1. और अकाल देश में और भी भयंकर होता गया।

1. But the famine was severe in the land;

2. जब वह अन्न जो वे मि से ले आए थे समाप्त हो गया तब उनके पिता ने उन से कहा, फिर जाकर हमारे लिये थोड़ी सी भोजनवस्तु मोल ले आओ।

2. so when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, 'Go again, buy us a little food.'

3. तब यहूदा ने उस से कहा, उस पुरूष ने हम को चितावनी देकर कहा, कि यदि तुम्हारा भाई तुम्हारे संग न आए, तो तुम मेरे सम्मुख न आने पाओगे।

3. Y'hudah said to him, 'The man expressly warned us, 'You will not see my face unless your brother is with you.'

4. इसलिये यदि तू हमारे भाई को हमारे संग भेजे, तब तो हम जाकर तेरे लिये भोजनवस्तु मोल ले आएंगे;

4. If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food;

5. परन्तु यदि तू उसको न भेजे, तो हम न जाएंगे : क्योंकि उस पुरूष ने हम से कहा, कि यदि तुम्हारा भाई तुम्हारे संग न हो, तो तुम मेरे सम्मुख न आने पाओगे।

5. but if you will not send him, we will not go down; for the man said to us, 'You will not see my face unless your brother is with you.''

6. तब इस्राएल ने कहा, तुम ने उस पुरूष को यह बताकर कि हमारा एक और भाई है, क्यों मुझ से बुरा बर्ताव किया ?

6. Isra'el said, 'Why did you bring such trouble my way by telling the man you had another brother?'

7. उन्हों ने कहा, जब उस पुरूष ने हमारी और हमारे कुटुम्बियों की दशा को इस रीति पूछा, कि क्या तुम्हारा पिता अब तक जीवित है? क्या तुम्हारे कोई और भाई भी है ? तब हम ने इन प्रश्नों के अनुसार उस से वर्णन किया; फिर हम क्या जानते थे कि वह कहेगा, कि अपने भाई को यहां ले आओ।

7. They answered, 'The man kept questioning us about ourselves and about our kinsmen. He asked, 'Is your father still alive?' 'Do you have another brother?' and we answered according to the literal meaning of his questions. How were we to know he would say, 'Bring your brother down'?'

8. फिर यहूदा ने अपने पिता इस्राएल से कहा, उस लड़के को मेरे संग भेज दे, कि हम चले जाएं; इस से हम, और तू, और हमारे बालबच्चे मरने न पाएंगे, वरन जीवित रहेंगे।

8. Y'hudah said to Isra'el his father, 'Send the boy with me; and we will make preparations and leave; so that we may stay alive and not die, both we and you, and also our little ones.

9. मैं उसका जामिन होता हूं; मेरे ही हाथ से तू उसको फेर लेना: यदि मैं उसको तेरे पास पहुंचाकर साम्हने न खड़ाकर दूं, तब तो मैं सदा के लिये तेरा अपराधी ठहरूंगा।

9. I myself will guarantee his safety; you can hold me responsible. If I fail to bring him to you and present him to your face, let me bear the blame forever.

10. यदि हम लोग विलम्ब न करते, तो अब तब दूसरी बार लौट आते।

10. Except for our lengthy delay, we would have been there again by now.'

11. तब उनके पिता इस्राएल ने उन से कहा, यदि सचमुच ऐसी ही बात है, तो यह करो; इस देश की उत्तम उत्तम वस्तुओं में से कुछ कुछ अपने बोरों में उस पुरूष के लिये भेंट ले जाओ : जैसे थोड़ा सा बलसान, और थोड़ा सा मधु, और कुछ सुगन्ध द्रव्य, और गन्धरस, पिस्ते, और बादाम।

11. Their father Isra'el answered them, 'If that's how it is, do this: take in your containers some of the land's best products, and bring the man a gift- some healing resin, a little honey, aromatic gum, opium, pistachio nuts and almonds.

