1. नवें वर्ष के दसवें महीने के दसवें दिन को, यहोवा का यह वचन मेरे पास पहुंचा,

1. Nine years after King Jehoiachin and the rest of us had been led away as prisoners to Babylonia, the LORD spoke to me on the tenth day of the tenth month. He said:

2. हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, आज का दिन लिख रख, क्योंकि आज ही के दिन बाबुल के राजा ने यरूशलेम आ घेरा है।

2. Ezekiel, son of man, write down today's date, because the king of Babylonia has just begun attacking the city of Jerusalem.

3. और इस बलबई घराने से यह दृष्टान्त कह, प्रभु यहोवा कहता है, हण्डे को आग पर घर दो; उसे धरकर उस में पानी डाल दो;

3. Then tell my rebellious people: 'Pour water in a cooking pot and set it over a fire. *

4. तब उस में जांध, कन्धा और सब अच्छे अच्छे टुकड़े बटोरकर रखो; और उसे उत्तम उत्तम हडि्डयों से भर दो।

4. Throw in the legs and shoulders of your finest sheep and put in the juicy bones.

5. झुंड में से सब से अच्छे पशु लेकर उन हडि्डयों को हगडे के नीचे ढेर करो; और उनको भली- भांति पकाओ ताकि भीतर ही हडि्डयां भी पक जाएं।

5. Pile wood underneath the pot, and let the meat and bones boil until they are done.'

6. इसलिये प्रभु यहोवा यों कहता है, हाय, उस हत्यारी नगरी पर ! हाय उस हण्डे पर ! जिसका मोर्चा उस में बना है और छूटा नहीं; उस में से टुकड़ा टुकड़ा करके निकाल लो, उस पर चिट्ठी न डाली जाए।

6. These words mean that Jerusalem is doomed! The city is filled with murderers and is like an old, rusty pot. The meat is taken out piece by piece, and no one cares what happens to it.

7. क्योंकि उस नगरी में किया हुआ खून उस में है; उस ने उसे भूमि पर डालकर धूलि से नहीं ढांपा, परन्तु नंगी चट्टान पर रख दिया।

7. The people of Jerusalem murdered innocent people in the city and didn't even try to cover up the blood that flowed out on the hard ground.

8. इसलिये मैं ने भी उसका खून नंगी चट्टान पर रखा है कि वह ढंप न सके और कि बदला लेने को जलजलाहट भड़के।

8. But I have seen that blood, and it cries out for me to take revenge.

9. प्रभु यहोवा यों कहता है, हाय, उस खूनी नगरी पर ! मैं भी ढेर को बड़ा करूंगा।

9. I, the LORD God, will punish that city of violence! I will make a huge pile of firewood,

10. और अधिक लकड़ी डाल, आग को बहुत तेज कर, मांस को भली भांति पका और मसाला मिला, और हडि्डयां भी जला दो।

10. so bring more wood and light it. Cook the meat and boil away the broth to let the bones scorch.

11. तब हण्डे को छूछा करके अंगारों पर रख जिस से वह गर्म हो और उसका पीतल जले और उस में का मैल गले, और उसका मोर्चा नष्ट हो जाए।

11. Then set the empty pot over the hot coals until it is red-hot. That will clean the pot and burn off the rust.

12. मैं उसके कारण परिश्रम करते करते थक गया, परन्तु उसका भारी मोर्चा उस से छूटता नहीं, उसका मोर्चा आग के द्वारा भी नहीं छूटता।

12. I've tried everything else. Now the rust must be burned away.

13. हे नगरी तेरी अशुद्धता महापाप की है। मैं तो तुझे शुद्ध करना चाहता था, परन्तु तू शुद्ध नहीं हुई, इस कारण जब तक मैं अपनी लजलजाहट तुझ पर शान्त न कर लूं, तब तक तू फिर शुद्ध न की जाएगी।

13. Jerusalem is so full of sin and evil that I can't get it clean, even though I have tried. It will stay filthy until I let loose my fierce anger against it.

14. मुझ यहोवा ही ने यह कहा है; और वह हो जाएगा, मैं ऐसा ही करूंगा, मैं तुझे न छोड़ूंगा, न तुझ पर तरस खऊंगा न पछताऊंगा; तेरे चालचलन और कामों ही के अनुसार तेरा न्याय किया जाएगा, प्रभु यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

14. That time will certainly come! And when it does, I won't show the people of Jerusalem any pity or change my mind. They must be punished for the evil they have done. I, the LORD God, have spoken.

