैठ गया; फिर कौन उसको छेड़ेगा।।

9. A lion's whelp [is] Judah, For prey, my son, thou hast gone up; He hath bent, he hath crouched as a lion, And as a lioness; who causeth him to arise?

10. जब तक शीलो न आए तब तक न तो यहूदा से राजदण्ड छूटेगा, न उसके वंश से व्यवस्था देनेवाला अलग होगा; और राज्य राज्य के लोग उसके अधीन हो जाएंगे।।

10. The sceptre turneth not aside from Judah, And a lawgiver from between his feet, Till his Seed come; And his [is] the obedience of peoples.

11. वह अपने जवान गदहे को दाखलता में, और अपनी गदही के बच्चे को उत्तम जाति की दाखलता में बान्धा करेगा ; उस ने अपने वस्त्रा दाखमधु में, और अपना पहिरावा दाखों के रस में धोया है।।

11. Binding to the vine his ass, And to the choice vine the colt of his ass, He hath washed in wine his clothing, And in the blood of grapes his covering;

12. उसकी आंखे दाखमधु से चमकीली और उसके दांत दूध से श्वेत होंगे।।

12. Red [are] eyes with wine, And white [are] teeth with milk!

13. जबूलून समुद्र के तीर पर निवास करेगा, वह जहाजों के लिये बन्दरगाह का काम देगा, और उसका परला भाग सीदोन के निकट पहुंचेगा

13. Zebulun at a haven of the seas doth dwell, And he [is] for a haven of ships; And his side [is] unto Zidon.

14. इस्साकार एक बड़ा और बलवन्त गदहा है, जो पशुओं के बाड़ों के बीच में दबका रहता है।।

14. Issacher [is] a strong ass, Crouching between the two folds;

15. उस ने एक विश्रामस्थान देखकर, कि अच्छा है, और एक देश, कि मनोहर है, अपने कन्धे को बोझ उठाने के लिये झुकाया, और बेगारी में दास का सा काम करने लगा।।

15. And he seeth rest that [it is] good, And the land that [it is] pleasant, And he inclineth his shoulder to bear, And is to tribute a servant.

16. दान इस्राएल का एक गोत्रा होकर अपने जातिभाइयों का न्याय करेगा।।

16. Dan doth judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel;

17. दान मार्ग में का एक सांप, और रास्ते में का एक नाग होगा, जो घोड़े की नली को डंसता है, जिस से उसका सवार पछाड़ खाकर गिर पड़ता है।।

17. Dan is a serpent by the way, An adder by the path, Which is biting the horse's heels, And its rider falleth backward.

18. हे यहोवा, मैं तुझी से उद्धार पाने की बाट जोहता आया हूं।।

18. For Thy salvation I have waited, Jehovah!

19. गाद पर एक दल चढ़ाई तो करेगा; पर वह उसी दल के पिछले भाग पर छापा मारेगा।।

19. Gad! a troop assaulteth him, But he assaulteth last.

20. आशेर से जो अन्न उत्पन्न होगा वह उत्तम होगा, और वह राजा के योग्य स्वादिष्ट भोजन दिया करेगा।।

20. Out of Asher his bread [is] fat; And he giveth dainties of a king.

21. नप्ताली एक छूटी हुई हरिणी है; वह सुन्दर बातें बोलता है।।

21. Naphtali [is] a hind sent away, Who is giving beauteous young ones.

22. यूसुफ बलवन्त लता की एक शाखा है, वह सोते के पास लगी हुई फलवन्त लता की एक शाखा है; उसकी डालियां भीत पर से चढ़कर फैल जाती हैं।।

22. Joseph [is] a fruitful son; A fruitful son by a fountain, Daughters step over the wall;

23. धनुर्धारियों ने उसको खेदित किया, और उस पर तीर मारे, और उसके पीछे पड़े हैं।।

23. And embitter him -- yea, they have striven, Yea, hate him do archers;

24. पर उसका धनुष दृढ़ रहा, और उसकी बांह और हाथ याकूब के उसी शक्तिमान ईश्वर के हाथों के द्वारा फुर्तीले हुए, जिसके पास से वह चरवाहा आएगा, जो इस्राएल का पत्थर भी ठहरेगा।।

24. And his bow abideth in strength, And strengthened are the arms of his hands By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, Whence is a shepherd, a son of Israel.

25. यह तेरे पिता के उस ईश्वर का काम है, जो तेरी सहायता करेगा, उस सर्वशक्तिमान को जो तुझे ऊपर से आकाश में की आशीषें, और नीचे से गहिरे जल में की आशीषें, और स्तनों, और गर्भ की आशीषें देगा।।

25. By the God of thy father who helpeth thee, And the Mighty One who blesseth thee, Blessings of the heavens from above, Blessings of the deep lying under, Blessings of breasts and womb; --

26. तेरे पिता के आशीर्वाद मेरे पितरों के आशीर्वाद से अधिक बढ़ गए हैं और सनातन पहाड़ियों की मन- चाही वस्तुओं की नाई बने रहेंगे : वे यूसुफ के सिर पर, जो अपने भाइयों में से न्यारा हुआ, उसी के सिर के मुकुट पर फूले फलेंगे।।

26. Thy father's blessings have been mighty Above the blessings of my progenitors, Unto the limit of the heights age-during They are for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the one Separate [from] his brethren.

27. बिन्यामीन फाड़नेहारा हुण्डार है, सवेरे तो वह अहेर भक्षण करेगा, और सांझ को लूट बांट लेगा।।

27. Benjamin! a wolf teareth; In the morning he eateth prey, And at evening he apportioneth spoil.'

28. इस्राएल के बारहों गोत्रा ये ही हैं : और उनके पिता ने जिस जिस वचन से उनको आशीर्वाद दिया, सो ये ही हैं; एक एक को उसके आशीर्वाद के अनुसार उस ने आशीर्वाद दिया।

28. All these [are] the twelve tribes of Israel, and this [is] that which their father hath spoken unto them, and he blesseth them; each according to his blessing he hath blessed them.

29. तब उस ने यह कहकर उनको आज्ञा दी, कि मैं अपने लोगों के साथ मिलने पर हूं : इसलिये मुझे हित्ती एप्रोन की भूमिवाली गुफा में मेरे बापदादों के साथ मिट्टी देना,

29. And he commandeth them, and saith unto them, 'I am being gathered unto my people; bury me by my fathers, at the cave which [is] in the field of Ephron the Hittite;

30. अर्थात् उसी गुफा में जो कनान देश में मम्रे के साम्हनेवाली मकपेला की भूमि में है; उस भूमि को तो इब्राहीम ने हित्ती एप्रोन के हाथ से इसी निमित्त मोल लिया था, कि वह कबरिस्तान के लिये उसकी निज भूमि हो।

30. in the cave which [is] in the field of Machpelah, which [is] on the front of Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place;

31. वहां इब्राहीम और उसकी पत्नी सारा को मिट्टी दी गई; और वहीं इसहाक और उसकी पत्नी रिबका को भी मिट्टी दी गई; और वहीं मैं ने लिआ: को भी मिट्टी दी।

31. (there they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah);

32. वह भूमि और उस में की गुफा हित्तियों के हाथ से मोल ली गई।

32. the purchase of the field and of the cave which [is] in it, [is] from Sons of Heth.'

33. यह आज्ञा जब याकूब अपने पुत्रों को दे चुका, तब अपने पांव खाट पर समेट प्राण छोड़े, और अपने लोगों में जा मिला।

33. And Jacob finisheth commanding his sons, and gathereth up his feet unto the bed, and expireth, and is gathered unto his people.
