1. हे बिन्यामीनियो, यरूशलेम में से अपना अपना सामान लेकर भागो ! तकोआ में नरसिंगा फूंको, और बेथ्क्केरेम पर झण्डा ऊंचा करो; क्योंकि उत्तर की दिशा से आनेवाली विपत्ति बड़ी और विनाश लानेवाली है।

1. Run for your lives, people of Benjamin! Run away from the city of Jerusalem! Blow the war trumpet in the city of Tekoa! Put up the warning flag in the city of Beth Hakkerem! Do these things because disaster is coming from the north. Terrible destruction is coming to you.

2. Daughter Zion, you are like a beautiful meadow.

3. चरवाहे अपनी अपनी भेड़- बकरियां संग लिए हुए उस पर चढ़कर उसके चारों ओर अपने तम्बू खड़े करेंगे, वे अपने अपने पास की घास चरा लेंगे।

3. Shepherds come to Jerusalem, and they bring their flocks. They set up their tents all around her. Each shepherd takes care of his own flock.

4. आओ, उसके विरूद्ध युठ्ठ की तैयारी करो; उठो, हम दो पहर को चढ़ाई करें ! हाय, हाय, दिन ढलता जाता है, और सांझ की परछाई लम्बी हो चली है !

4. Get ready to fight against Jerusalem. Get up! We will attack the city at noon. But it is already getting late. The evening shadows are growing long.

5. So get up! We will attack the city at night! Let's destroy the strong walls that are around Jerusalem.'

6. सेनाओं का यहोवा तुम से कहता है, वृक्ष काट काटकर यरूशलेम के विरूद्व दमदमा बान्धोे ! यह वही नगर है जो दणड के योग्य है; इस में अन्धेर ही अनधेर भरा हुआ है।

6. This is what the Lord All-Powerful says: 'Cut down the trees around Jerusalem, and build a siege mound against it. This city should be punished. Inside this city is nothing but oppression.

7. जैसा कूएं में से नित्य नया जल निकला करता है, वैसा ही इस नगर में से नित्य नई बुराई निकलती है; इस में उत्पात और उपद्रव का कोलाहल मचा रहता है; चोट और मारपीट मेरे देखने में निरन्तर आती है।

7. As a well keeps its water fresh, so Jerusalem keeps its wickedness fresh. I hear about the robbing and violence in this city all the time. I see the pain and sickness in Jerusalem all the time.

8. हे यरूशलेम, ताड़ना से ही मान ले, नहीं तो तू मेरे मन से भी उतर जाएगी; और, मैं तुझ को उजाड़कर निर्जन कर डालूंगा।

8. Listen to this warning, Jerusalem, or I will turn my back on you. I will make your land an empty desert. No one will be able to live there.'

9. सेनाओं का यहोवा यों कहता है, इस्राएल के सब बचे हुए दाखलता की नाई ढूंढ़कर तोड़े जाएंगे; दाखके तोड़नेवाले की नाई उस लता की डालियों पर फिर अपना हाथ लगा।

9. This is what the Lord All-Powerful says: 'Gather the people of Israel who were left on their land. Gather them the way you would gather the last grapes on a grapevine. Check each vine, like the workers check each vine when they pick the grapes.'

10. मैं किस से बोलूं और किसको चिताकर कहूं कि वे मानें? देख, ये ऊंचा सुनते हैं, वे ध्यान भी नहीं दे सकते; देख, यहोवा के वचन की वे निन्दा करते और उसे नहीं चाहते हैं।

10. Who can I speak to? Who can I warn? Who will listen to me? The people of Israel have closed their ears, so they cannot hear my warnings. They don't like the Lord's teachings. They don't want to hear his message.

11. इस कारण यहोवा का कोप मेरे मन में भर गया हे; मैं उसे रोकते रोकते उकता गया हूँ। बाज़ारों में बच्चों पर और जवानों की सभा में भी उसे उंडेल दे; क्योंकि पति अपनी पत्नी के साथ और अधेड़ बूढ़े के साथ पकड़ा जाएगा।

11. But I am full of the Lord's anger, and I am tired of holding it in! 'Pour out the Lord's anger on the children playing in the streets and on the young soldiers gathered there as well. A man and his wife will both be captured as well as all the old people.

12. उन लोगों के घर और खेत और स्त्रियां सब औरों को हो जाएंगीं; क्योंकि मैं इस देश के रहनेवालों पर हाथ बढ़ाऊंगा, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

12. Their houses will be given to others. Their fields and their wives will be given to other people. I will raise my hand and punish the people of Judah.' This message is from the Lord.

13. क्योंकि उन में छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक सब के सब लालची हैं; और क्या भविष्यद्वक्ता क्या याजक सब के सब छल से काम करते हैं।

13. All the people of Israel want more and more money. All of them, from the least important to the most important, are like that. Even the prophets and priests tell lies.

14. वे, 'शान्ति है, शान्ति,' ऐसा कह कहकर मेरी प्रजा के घाव को ऊपर ही ऊपर चंगा करते हैं, परन्तु शान्ति कुछ भी नहीं।

14. They should bandage the deep wounds my people have suffered, but they treat their wounds like small scratches. They say, 'It's all right, everything is all right.' But it is not all right!

15. क्या वे कभी अपने घृणित कामों के कारण लज्जित हुए? नहीं, वे कुछ भी लज्जित नहीं हुए; वे लज्जित होना जानते ही नहीं; इस कारण जब और लोग नीचे गिरें, तब वे भी गिरेंगे, और जब मैं उनको दणड देने लगूंगा, तब वे ठोकर खाकर गिरेंगे, यहोवा का यही वचन है।

15. They should be ashamed of the evil things they do, but they are not ashamed at all. They don't know enough to be embarrassed by their sins. So they will be punished with everyone else. They will be thrown to the ground when I punish the people.' This is what the Lord said.

