1. सारी पृथ्वी पर एक ही भाषा, और एक ही बोली थी।

1. And all the whole earth was of one language and lyke speache.

2. उस समय लोग पूर्व की और चलते चलते शिनार देश में एक मैदान पाकर उस में बस गए।

2. And when they went foorth from the east, they founde a playne in the lande of Sinar, and there they abode.

3. तब वे आपस में कहने लगे, कि आओ; हम ईंटें बना बना के भली भंाति आग में पकाएं, और उन्हों ने पत्थर के स्थान में ईंट से, और चूने के स्थान में मिट्टी के गारे से काम लिया।

3. And one sayd to another: Come, let vs prepare brycke, and burne them in the fire. And they had brycke for stones, and slyme had they in steade of morter.

4. फिर उन्हों ने कहा, आओ, हम एक नगर और एक गुम्मट बना लें, जिसकी चोटी आकाश से बात करे, इस प्रकार से हम अपना नाम करें ऐसा न हो कि हम को सारी पृथ्वी पर फैलना पड़े।

4. And they sayd: Go to, let vs buylde vs a citie and a towre, whose toppe may reache vnto heauen, and let vs make vs a name, lest peraduenture we be scattered abrode into the vpper face of the whole earth.

5. जब लोग नगर और गुम्मट बनाने लगे; तब इन्हें देखने के लिये यहोवा उतर आया।

5. But the Lorde came downe to see the citie and towre whiche the chyldren of men buylded.

6. और यहोवा ने कहा, मैं क्या देखता हूं, कि सब एक ही दल के हैं और भाषा भी उन सब की एक ही है, और उन्हों ने ऐसा ही काम भी आरम्भ किया; और अब जितना वे करने का यत्न करेंगे, उस में से कुछ उनके लिये अनहोना न होगा।

6. And the Lorde sayd: Beholde, the people is one, and they haue all one language, and this they begin to do: neither is there any let to them from all those thinges whiche they haue imagined to do.

7. इसलिये आओ, हम उतर के उनकी भाषा में बड़ी गड़बड़ी डालें, कि वे एक दूसरे की बोली को न समझ सकें।

7. Come on, let vs go downe, and there confounde their language, that euerye one perceaue not his neighbours speache.

8. इस प्रकार यहोवा ने उनको, वहां से सारी पृथ्वी के ऊपर फैला दिया; और उन्हों ने उस नगर का बनाना छोड़ दिया।

8. And so the Lorde scattered them from that place into the vpper face of all the earth, and they left of to buylde that citie.

9. इस कारण उस नगर को नाम बाबुल पड़ा; क्योंकि सारी पृथ्वी की भाषा में जो गड़बड़ी है, सो यहोवा ने वहीं डाली, और वहीं से यहोवा ने मनुष्यों को सारी पृथ्वी के ऊपर फैला दिया।।

9. And therfore is the name of it called Babel, because the Lord dyd there confounde the language of all the earth: and from thence dyd the Lorde scatter them abrode vpon the face of all the earth.

10. शेम की वंशावली यह है। जल प्रलय के दो वर्ष पश्चात् जब शेम एक सौ वर्ष का हुआ, तब उस ने अर्पक्षद् को जन्म दिया।

10. [ These are the generations of Sem: Sem was an hundreth yere old, and begat Arphaxad two yeres after the flood.

11. और अर्पक्षद् ने जन्म के पश्चात् शेम पांच सौ वर्ष जीवित रहा; और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

11. And Sem liued after he begat Arphaxad fiue hundreth yeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.

12. जब अर्पक्षद् पैंतीस वर्ष का हुआ, तब उस ने शेलह को जन्म दिया।

12. Arphaxad liued fiue and thirtie yeres, and begat Selah.

13. और शेलह के जन्म के पश्चात् अर्पक्षद् चार सौ तीन वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

13. And Arphaxad liued after he begat Selah, foure hundreth and three yeres: and begat sonnes and daughters.

14. जब शेलह तीस वर्ष का हुआ, तब उसके द्वारा एबेर को जन्म हुआ।

14. Selah liued thirtie yeres, and begat Heber.

15. और एबेर के जन्म के पश्चात् शेलह चार सौ तीन वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

15. And Selah liued after he begat Heber, foure hundreth and three yeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.