12. फिर अपने अपने साथ दूना रूपया ले जाओ; और जो रूपया तुम्हारे बोरों के मुंह पर रखकर फेर दिया गया था, उसको भी लेते जाओ; कदाचित् यह भूल से हुआ हो।

12. Take twice the amount of money with you; and return the money that came back with you in your packs- it could have been an oversight.

13. और अपने भाई को भी संग लेकर उस पुरूष के पास फिर जाओ,

13. Yes, and take your brother too; and get ready; and go again to the man.

14. और सर्वशक्तिमान ईश्वर उस पुरूष को तुम पर दयालु करेगा, जिस से कि वह तुम्हारे दूसरे भाई को और बिन्यामीन को भी आने दे : और यदि मैं निर्वंश हुआ तो होने दो।

14. May [El Shaddai] give you favor in the man's sight, so that he will release to you your other brother as well as Binyamin. As for me, if I must lose my children, lose them I will.'

15. तब उन मनुष्यों ने वह भेंट, और दूना रूपया, और बिन्यामीन को भी संग लिया, और चल दिए और मि में पहुंचकर यूसुफ के साम्हने खड़े हुए।

15. The men took that gift, and they took twice the money with them, and Binyamin; then they prepared, went down to Egypt and stood before Yosef.

16. उनके साथ बिन्यामीन को देखकर यूसुफ ने अपने घर के अधिकारी से कहा, उन मनुष्यों को घर में पहुंचा दो, और पशु मारके भोजन तैयार करो; क्योंकि वे लोग दोपहर को मेरे संग भोजन करेंगे।

16. When Yosef saw Binyamin with them, he said to his household manager, 'Take the men inside the house, kill the animals and prepare the meat. These men will dine with me at noon.'

17. तब वह अधिकारी पुरूष यूसुफ के कहने के अनुसार उन पुरूषों को यूसुफ के घर में ले गया।

17. The man did as Yosef ordered and brought the men into Yosef's house.

18. जब वे यूसुफ के घर को पहुंचाए गए तब वे आपस में डरकर कहने लगे, कि जो रूपया पहिली बार हमारे बोरों में फेर दिया गया था, उसी के कारण हम भीतर पहुंचाए गए हैं; जिस से कि वह पुरूष हम पर टूट पड़े, और हमें वंश में करके अपने दास बनाए, और हमारे गदहों को भी छीन ले।

18. Upon being ushered inside Yosef's house, the men became fearful. They said, 'It's because of the money that was returned in our packs the first time that we have been brought inside- so that he can use it as an excuse to attack us, take us as slaves and seize our donkeys too.'

19. तब वे यूसुफ के घर के अधिकारी के निकट जाकर घर के द्वार पर इस प्रकार कहने लगे,

19. So they approached the manager of Yosef's household and spoke to him at the entrance of the house:

20. कि हे हमारे प्रभु, जब हम पहिली बार अन्न मोल लेने को आए थे,

20. 'Please, my lord, the first time we indeed came down to buy food;

21. तब हम ने सराय में पहुंचकर अपने बोरों को खोला, तो क्या देखा, कि एक एक जन का पूरा पूरा रूपया उसके बोरे के मुंह में रखा है; इसलिये हम उसको अपने साथ फिर लेते आए हैं।

21. but when we got to camp, we opened our packs, and there inside our packs was each man's money, the full amount. We have brought it back with us;

22. और दूसरा रूपया भी भोजनवस्तु मोल लेने के लिये लाए हैं; हम नहीं जानते कि हमारा रूपया हमारे बोरों में किस ने रख दिया था।

22. moreover, we have brought down other money to buy food. We have no idea who put our money in our packs.'

23. उस ने कहा, तुम्हारा कुशल हो, मत डरो: तुम्हारा परमेश्वर, जो तुम्हारे पिता का भी परमेश्वर है, उसी ने तुम को तुम्हारे बोरों में धन दिया होगा, तुम्हारा रूपया तो मुझ को मिल गया था: फिर उस ने शिमोन को निकालकर उनके संग कर दिया।

23. 'Stop worrying,' he replied, 'don't be afraid. Your God and the God of your father put treasure in your packs. As for your money- I was the one who received it.' Then he brought Shim'on out to them.