16. यहोवा यों भी कहता है, सड़कों पर खडे होकर देखो, और पूछो कि प्राचीनकाल का अच्छा मार्ग कौन सा है, उसी में चलो, और तुम अपने अपने मन में चैन पाओगे। पर उन्हों ने कहा, हम उस पर न चलेंगे।

16. This is what the Lord says: 'Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask where the old road is. Ask where the good road is, and walk on that road. If you do, you will find rest for yourselves. But you people have said, 'We will not walk on the good road.'

17. मैं ने तुम्हारे लिये पहरूए बैठाकर कहा, नरसिंगे का शब्द ध्यान से सुनना ! पर उन्हों ने कहा, हम न सुनेंगे।

17. I chose watchmen to watch over you. I told them, 'Listen for the sound of the war trumpet.' But they said, 'We will not listen!'

18. इसलिये, हे जातियो, सुनो, और हे मण्डली, देख, कि इन लोगों में क्या हो रहा है।

18. So listen, all you nations, and pay attention, you people in those countries.

19. हे पृथ्वी, सुन; देख, कि मैं इस जाति पर वह विपत्ति ले आऊंगा जो उनकी कल्पनाओं का फल है, क्योंकि इन्हों ने मेरे वचनों पर ध्यान नहीं लगाया, और मेरी शिक्षा को इन्हों ने निकम्मी जाना है।

19. Hear this, people of the earth: I am going to bring disaster to the people of Judah because of all the evil they planned, and because they ignored my messages. They refused to obey my law.

20. मेरे लिये जो लोबान शबा से, और सुगन्धित नरकट जो दूर देश से आता है, इसका क्या प्रयोजन है? तुम्हारे होमबलियों से मैं प्रसन्न नहीं हूँ, और न तुम्हारे मेलबलि मुझे मीठे लगते हैं।

20. Why do you bring me incense from the country of Sheba? Why do you bring me sweet-smelling cane from a faraway country? Your burnt offerings don't make me happy. Your sacrifices don't please me.'

21. इस कारण यहोवा ने यों कहा है, देखो, मैं इस प्रजा के आगे ठोकर खाऊंगा, और बाप और बेटा, पड़ोसी और मित्रा, सब के सब ठोकर खाकर नाश होंगे।

21. So this is what the Lord says: 'I will give the people of Judah problems. They will be like stones that make people fall. Fathers and sons will stumble over them. Friends and neighbors will die.'

22. यहोवा यों कहता है, देखो, उत्तर से वरन पृथ्वी की छोर से एक बड़ी जाति के लोग इस देश के विरोध में उभारे जाएंगे।

22. This is what the Lord says: 'An army is coming from the north. A great nation is coming from faraway places on earth.

23. वे धनुष और बछ धारण किए हुए आएंगे, वे क्रूर और निर्दय हैं, और जब वे बोलते हैं तब मानो समुद्र गरजता है; वे घोड़ों पर चढ़े हुए आएंगे, हे सिरयोन, वे वीर की नाई सशस्त्रा होकर तुझ पर चढ़ाई करेंगे।

23. The soldiers carry bows and spears. They are cruel; they have no mercy. They are so powerful. They sound like the roaring ocean as they ride their horses. That army is coming, ready for battle. That army is coming to attack you, Daughter Zion. '

24. इसका समाचार सुनते ही हमारे हाथ ढीले पड़ गए हैं; हम संकट में पड़े हैं; जच्चा की सी पीड़ा हम को उठी है।

24. We have heard the news about that army, and we are paralyzed with fear. We are overcome with fear and pain, like a woman giving birth.

25. मैदान में मत निकलो, मार्ग में भी न चलो; क्योंकि वहां शत्रु की तलवार और चारों ओर भय देख पड़ता है।

25. Don't go out into the fields. Don't go on the roads because the enemy has swords, and there is danger everywhere.

26. हे मेरी प्रजा कमर में टाट बान्ध, और राख में लोट; जैसा एकलौते पुत्रा के लिये विलाप होता है वैसा ही बड़ा शोकमय विलाप कर; क्योंकि नाश करनेवाला हम पर अचानक आ पडेगा।

26. My people, put on sackcloth and roll in the ashes. Cry loudly for the dead. Cry as if you lost an only son. Do this because the destroyer will come against us very quickly.

27. मैं ने इसलिये तुझे अपनी प्रजा के बीच गुम्मट वा गढ़ ठहरा दिया कि तू उनकी चाल परखे और जान ले।

27. Jeremiah, I made you like a worker who tests metals. You will test my people and watch how they live.

28. वे सब बहुत ही हटी हैं, वे लुतराई करते फिरते हैं; उन सभों की चाल बिगड़ी है, वे निरा ताम्बा और लोहा ही हैं।

28. My people have turned against me, and they are very stubborn. They say bad things about people. They are like bronze and iron that are covered with rust and tarnish.

29. घैंकनी जल गई, शीशा आग में जल गया; ढालनेवाले ने व्यर्थ ही ढाला है; क्योंकि बुरे लोग नहीं निकाले गए।

29. {They are like a worker who tried to make silver pure.} The bellows blew strongly, and the fire became hotter, but only lead came from the fire. The worker wasted his time trying to make that silver pure. In the same way the evil was not removed from my people.

30. उनका नाम खोटी चान्दी पड़ेगा, क्योंकि यहोवा ने उनको खोटा पाया है।

30. My people will be called 'Rejected Silver.' They will be given that name because the Lord did not accept them.'
