1. सारा तो एक सौ सत्ताईस बरस की अवस्था को पहुंची; और जब सारा की इतनी अवस्था हुई;

1. And the life of Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years. These were the years of the life of Sarah.

2. तब वह किर्यतर्बा में मर गई। यह तो कनान देश में है, और हेब्रोन भी कहलाता है : सो इब्राहीम सारा के लिये रोने पीटने को वंहा गया।

2. And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

3. तब इब्राहीम अपने मुर्दे के पास से उठकर हित्तियों से कहने लगा,

3. And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,

4. मैं तुम्हारे बीच पाहुन और परदेशी हूं : मुझे अपने मध्य में कब्रिस्तान के लिये ऐसी भूमि दो जो मेरी निज की हो जाए, कि मैं अपने मुर्दे को गाड़के अपने आंख की ओट करूं।

4. I am a stranger and a sojourner with you. Give me a possession of a burying place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

5. हित्तियों ने इब्राहीम से कहा,

5. And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,

6. हे हमारे प्रभु, हमारी सुन : तू तो हमारे बीच में बड़ा प्रधान है : सो हमारी कब्रों में से जिसको तू चाहे उस में अपने मुर्दे को गाड़; हम में से कोई तुझे अपनी कब्र के लेने से न रोकेगा, कि तू अपने मुर्दे को उस में गाड़ने न पाए।

6. Hear us, my lord. Thou are a prince of God among us. Bury thy dead in our choice sepulchers. None of us shall withhold from thee his sepulcher, but that thou may bury thy dead.

7. तब इब्राहीम उठकर खड़ा हुआ, और हित्तियों के सम्मुख, जो उस देश के निवासी थे, दण्डवत करके कहने लगा,

7. And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the sons of Heth.

8. यदि तुम्हारी यह इच्छा हो कि मैं अपने मुर्दे को गाड़के अपनी आंख की ओट करूं, तो मेरी प्रार्थना है, कि सोहर के पुत्रा एप्रोन से मेरे लिये बिनती करो,

8. And he conversed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,

9. कि वह अपनी मकपेलावाली गुफा, जो उसकी भूमि की सीमा पर है; उसका पूरा दाम लेकर मुझे दे दे, कि वह तुम्हारे बीच कब्रिस्तान के लिये मेरी निज भूमि हो जाए।

9. that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he has, which is in the end of his field. Let him give it to me for the full price in the midst of you for a possession of a burying place.

10. और एप्रोन तो हित्तियों के बीच वहां बैठा हुआ था। सो जितने हित्ती उसके नगर के फाटक से होकर भीतर जाते थे, उन सभों के साम्हने उस ने इब्राहीम को उत्तर दिया,

10. Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the sons of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,

11. कि हे मेरे प्रभु, ऐसा नहीं, मेरी सुन; वह भूमि मैं तुझे देता हूं, और उस में जो गुफा है, वह भी मैं तुझे देता हूं; अपने जातिभाइयों के सम्मुख मैं उसे तुझ को दिए देता हूं: सो अपने मुर्दे को कब्र में रख।

11. No, my lord, hear me. I give thee the field. And the cave that is in it, I give it to thee. I give it to thee in the presence of the sons of my people. Bury thy dead.

12. तब इब्राहीम ने उस देश के निवासियों के साम्हने दण्डवत की।

12. And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.

13. और उनके सुनते हुए एप्रोन से कहा, यदि तू ऐसा चाहे, तो मेरी सुन : उस भूमि का जो दाम हो, वह मैं देना चाहता हूं; उसे मुझ से ले ले, तब मैं अपने मुर्दे को वहां गाडूंगा।

13. And he spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou will, I pray thee, hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it from me, and I will bury my dead there.

14. एप्रोन ने इब्राहीम को यह उत्तर दिया,

14. And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,

15. कि, हे मेरे प्रभु, मेरी बात सुन; एक भूमि का दाम तो चार सौ शेकेल रूपा है; पर मेरे और तेरे बीच में यह क्या है ? अपने मुर्दे को कब्र मे रख।

15. My lord, hearken to me. A piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that between me and thee? Therefore bury thy dead.

16. इब्राहीम न एप्रोन की मानकर उसको उतना रूपा तौल दिया, जितना उस ने हित्तियों के सुनते हुए कहा था, अर्थात् चार सौ ऐसे शेकेल जो व्यापारियों में चलते थे।
प्रेरितों के काम 7:16

16. And Abraham hearkened to Ephron. And Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver that he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.

17. सो एप्रोन की भूमि, जो मम्रे के सम्मुख की मकपेला में थी, वह गुफा समेत, और उन सब वृक्षों समेत भी जो उस में और उसके चारों और सीमा पर थे,
प्रेरितों के काम 7:16

17. So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border of it round about, were made sure

18. जितने हित्ती उसके नगर के फाटक से होकर भीतर जाते थे, उन सभों के साम्हने इब्राहीम के अधिकार में पक्की रीति से आ गई।

18. to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.

19. इसके पश्चात् इब्राहीम ने अपनी पत्नी सारा को, उस मकपेला वाली भूमि की गुफा में जो मम्रे के अर्थात् हेब्रोन के साम्हने कनान देश में है, मिट्टी दी।

19. And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan.

20. और वह भूमि गुफा समेत, जो उस में थी, हित्तियों की ओर से कब्रिस्तान के लिये इब्राहीम के अधिकार में पक्की रीति से आ गई।

20. And the field, and the cave that is in it, were made sure to Abraham for a possession of a burying place by the sons of Heth.