24. तब उस जन ने उन मनुष्यों को यूसुफ के घर में ले जाकर जल दिया, तब उन्हों ने अपने पांवों को धोया; फिर उस ने उनके गदहों के लिये चारा दिया।

24. The man brought the men into Yosef's house and gave them water, and they washed their feet, and he provided fodder for their donkeys.

25. तब यह सुनकर, कि आज हम को यहीं भोजन करना होगा, उन्हों ने यूसुफ के आने के समय तक, अर्थात् दोपहर तक, उस भेंट को इकट्ठा कर रखा।

25. Then they got their gift ready for Yosef's arrival at noon, for they had heard that they were going to eat a meal there.

26. जब यूसुफ घर आया तब वे उस भेंट को , जो उनके हाथ में थी, उसके सम्मुख घर में ले गए, और भूमि पर गिरकर उसको दण्डवत् किया।

26. When Yosef arrived home, they went in the house and presented him with the gift they had brought with them, then prostrated themselves before him on the ground.

27. उस ने उनका कुशल पूछा, और कहा, क्या तुम्हारा बूढ़ा पिता, जिसकी तुम ने चर्चा की थी, कुशल से है ? क्या वह अब तक जीवित है ?

27. He asked them how they were and inquired, 'Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?'

28. उन्हों ने कहा, हां तेरा दास हमारा पिता कुशल से है और अब तक जीवित है; तब उन्हों ने सिर झुकाकर फिर दण्डवत् किया।

28. They answered, 'Your servant our father is well; yes, he is still alive,' as they bowed in respect.

29. तब उस ने आंखे उठाकर और अपने सगे भाई बिन्यामीन को देखकर पूछा, क्या तुम्हारा वह छोटा भाई, जिसकी चर्चा तुम ने मुझ से की थी, यही है ? फिर उस ने कहा, हे मेरे पुत्रा, परमेश्वर तुझ पर अनुग्रह करे।

29. He looked up and saw Binyamin his brother, his mother's son, and said, 'Is this your youngest brother, of whom you spoke to me?' and added, 'May God be good to you, my son.'

30. तब अपने भाई के स्नेह से मन भर आने के कारण और यह सोचकर, कि मैं कहां जाकर रोऊं, यूसुफ फुर्ती से अपनी कोठरी में गया, और वहां रो पड़ा।

30. Then Yosef hurried out, because his feelings toward his brother were so strong that he wanted to cry; he went into his bedroom and there he wept.

31. फिर अपना मुंह धोकर निकल आया, और अपने को शांत कर कहा, भोजन परोसो।

31. Then he washed his face and came out, but he controlled himself as he gave the order to serve the meal.

32. तब उन्हों ने उसके लिये तो अलग, और भाइयों के लिये भी अलग, और जो मिद्दी उसके संग खाते थे, उनके लिये भी अलग, भोजन परोसा; इसलिये कि मिद्दी इब्रियों के साथ भोजन नहीं कर सकते, वरन मिद्दी ऐसा करना घृणा समझते थे।

32. They served him by himself, the brothers by themselves, and the Egyptians included at the meal by themselves- Egyptians don't eat with Hebrews, because that is abhorrent to them.

33. सो यूसुफ के भाई उसके साम्हने, बड़े बड़े पहिले, और छोटे छोटे पीछे, अपनी अपनी अवस्था के अनुसार, क्रम से बैठाए गए: यह देख वे विस्मित् होकर एक दूसरे की ओर देखने लगे।

33. So they sat there facing him, the firstborn in the place of honor, the youngest in last place; and the men expressed their amazement to each other.

34. तब यूसुफ अपने साम्हने से भोजन- वस्तुएं उठा उठाके उनके पास भेजने लगा, और बिन्यामीन को अपने भाइयों से पचगुणी अधिक भोजनवस्तु मिली। और उन्हों ने उसके संग मनमाना खाया पिया।

34. Each was given his serving there in front of him, but Binyamin's portion was five times as large as any of theirs. So they drank and enjoyed themselves with him.