15. यहोवा का यह भी वचन मेरे पास पहुंचा,

15. The LORD said,

16. हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, देख, मैं तेरी आंखों की प्रिय को मारकर तेरे पास से ले लेने पर हूँ; परन्तु न तू रोना- पीटना और न आंसू बहाना।

16. 'Ezekiel, son of man, I will suddenly take the life of the person you love most. But I don't want you to complain or cry.

17. लम्बी सांसें ले तो ले, परन्तु वे सुनाई न पड़ें; मरे हुओं के लिये भी विलाप न करना । सिर पर पगड़ी बान्धे और पांवों में जूती पहने रहना; और न तो अपने होंठ को ढांपना न शोक के योग्य रोटी खाना।

17. Mourn in silence and don't show that you are grieving. Don't remove your turban or take off your sandals; don't cover your face to show your sorrow, or eat the food that mourners eat.'

18. तब मैं सवेरे लोगों से बोला, और सांझ को मेरी स्त्री मर गई। और बिहान को मैं ने आज्ञा के अनुसार किया।

18. One morning, I was talking with the people as usual, and by sunset my wife was dead. The next day I did what the LORD told me,

19. तब लोग मुझ से कहने लगे, क्या तू हमें न बताएगा कि यह जो तू करता है, इसका हम लोगों के लिये क्या अर्थ है?

19. and when people saw me, they asked, 'Why aren't you mourning for your wife?'

20. मैं ने उनको उत्तर दिया, यहोवा का यह वचन मेरे पास पहुंचा,

20. I answered: The LORD God says

21. तू इस्राएल के घराने से कह, प्रभु यहोवा यों कहता है, देखो, मैं अपने पवित्रास्थान को जिसके गढ़ होने पर तुम फूलते हो, और जो तम्हारी आंखों का चाहा हुआ है, और जिसको तुम्हारा मन चाहता है, उसे मैं अपवित्रा करने पर हूं; और अपने जिन बेटे- बेटियों को तुम वहां छोड़ आए हो, वे तलवार से मारे जाएंगे।

21. he is ready to destroy the temple in which you take such pride and which makes you feel so safe. Your children who now live in Jerusalem will be killed.

22. और जैसा मैं ने किया है वैसा ही तुम लोग करोगे, तुम भी अपने होंठ न ढांपोगे, न शोक के योग्य रोटी खाओगे।

22. Then you will do the same things I have done. You will leave your face uncovered and refuse to eat the food that mourners usually eat.

23. तूम सिर पर पगड़ी बान्धे और पांवों में जूती पहिने रहोगे, न तुम रोओगे, न छाती पीटोगे, वरन अपने अधर्म के कामों में फंसे हुए गलते जाओगे और एक दूसरे की ओर कराहते रहोगे।

23. You won't take off your turbans and your sandals. You won't cry or mourn, but all day long you will go around groaning because of your sins.

24. इस रीति यहोजकेल तुम्हारे लिये चिन्ह ठहरेगा; जैसा उस ने किया, ठीक वैसा ही तुम भी करोगे। और जब यह हो जाए, तब तुम जान लोगे कि मैं परमेश्वर यहोवा हूँ।

24. I am a warning sign--everything I have done, you will also do. And then you will know the LORD God has made these things happen.

25. और हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, क्या यह सच नहीं, कि जिस दिन मैं उनका दृढ़ गढ़, उनकी शोभा, और हर्ष का कारण, और उनके बेटे- बेटियां जो उनकी शोभा, उनकी आंखों का आनन्द, और मन की चाह हैं, उनको मैं उन से ले लूंगा,

25. The LORD said, 'Ezekiel, I will soon destroy the temple that makes everyone feel proud and safe, and I will take away their children as well.

26. उसी दिन जो भागकर बचेगा, वह तेरे पास आकर तुझे समाचार सुनाएगा।

26. On that same day, someone will escape from the city and come to tell you what has happened.

27. उसी दिन तेरा मुंह खुलेगा, और तू फिर चुप न रहेगा परन्तु उस बचे हुए के साथ बातें करेगा। सो तू इन लोगों के लिये चिन्ह ठहरेगा; और ये जान लेंगे कि मैं यहोवा हूँ।

27. Then you will be able to speak again, and the two of you will talk. You will be a warning sign to the people, and they will know that I am the LORD.'