16. जब एबेर चौंतीस वर्ष का हुआ, तब उसके द्वारा पेलेग का जन्म हुआ।

16. And Heber liued thirtie and foure yeres, and begat Peleg.

17. और पेलेग के जन्म के पश्चात् एबेर चार सौ तीस वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

17. And Heber liued after he begat Peleg, foure hundreth and thirtie yeres: and begat sonnes and daughters.

18. जब पेलेग तीस वर्ष को हुआ, तब उसके द्वारा रू का जन्म हुआ।

18. And Peleg liued thirtie yeres, and begat Reu.

19. और रू के जन्म के पश्चात् पेलेग दो सौ नौ वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

19. And Peleg lyued after he begat Reu two hundreth and nyne yeres: and begat sonnes and daughters.

20. जब रू बत्तीस वर्ष का हुआ, तब उसके द्वारा सरूग का जन्म हुआ।

20. And Reu liued two and thirtie yeres, and begat Serug.

21. और सरूग के जन्म के पश्चात् रू दो सौ सात वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

21. And Reu lyued after he begat Serug two hundreth and seuen yeres: and begat sonnes and daughters.

22. जब सरूग तीस वर्ष का हुआ, तब उसके द्वारा नाहोर का जन्म हुआ।

22. And Serug liued thirtie yere, and begat Nachor.

23. और नाहोर के जन्म के पश्चात् सरूग दो सौ वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

23. And Serug liued after he begat Nachor, two hundreth yeres: and begat sonnes and daughters.

24. जब नाहोर उनतीस वर्ष का हुआ, तब उसके द्वारा तेरह का जन्म हुआ।

24. And Nachor lyued nyne and twentie yeres, and begat Tarah.

25. और तेरह के जन्म के पश्चात् नाहोर एक सौ उन्नीस वर्ष और जीवित रहा, और उसके और भी बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।।

25. And Nachor liued after he begat Tarah an hundreth and nineteene yeres: and begat sonnes and daughters.

26. जब तक तेरह सत्तर वर्ष का हुआ, तब तक उसके द्वारा अब्राम, और नाहोर, और हारान उत्पन्न हुए।।

26. Tarah liued seuentie yeres, and begat Abram, Nachor, and Haran.

27. तेरह की यह वंशावली है। तेरह ने अब्राम, और नाहोर, और हारान को जन्म दिया; और हारान ने लूत को जन्म दिया।

27. These are the generations of Tarah: Tarah begat Abram, Nachor, and Haran: Haron begat Lot.

28. और हारान अपने पिता के साम्हने ही, कस्दियों के ऊर नाम नगर में, जो उसकी जन्मभूमि थी, मर गया।

28. And Haran dyed in the presence of his father Tarah, in the lande of his natiuitie, euen in Ur of the Chaldees.

29. अब्राम और नाहोर ने स्त्रियां ब्याह लीं : अब्राम की पत्नी का नाम तो सारै, और नाहोर की पत्नी का नाम मिल्का था, यह उस हारान की बेटी थी, जो मिल्का और यिस्का दोनों का पिता था।

29. Abram & Nachor toke them wiues: the name of Abrams wife [was] Sarai, and the name of Nachors wyfe, [was] Milcha, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcha, & the father of Iischa.

30. सारै तो बांझ थी; उसके संतान न हुई।

30. But Sarai was baren, and had no chylde.

31. और तेरह अपना पुत्रा अब्राम, और अपना पोता लूत जो हारान का पुत्रा था, और अपनी बहू सारै, जो उसके पुत्रा अब्राम की पत्नी थी इन सभों को लेकर कस्दियों के ऊर नगर से निकल कनान देश जाने को चला; पर हारान नाम देश में पहुचकर वहीं रहने लगा।

31. And Tarah toke Abram his sonne, and Lot the sonne of Haran his sonnes sonne, and Sarai his daughter in lawe his sonne Abrams wyfe, and they departed together from Ur of the Chaldees, that they myght go into the land of Chanaan: and they came vnto Haran, and dwelt there.

32. जब तेरह दो सौ पांच वर्ष का हुआ, तब वह हारान देश में मर गया।।

32. And the dayes of Tarah, were two hundreth and fiue yeres, and Tarah died in Haran.
