1. यहूदा के राजा यहोयाकीम के राज्य के तीसरे वर्ष में बाबुल के राजा नबूकदनेस्सर ने यरूशेलम पर चढ़ाई करके उसको घेर लिया।

1. In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came unto Jerusalem and besieged it.

2. तब परमेश्वर ने यहूदा के राजा यहोयाकीम को परमेश्वर के भवन के कई पात्रों सहित उसके हाथ में कर दिया; और उस ने उन पात्रों को शिनार देश में अपने देवता के मन्दिर में ले जाकर, अपने देवता के भण्डार में रख दिया।

2. And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand with part of the vessels of the house of God which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god, and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

3. तब उस राजा ने अपने खोजों के प्रधान अशपनज को आज्ञा दी कि इस्राएली राजपुत्रों और प्रतिष्ठित पुरूषों में से ऐसे कई जवानों को ला,

3. And the king spoke unto Ashpenaz the prince of his eunuchs, that he should bring [certain] of the sons of Israel of the royal lineage of the princes,

4. जो निर्दोष, सुन्दर और सब प्रकार की बुद्धि में प्रवीण, और ज्ञान में निपुण और विद्वान् और राजमन्दिर में हाजिर रहने के योग्य हों; और उन्हें कसदियों के शास्त्रा और भाषा की शिक्षा दे।

4. young men in whom [there was] no blemish whatsoever but [who were] good looking and taught in all wisdom and wise in knowledge and of good understanding, and that [had] strength in them to stand in the king's palace, that they might be taught the letters and speech of the Chaldeans.

5. और राजा ने आज्ञा दी कि उसके भोजन और पीने के दाखमधु में से उन्हें प्रतिदिन खाने- पीने को दिया जाए। इस प्रकार तीन वर्ष तक उनका पालन पोषण होता रहे; तब उसके बाद वे राजा के साम्हने हाजिर किए जाएं।

5. And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's food and of the wine which he drank, so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

6. उन में यहूदा की सन्तान से चुने हुए, दानिरयेल, हनन्याह, मीशाएल, और अजर्याह नाम यहूदी थे।

6. Now among these of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

7. और खोजों के प्रधान ने उनके दूसरे नाम रखें; अर्थात् दानिरयेल का नाम रखे; अर्थात् दानिरयेल का नाम उस ने बेलतशस्सर, हनन्याह का शद्रक, मीशाएल का मेशक, और अजर्याह का नाम अबेदनगो रखा।।

7. unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel [the name] of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

8. परन्तु दानिरयेल ने अपने मन में ठान लिया कि वह राजा का भोजन खाकर, और उसके पीने का दाखमधु पीकर अपवित्रा न होए; इसलिये उस ने खोजों के प्रधान से बिनती की कि उसे अपवित्रा न होना पड़े।

8. And Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's food, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

9. परमेश्वर ने खोजों के प्रधान के मन में दानिरयेल के प्रति कृपा और दया भर दी।

9. (And God brought Daniel into grace and mercy with the prince of the eunuchs.)

10. और खोजों के प्रधान ने दानिरयेल से कहा, मैं अपने स्वामी राजा से डरता हूं, क्योंकि तुम्हारा खाना- पीना उसी ने ठहराया है, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि वह तेरा मुंह तेरे संगी के जवानों से उतरा हुआ और उदास देखे और तुम मेरा सिर राजा के साम्हने जाखिम में डालो।

10. And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink; for when he shall see your faces more downcast than the [other] young men who [are] like unto you, then ye shall condemn my head before the king.

11. तब दानिरयेल ने उस मुखिये से, जिसको खोजों के प्रधान ने दानिरयेल, हनन्याह, मीशाएल, और अजर्याह के ऊपर देखभाल करने के लिये नियक्त किया था, कहा,

11. Then Daniel said to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,

12. मैं तेरी बिनती करता हूं, अपने दासों को दस दिन तक जांच, हमारे खाने के लिये सागपात और पीने के लिये पानी ही दिया जाए।
प्रकाशितवाक्य 2:10

12. Prove, now, with thy servants ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.

13. फिर दस दिन के बाद हमारे मुंह और जो जवान राजा का भोजन खाते हैं उनके मुंह को देख; और जैसा तुझे देख पड़े, उसी के अनुसार अपने दासों से व्यवहार करना।

13. Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenances of the young men that eat of the portion of the king's food; and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

14. उनकी यह बिनती उस ने मान ली, और दास दिन तक उनको जांचता रहा।
प्रकाशितवाक्य 2:10

14. So he consented to them in this matter and proved them ten days.

15. दस दिन के बाद उनके मुंह राजा के भोजन के खानेवाले सब जवानों से अधिकर अच्छे और चिकने देख पड़े।

15. And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than the young men who ate the portion of the king's food.

16. तब वह मुखिया उनका भोजन और उनके पीने के लिये ठहराया हुआ दाखमधु दोनों छुड़ाकर, उनको सागपात देने लगा।।

16. Thus Melzar took the portion of their food and the wine that they should drink and gave them vegetables.

17. और परमेश्वर ने उन चारों जवानों को सब शास्त्रों, और सब प्रकार की विद्याओं में बुद्धिमानी और प्रवीणता दी; और दानिरयेल सब प्रकार के दर्शन और स्वपन के अर्थ का ज्ञानी हो गया।

17. And unto these four young men, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in all letters and science; furthermore Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

18. तब जितने दिन के बाद नबूकदनेस्सर राजा ने जवानों को भीतर ले आने की आज्ञा दी थी, उतने दिन के बीतने पर खोजों के प्रधान उन्हें उसके सामने ले गया।

18. Now at the end of the days after which the king had said he should bring them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

19. और राजा उन से बातचीत करने लगा; और दानिरयेल, हनन्याह, मीशाएल, और अजर्याह के तुल्य उन सब में से कोई न ठहरा; इसलिये वे राजा के सम्मुख हाजिर रहने लगे।

19. And the king communed with them, and none among them all was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; and [therefore] they stood before the king.

20. और बुद्धि और हर प्रकार की समझ के विषय में जो कुछ राजा उन से पूछता था उस में वे राज्य भर के सब ज्योतिषयों और तन्त्रियों से दसगुणे निपुण ठहरते थे।

20. And in all matters of wisdom [and] intelligence, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians [and] astrologers that [were] in all his realm.

21. और दानिरयेल कु ू राजा के पहिले वर्ष तक बना रहा।।

21. And Daniel continued [even] unto the first year of king Cyrus.:
